- We caught a break in the weather two weekends in a row and the snow melted some. It was still cold out but Tyler learned how to use a clutch on his 18 YZ65 and Liam got in some quick rides on his 2021 YZ85 on its initial break in but he froze out pretty early in the day!

The way you showed him how to operate a clutch was awesome you kept positive and gave him reassurance nice job
I appreciate that. His nerves were already running full speed, he knows it’s going on CZcams where his family and friends will see it so the last thing I wanted to do was be the one to push him over the edge
I woulda straight up said “YOUR BURNING UP THE DAMN CLUTCH DUMSHIT”
My dad told me "the law" is what a throttle and good sense of direction is for. Our county banned dirtbike riding. We never stopped.
Loved seeing Tyler succeed pulling away with the clutch! It's so difficult learning it at first, but he'll be dumping and slipping it in no time at all.
He really did great. I thought it would take him longer. I told him next year I want to see him practice shifting 1-3 and 3-1 on some straights until he does it without thinking and then he’ll be set
@@DadsDomain I look forward to see the lad's progress on the bikes when that time comes!
He asked if he can enter a race next year and I am like hey slow down a little, let’s get more time at the practice track. I also know that riding near a 100% is what led to most of my crashes over the years. Need to give him more time practicing before I line him up and he over does anything
Not for me lol I bought my first bike with a clutch and did perfect first time
YES!!! Nice Job Tyler. Congrats Liam.
One suggestion I will make is move the levers in towards the center of the bars as much as you can. This will allow them to have more leverage on the clutch and brake. I never realized this till you watch the setups of like Graham Jarvis and other pros they have just the tip of the lever over the grips for maximum control.
I love it, take your time skill will develop. Good job Dad.
6:15 priceless and good farther n lucky boys 💯👍🏻
I think you're a great father. Stay safe and god be with you!✌✌ cheers
Your a great father letting your kids ride and not fighting in front of your kids. Your a great father.👍👍👍👍👍👍
I appreciate that

Well done mate for having patience for teaching son clutch a down hill rise makes it easy to learn as did this with my boy on ds 80 suz
I really enjoyed getting to teach out at the park that day....it really was a great memory as you know since you got to teach your son as well!
Tyler did a good job with that clutch. I got my klx140 rolling on my second try. But we must consider that 2 stroke clutches are different then trail bike clutches. Rock on man 😎🤘
Ya I consider the 65 clutch to be pretty hard to learn on because that bike doesn't much down low so you're a 100% spot on about a trail bike being different.
Good job dad !!!
Reminds me when I put my 10 year old on his rm 65 his eyes when power band kicks in was price less
Woah you’re going through bikes fast. It feels like a month ago Liam was on the 110
Ya he get lucky on this one. I would have left him on the 65 another year but I didn’t want to own two of them so I move him up. I do see me owning two 85’s at one point though cause you can ride them a lot longer so him and Tyler will be on one
Love it man
This is a great and i mean GREAT coach
The yz series has to be the best sounding 2 stroked out there
you father like i do showing little man how to cluchin and ride with a snile and lots of serportive well done mate and kids done so good
I haven’t got notifications that you uploaded. Even though I’m subbed with notifications
Ya I have seen people complain about that on CZcams before. I think YT pretty much does what it feels like when it feels like it!
@@DadsDomain haha yeah I’m subbed to a lot of people and get no notifications for some reason
Awesome!
@Liam M ?
Lol that was pretty cool my dad did the same thing to me he started me on an 85 ATC250R haha..he did well tho good job
Old 7 mile! One of my kids favorite places and it's only 10 minutes from my house. Happy riding!
I've ridden it enough times it feels small on some days, but to the kids...man its HUGE!!!
old 7 mile in detroit?
@@haileymarie1083 nah 8
Where is that place, the address please
How many inches tall is Liam? I wanna see sizing examples on the 85
Liam is gonna be a beast on that 65
By any chance is that a big wheel??? If it is can you tell me how tall your son is I want to get a yz85 for my next bike but idk if it will be to big
what yz85 exaust was that?
i got a question im 13years old pretty good should i get a crf150r expert yz85 or kx85?
I don’t know if your going to respond but do you know how y’all Liam was on the 85. I wanna know because I’m looking for one
I’m thinking about getting a 85 but I don’t know how big it is how tall is Liam?
how tall was he when he did this? just wondering?
How tall are your boys if you don’t mind me asking?
If you have any old gear your boys outgrew I would definitely be interested. I have a seven year old and I know how fast they outgrow stuff
Me to well idk if the 85 kids Tyler but I went from a KLX110 to a KX85
lmao that one pint when youre like, just hold my hand i laughed out loud. kids like ricky bobby. idk what to do with my hands,
How much was the 65 fr I really want to buy one
the ice break sound🤣
I’m 12 and looking to buy the yz 85 for a beginners bike is it a good decision
How tall is the one that was riding the 85
I’m 4”9 and 1/2 will I be tall enough for a yz 85
how old was Liam when he road his 65
Dude I just got one for Christmas today
Congrats, probably should have waited and done that for Liam but he enjoyed the road trip getting it
cool dude..
Is that an 85 small wheel?
We all remember this saying from our dads
If you can start it, you can ride it
Yep! I remember we had an old yz80 I could never get to start but if he started it for me I was set
@@DadsDomain Ha ha nice my friend has a Kx 65 and a yz 80 both beasts on trails and hill climbs I have a KLX 110 and I'm flat footed so how tall till I can get a yz 85 because That's gonna be what my dad gets me in the summer So how tall would you rate for an 85 right now I'm 4 foot 8in. And a half
@@Jocelyn8333 your tall enough maybe a bit short but worst case you’ll grow into it
@@jonthelamb4549 thanks
Wow
if tyler is having trouble with the clutch to start it what i do is i push my sekf to start it
How tall is Tyler?
how tall was your son who was riding the 85
How old is Liam?
how tall is the kid on the 85?
how tall is the kid with yz85?
Hiw old is the lil one
How tall is he on the 85 I’m wanting to get one and I’m like 5,0 foot
Thats what i wanna know too.. and is it a big wheel or a small wheel….i am 5’1 i could ride a small wheel but not the big wheel i think.. and how much does it lower when he sits on it?
@@Cvarcicc idk I think it’s a small wheel and when he sits on it the suspension makes the bike go down a little
Your a great dad
Thanks I appreciate it! I also like the written proof to show the kids 😂
Dude I want one so bad
I’m like 5’1 ish do you think I would be able to at least tippy toe on the yz 85?
Yep you should be fine. I am drawing a blank but at the moment but Liam isn’t that tall
It’ll be great for u
Im 5 foot and I can touch flat on my 2019 Ktm 85
I’m 4”9 and 1/2 will I be tall enough for a yz 85
I am 5’4 do you think I’m to big for the yz85 or perfect size?
You're at that range I would want you to sit on an 85 and 125, depending on how long your legs are will determine it. Liam and Tyler are close to the same height but Liam has longer legs than Tyler so he fit the 85 faster than I originally thought he would were Tyler is miles away
Where you guys riding?
Is that 7 mile?
Yep!
@@DadsDomain I ride out there just about every Friday. I like that place.
What bike dose the little one have not the 85 the anther
Its a YZ65
im hoping my next bike will be a yz85 i am 12 and my height is 4.8 do you think ill fit on one
Yes I think an 85 makes great sense for you
@@DadsDomain good to know and i forgot to say that ive been riding for almost 3 years and if stuck with yamaha the whole time
is the 85 here a big wheel or small wheel, anyone know?
there is a big wheel it is called a yz85 LW
How tall is your son on the yz85?
I always forget but I want to say about 4'9"
cant wait for my 85 stuck on a ttr125
Same I have ttr 125 and it’s a great bike but can’t wait for my 85 because it will have way more power
Nice job facing your fear
I’m getting a yz 85 soon do you recommend it
Ya they're great bikes. Easy and affordable to work on too so its hard to go wrong
Ya they're great bikes. Easy and affordable to work on too so its hard to go wrong
How tall is Liam?
About 4'8" currently
im sorry its not called a 2 stroke hit its called the power band kicking in but still they are both doing great
I mean its however people refer to it right? Getting on the pipe is another term. A lot of people I grew up around called it the 2 stroke hit...doesn't make it right or wrong
i agree.@@DadsDomain
Do you have to switch gears on a 85
Yep....6 speed gear box, down 1 and then up 5
That’s exactly what I told my kids if you ever get in the trouble and you get scared pull the clutch the clutch is your parachute. And then hit them breaks LOL. And when I got them used to the clutch what I did was once the bike started moving I would tell them to ride the clutch and give it gas but don’t let the clutch all the way out until you are rolling with just the throttle.
Tyler sometimes still struggles with popping the clutch at the end. It’s something he will eventually quit doing. Clutches are easy to swap so I try telling them to not worry about hurting anything
Hey man how tall is it son on the 85
He said about 4.9
as a 14 year old boy do you think the 85cc has enough kick. Keep in mind I am riding a 150cc 4 stroke at the moment.
The 85 itself has a lot of power IMO but I would more so worry about the chassis size. You are getting closer to potentially being ready for a 125
@@DadsDomain ok cool its really hard to find things on a really tight budget at the moment i cant even afford an 85. i will search for a 125
@@DadsDomain Also i have found an 85 that is tall enough for me and i can afford. Just to clarify and 85 has good power right?
How tall is the kid on the 85?

How tall is he I’m wanting a 85
he’s 4’9 if you are 5’0 or over get a yz85 LW you’ll have more room to grow into it
whats the height of your son with the 85?
He said about 4.9
@@ali197599 ok thank you
In Western Washington we had none of that because they wouldn’t let us where we lived in cle elum Washington
Thats too bad, I'm still hopeful E bikes open up more options
Danggggg Liam’s on a 85
Barely but yep he is already on the forth bike he’s ridden!
@@DadsDomain I’m still on my 110 crf 2019 and I’m 10 omg I’m so clumsy right now

What you call a hit is the power band
I know....but someone called it that all the time when I was young and it just stuck as what I say
Hope your kids don’t get hurt I don’t think they will your teaching them good Good job
Nice, lucky kids wheres mine dad lol
Yes they are very luck!
How old is Liam cause I’m 10 and I ride a 2020 Honda CRF150R
He’s 9.5 right now
Wow
Bruh how tall r u?
@@larsonbeez_ who
Wait is the 85 the big wheel
I think only Honda does the two different wheel sizes but I could be wrong. The Honda 150r big wheel has the same size of wheels as this does. 17” front 14” rear
@@DadsDomain hmmmm
@@DadsDomain Yamaha does big wheel bikes aswell and the big wheel yz85 is the pretty much the same size as the crf 150r big wheel
We were out there last weekend too 👊😎

What’s up
First
I got clutch first time on my 85…
But always learning at different speeds
Dont give motorbrake to a 2 stroke!
You are correct. I still like to apply decompression to the rings breaking them in but I am making sure to blip the throttle and not let the Rpm too high for too long. I tried explaining it to the kids that the crank need oil and to get that it needs gas but they didn’t get it so I just told them to pull in the clutch
@@DadsDomain it kinda helps it break in when it’s new a little faster
I live in Idaho lol yeeehah
I think they should switch bikes
That kid can just drop the clutch and go he’s not doing a wheelie
I think what that cop did was messed up because all you are doing is teaching your son how to ride a bigger bike that he doesn’t know much about and you whereby riding on the street doing it
If they had only seen what my dad did teaching me when I was growing up in the country he would have been locked away by comparison! 🤣
help me i wont this

You should have asked him. Lol.
OMG that last comment cracked me up...
Man that helmet shit just like oregons off road atv license crap… i have a motorcycle endorsement on my license i got at 16 passed without any points because I have been riding dirtbikes since i was 5…i do not need to set on a computer for 4 hrs to lean how to ride.. i also ride my sons 50 or my wifes 250 without a helmet aroud my little property where 3rd gear is hard to hit but i may have rode my 450 2 times without a helmet and even then probably wasn’t over 1 or 2 miles not that its right but some times people with authority are rediculous also
