    Heat tape ,and reflex wrap around black /grey valves and tubes also on freshwater supply lines, because as finger in a glove, small lines will freeze before a large tank.....

      Thank you! I definitely could have used some heat tape on the black/grey valves. Those froze up but luckily did not break! Thanks for the comment and watching.

      Thanks Mark! Yeah, wish I still had the truck camper, but sold that after we had our son. It wasn't very practical for a family with a dog. But man I had some great times with the truck camper! Thanks for watching and stay safe and healthy too!

    That yellow scotch masking tape is good for masking windows and plastics, but not so great for metals, especially in cold temperatures. Duct tape might work a bit longer, but even then, still just a temporary solution

    • @ColoradoCamperman
      @ColoradoCamperman  Před 6 měsíci

      It worked pretty good for me but as the temps were dropping it wasn't sticking great. I'd be afraid of the residue that duct tape leaves. The yellow tape was clean and didn't leave any residue. Thanks for watching!

    I'm glad to see we aren't the only ones in the Midwest with crazy regular temperature swings! What an adventure to camp in all that snow! Hope you had a great time hunting! I'm guessing your skirting came off on day two so you ended up piling snow banks up under the edges of the trailer to stop the wind!

    • @ColoradoCamperman
      @ColoradoCamperman  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, we always seem to get crazy swings in temps! That same storm by us in town came close to a record for largest temp drop in 24 hours, I think it was around 75 degrees! Lol, well the skirting pretty much lasted my whole trip because of the snow. It came off near the front door though. Overall I think it helped out tremendously! I took some temp readings under the camper and then out in the open. There was around a 20 degree difference. Thanks for the comment and watching!

    Hey Brian, I was curious if you would do the skirting differently with the issues with the tape? Sounds like it still worked though. Did the tape leave a messy residue when you took it off?
    Love your channel BTW!! We are in CO too and always looking to learn how to get more camping in!!
    Thanks!!

    • @ColoradoCamperman
      @ColoradoCamperman  Před 2 lety

      Hey Chris. The skirting worked our really well! A huge reason it did was the snow helped keep it in place. Prior to it snowing, the wind was thrashing the skirting. To my surprise, it actually stayed on in almost every area. The tape did not leave a messy residue. That yellow 3M tape is amazing! We use it when we paint houses in the summer time when rain is in the forecast. That tape can get sprayed, get rained on for 2 days, sprayed again, and it won't prematurely come off or leave a residue when we pull the tape. 3M rates it to have a 14 day clean removal, I would say that is accurate.
      I'm glad you dig the channel! It's always good to hear from fellow Coloradoans on here. Thanks for the comment and watching!

    • @ColoradoCamperman
      @ColoradoCamperman  Před 3 lety

      It's Brian actually, lol. No worries though! Yes this is the same trailer I did the axle flip on. It has worked out great! Since then I did upgrade to the Mor Ryde CRE 3000 system, I should have done that at the same time I flipped the axle. Other than that, I wouldn't do anything different! Thank you! The hunt was unsuccessful, but still a great time nonetheless. Thanks for watching!

      @@ColoradoCamperman Sorry Brian...I actually thought of it after I sent the message. Yep, a little embarrassed. Lol I won't get it wrong again buddy! I bought a 98 Sunnybrook 5er I want to do the flip on this summer. That way it shouldn't scrape when going into or out of some parking lots and such. I'll look into the other unit you mentioned also. I was also planning to do that. Thanks again for the info.

      @ColoradoCamperman  Před 3 lety

      @@whitetailhollowacres6917 No worries at all man! Yeah, we had to flip the axles on our camper. I almost ripped the plumbing off multiple times. One of the back jacks got caught on a cattle guard before I did the flip and almost ripped it off too. The MorRyde CRE 3000 will give you a much smoother ride and IMO is worth upgrading to. No problem, thank you!

    Thanks for the tips. I'm avoiding straw bales around the base because of mice. I'm considering aircrete stackable blocks. I figure I could stack them up, and take them down when it's time to move my camper.
    Any thoughts about this plan ?

    • @ColoradoCamperman
      @ColoradoCamperman  Před 3 lety +1

      You're welcome! I think anything that will stop the wind will help out tremendously! Even just using my tarps made a big difference. I had a laser thermometer with me and shot the ground under the camper and outside. Under the camper it was 34 degrees and the ground outside was 18 degrees! Big difference. Thanks for watching!

      @@ColoradoCamperman Awesome. My newest idea is to set up an RV carport type structure. You know those big RV covers?.. I'm considering making it twice as wide as my camper so I have an entire room where I can keep my utility equipment, plus have a room that isn't crowded like in the camper.
      I'd appreciate your thoughts on this idea too.
      Thanks:)

      @@DavidSmith3750 It's mid November. I moved my RV to it's winter location. Then I removed the wheels and dropped it to the ground. It's surrounded by big styrofoam blocks instead of using straw bales. Then I banked up soft dirt to hold them in place. I even used R-30 pink insulation under the entire RV.
      It went to 17 degrees the other night and I was warm and cozy all night.
      Lastly, I've noticed a huge black cat that hunts the entire yard. No mice, warm, great view, and only one step to get into the RV.
