Where David Hid From Saul | Cave in the Judean Wilderness | The Holy Land | Season 2 - Episode 2

- Wilderness is usually barren and lacks water, but there's an oasis on the western side of the Dead Sea called Ein Gedi which literally means "spring of the wild goats" in Hebrew. It's in this unusually lush and popular tourist attraction in the Judean Wilderness that David hid from King Saul in a cave. As a fugitive running for his life, David did some strange things that even confused his military men. When he had the opportunity to kill Saul, why didn't he? And why did David call out to Saul thus revealing his and his men's location in the cave?
This episode starts with Jack Beck doing what he does best-meeting people and sharing his love for the land and Bible stories. He then invites you into the story of how David transitioned from simple shepherd boy into mighty King all because he’d learned to trust God's perfect timing for his life. You'll understand why David had to hide from the king, and you'll experience just how intense his years of running and hiding were as Jack takes you into the dark cave. You can almost feel the surprise of David's men as Jack walks us through the story of David choosing to honor God's timeline when it seemed easier just to kill Saul when he had the chance. But we can learn from David's wise and humble decisions and find that when the Lord leads us into a personal wilderness, He will help us grow through it.
So join us on this storytelling adventure in the cave and understand why Jack confidently says: "When the Lord takes you into wilderness, you do not come out the same person."

To see the exact place where David was hiding from King Saul is exhilarating. No wonder God said to David a man after my own heart. David realized that God had saved him so many times under the hand of Saul. The Lord still called Him a man after His own heart Because David longed and pursued justice and mercy for God's people. He longed to do works that were pleasing to God, even when his life was at risk. He showed many times that he loved and desired truth and integrity more than his own 🙏💕✝️
I will never get to make a trip to this wonderful wild land. I so enjoy seeing and hearing about it through Jack!!! How I would have loved to go along with him on one of these trips!!! The vastness of the area is so well captured in the drone views. The Bible story of David's foray into En Gedi now makes perfect sense! Thank you!
Its actually not that vast... The whole Judean desert is about 1500 square kilometers (around 350,000 acres, the state of Delaware for example is 1,600,000 acres). The Ein-Gedi reserve is even smaller - it is a 3500 acres (about 14 square kilometers) nature reserve, just about 4 times bigger than Central park.
Once again I am so thankful for the sharing of this video. My spirit feels like new after watching video of the Holy Land each and every time. What a blessing this is for all of us. Thank you Our Daily Bread.

Wow-what an amazing illustration of David and wilderness. Watching this video I couldn't help but think about what I would like to do and that is to be part of a group that goes on hikes through the wilderness looking to reach the summit together. Using these hikes to share stories, struggles, but also scriptures to help us conquer the mountain whichever mountain it is we are trying to conquer to come out better and stronger. Just like David, God molded him throughout the wilderness and made him a better person. Friend if he can do it David he can surely do it for us, Glory to God. Love the content and message.

Thank you for your teachig on the 'wilderness' Dr Beck. It's so strange how the Lord uses this wilderness to 'refine' us and prepare us for His ultimate purpose. We don't all come out if this place as preachers or take on important roles in our society. Sometimes it's just where we need to be before we can face our giants with confidence, depending on God alone...

That is so interesting to me though I loved the psalm 23 I never understood it before as I live in the U.K. we have a tremendous abundance of greenery on England we have no idea what it is like to ever be short of water. The sheep and any goats can be allowed to wander and graze alone for many weeks. I did not really understand the meaning of the good shepherd and he led me beside the the waters. These videos are so rewarding , inspiring they are educating me. Thank you so very much.

Fascinating seeing the actual place that he hid. When I was under attack from someone carrying a Jezebel spirit, who turned others against me and attacked my character, God gave me this scripture : "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14). He did in fact vindicate me. It could have been catastrophic but he turned it around. All we need to do is trust him.

Who knows what God told David in this place before Saul showed up..What he didnt write down...Davids men were professional fighters. They were probably like what are you doing?? but he witnessed compassion, forgiveness and humility to all of his guys. That probably made them follow him even more with more zeal.

Dangerous because of large predators; I believe the the bears went extinct a few hundred years ago and the lions are gone. outside of possible terrorists attacking, I can't think of anything in line of animals that could hurt a human being in that area.
