Let me tell you. We haven't even seen Yhwach in 1% of his power. This is just a scratch. On top of that Yhwach can use Yama's bankai
There are better fights coming. Way better.
If you remember the Quincy king, he said that it's not that he couldn't steal the old man Bankai but it's that the old man Bankai is so strong that only him could handle it. So if the old man fought the real Yhwach then he would have stolen Yamamoto's Bankai from the very beginning when he uses it and Yamamoto would have lost when the fight started right then and there.

Just to clarify something, Yamamoto talking shit and not ending the fight as soon as possible is intended. There is the fact that he's being arrogant, ofc he will be, he knows how strong he is and he knows he can't show his weak side to the enemy... but most importantly, it's because of anger. His squad got obliterated, his soul reapers got massacred, even his right and left hand man got killed. It's basically the start of the fight. The other characters keeps reminding us too how angry Yamamoto was, to the point that even one of the 'old' captain Shinji never saw him this angry before...
