I actually was just thinking of this concept and looked around to see if anyone else had done it yet. Great execution! Wait. No pun originally intended lol.
Great film, loved the execution!!! I myself am pursuing film making and so I was wondering if you could tell me how you managed to merge the split screens at 03:05, the merger was really smooth!
Hey, I’m really pleased you liked the film. Using the crop effect in Premiere Pro to create the black line of separation, we utilised key frames to move the image back into the one frame. We filmed the climactic moment first as LEFT enters the room, then reset for RIGHT’s colleague interaction, then reset again for the climactic moment once again. We kept the camera stationary after the first camera movement of LEFT entering the space. To give the illusion that it all happened in one take, we layered RIGHT sat down using the first take, overlayed another shot of LEFT elsewhere during RIGHT’s colleague interaction. Next, using the first take with LEFT walking into the room, I then merged them together using key frames to change the cropping. They matched perfectly because they were from the same shot. I hope that makes sense... thanks again for your comment!
Absolutely Fabulous
