    This is such a good and analytical review of a chair. Best review I've seen.

    I am 5’7 and this chair is perfect for me. One of the most comfortable chairs I’ve tried. I did try steelcase and Herman miller chairs. Steelcase chairs are hard and uncomfortable 😣 the only one I like is the karman

      @@shrek22 the aesthetics, the back rest is a bit too firm for my taste and it can get a bit hot after long periods of time sitting on it. I prefer mesh because it’s fresher and softer. Besides that, it is an amazing chair.

    I have one with lumbar support and seat tilt features. These two important features do allow to configure the chair much better, as you can tilt the seat so the back side of it is lower and push up the lumbar support to be in exactly the right place.
    Comparing this chair with competitors like Herman Miller, I find this chair to be much more comfortable, flexible and adjustable for different people needs. Head rest would be great, though, but even Aeron doesn't have one officially

    I have the adjustable lumbar support on my Fern and that puts the lumbar in the right place for me, as someone in the top 99th percentile.

    I agree with this. I bought a Haworth Fern in Canada and for some reason they don't sell the lumbar support on their Canadian models because apparently we don't have spines that need to be supported. The mesh doesn't provide enough support alone, and the natural curve hits you too low in your butt. After sitting in the chair for a week it gave me terrible back pain.

    I have this chair and the steelcase leap but both chairs seem to make my right foot start to numb after awhile. My heels are planted on the ground. Im short at 5'2. Do you think I might need a footrest or look for different requirements in a chair? Perhaps my setup is wrong.

    Hey, I really appreciate the perspective you bring in your reviews. I'm currently in the process of researching for a new chair. I'm considering the Haworth Soji and was wondering if you had any opinions on it. A review of the Soji from you would be great help.

      I’d love to know which chair you went with. I am also stuck between the Fern and the Soji, and I’m really finding it hard to choose. I’m on the shorter side at 5’3 so it’s been kind of difficult to find good info that applies to me specifically. I’d love to know which chair you eventually pulled the trigger on.

    • @OlivierGirard
      @OlivierGirard  Před rokem

      Honestly, the lumbar support is really low. But it's worth having a try, sitting on it and feeling if the lumbar support is at belt level. If so, you can go for it!

  • @Thyrion33
    @Thyrion33 Před rokem +1

    Thanks for the review. Why you write that the optionnal lumbar support is not great ? Have it (without optionnal lumbar support) and indeed feel the pelvis support a little weak..

    • @OlivierGirard
      @OlivierGirard  Před rokem +5

      You're welcome! The main reason for it being not so great is that's not enough to compensate for the too low implementation of the backrest. Moreover, I have experience of it causing additional discomfort in some users. Finally, I have reports that the plastic tends to stiffen with the time; after a while you cannot adjust it anymore: if you move it, it just falls downwards.
      It's really a pity, because the same chair with a height adjustable backrest would be absolutely great for tall people!

    A request for your great channel: I see many people in my IT-proffession genre use gaming chairs (mostly for the price and look probably). Would be very interesting if you could do a non sponsored review (hard to find) on one of those chairs, to enlighten people on an ergonomic standpoint. My back still has a hard time forgetting me using one of those chairs! 😂 Thankfully that belongs to the past for me, but it’s still a trend in the industry and many teenagers begin early in life destroying their posture with this terrible gaming chairs. It’s a multi million dollar industry for sure. Take care!

We do not have Kinnarps dealer here,, and the chairs I try at the store are made for big people. Looking to order online. Thank you!

    • @OlivierGirard
      @OlivierGirard  Před rokem

      Hey! It's a really difficult question: the market changes depending on the country, and many brands I know aren't sold in the US, or the assortment is different.
      There's one I like for short people (and kids), which I reviewed here: czcams.com/video/3u-X9HF17O8/video.html. If you find it, go for it.
      Otherwise, I went to Amazon and searched for those with the shortest seat depth. I found this one www.amazon.com/VigorPow-Armless-Ergonomic-Computer-Adjustable/dp/B08R6VW3VW/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=office+chair&qid=1681033462&refinements=p_n_feature_fourteen_browse-bin%3A23575385011%2Cp_72%3A1248915011%2Cp_n_feature_five_browse-bin%3A23540025011%2Cp_n_feature_nine_browse-bin%3A8729538011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A23558247011&rnid=23558233011&s=furniture&sr=1-2, but that does not mean that I recommend it!! I seems to have a short seat pan, but I don't know how comfortable the backrest is (doesn't seem adjustable in height, and I can't determine if there are pressure points caused by the frame). If you manage to sit on it, it might be worth trying... but again, buying on a chair without testing it is a risky game...

      On paper, you're 100% right Erwin. But infrastructure departments hate to deal with several suppliers, models, guarantees, etc. Therefore they push for some kind of uniformity... When I was living in your country and working for a big international organization in Rijswijk, we needed 500 chairs over 3 years. Back then, the test results showed that we could satisfy 90+% of the users with the Kinnarps 6000 (old model), provided that we had x% of short seat pans and y% of big gas springs. Only medical cases had a special chair. This way, everybody was happy...
