Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: First-time viewer here. Really enjoyed your video! I rockhunt chat and gravel piles to this day. That's how I got started in the hobby... in the feldspar and quartz gravel pile in our backyard . By the time I was 3 years old, I had quite a collection... my parents had pictures of me showing them off to anyone who listen. LoL!!😅
6:30 ''...not pretty and not worthy of tumbling...''
They will look better after a couple of beers, trust me
Hi Mike, 2 1/2 months crunched into 38 minutes - good job!! Lots of great info for rockhounds. Thumbs up! Jim
I crunched those 38 minutes into about 2. Just sayin'.
I love how everyone is quick to defend the ugly rocks. 😂😂❤️
Awesome video! Thank you for staying so committed to telling the full story, I can only imagine the amount of time that you put into this, thank you for taking us on this journey.
Hey Mile great video. I sent it on to my grandson who is learning how to tumble. I think it makes a good instructional video 😊
Pretty rocks!
Well, I see cherts and quartzites so I guess some would.
That polish cycle is really going to look nice
That is the attitude you have to have in a state like Florida,
Interesting experiment ty
I may try and take some of the softer rejects and do a smaller test with them to see if they polish down. Just to see
Another great video. Some of those turned out exceptional! My thought on the 2nd pile, tumble them some more. Is it possible that they just need more time due to hardness being different than pile one that took the nice polish quicker? Looking forward to seeing the batch you teased that was in the other tumbler! Thank you!
I put most of the rocks in the second pile in with some other rocks I had that needed to go back to pre-polish. I think a lot of them were a bit softer than the ones that took a good polish. Not sure if they'll do any better second time around.
I like pretty rock bats 🦇
Mike poka Dot Stones pudding Stones yes. 👍👍👍👍🤣
Could you please tell me more about your homemade tumbler?
Could them Beach Rocks have come from Mexico??? Was there any Info on the Bag as to where the Rocks came from, if not, Call the Store / Purchasing Dept and just maybe they'll have an answer, they more than likely be happy to tell you.
How much is your grit budget for a year can it be reused?
Hey Mike I've an idea for you; Why don't you try wire wrapping some of those Rocks for jewelry and Sale it? I bet you could make you a little stash of money what'd you think Mike? 👍🤣
I have an artist friend who does that. I'll probably be sending her some stuff to wire wrap. Unfortunately I don't have an artistic bone in my body (I'm an engineer). I'm trying to overcome that though.
Oh I know what you mean Mike 🤣👍lol But I do make Jewelry beads Necklace sets Bracelets Earrings Anklets etc....
What you with water in the boxes to polish the rocks
What you put in the box to polish rocks
Are you able to reuse the grit?
Not the heavier grits. They break down in use. In theory the polish could be reused, but it would take some effort to clean it up. Generally I just use new at each stage.
Why doesn't the grit wear away the tumbler
Mike looks like you might have some CARNELIAN STONES IN THAT BAG OF GORGEOUS ROCKS BRO 👍🤣👋 I LOVE ROCKS AND STONES 🪨🪨🪨🪨❤️👍🤣👋 Absolutely they should take an awesome Polish Mike 👍🤣 Mike I'm subbed your Channel now👍🤣
Awesome, thanks for subscribing!
You're very much welcome
So now we are rock shaming? It's not the rocks fault that you don't find them pretty enough. I am not sure how to react to this
I'm ugly, so I can get away with shaming ugly rocks.
Rocks tell a story.. the longer you study a rock, especially in the "wild".. it can tell you some crazy things
I think the appropriate response would be to leave quietly.
Yes repolish the rock bats 🦇
Rock bats 🦇 who don't get in the tumbler 🥃 caves are meant for another purpose.
note to self: Gneiss = not nice.
