    Outlook for Jamo this year assuming he, ARSB, and Laporta play all 17 games? (Targets, Receptions, Yards, and TD's)
    The Lions saw a lot of single high safeties last year.

    • @johnnygazsports
      @johnnygazsports Před 5 dny

      He has to come close if not supersede what JRey gave last year...40 rec's for 608 yards and 5 TD's. I think he has soooooo much more sped and big play ability that if they can find get him the touches the yards and scores will come naturally. My guess would be that he exceeds this number of catches and yards and finishes around the same (5) rec TD's. But he may add a few rushing TD's as well!

    ARSB reminds me of Jerry Rice. Obviously Rice was bigger and faster than Amon-Ra and his career numbers are unreachable, but they both push far beyond their limitations by outworking everyone else. Many people consider Rice to be the best WR in NFL history but few would consider him the most talented. ASRB is just like that. We got so lucky that he turned out to be who he turned out to be. Brad's the best, but I think he may have made a deal with the devil for Amon-ra to develop the way he has.

    • @johnnygazsports
      @johnnygazsports Před 5 dny

      That's a good comparison! To put him in the category with the best ever is bold but they have similar work ethic and drive. Bread must have a magic eight ball or a rabbit foot back there lol.

    • @adgee5401
      @adgee5401 Před 5 dny +1

      Rice actually wasn’t faster.

    • @johnnygazsports
      @johnnygazsports Před 5 dny

      Agreed ARSB is faster and more twitchy. Maybe a better route runner in general but the comparison for work ethic and drive is spot on!

    Why did the Lions lose in the NFC Championship game?
    Was it going for it on 4th down?
    Josh Reynolds dropping passes?
    Gibbs fumble?
    Goff off-target when he was under pressure?
    Playcalling?
    Coaching overall?
    Player execution overall?
    49ers out played them in the second half?
    Something else?
    I know it's a combination of things, but what do you think?

    • @johnnygazsports
      @johnnygazsports Před 5 dny

      As always great questions.
      It really is a combination of a few things. 49's are just a good team and their talent caught up. But I thought the Lions were aggressive when they could have been safe and safe when they could have been aggressive (didn't go for it on 4th down just before the half...could have gone up 28-7 instead of 24-7). The failed 4th down conversions hurt but we also gave up a freak long play off Vildor's head and Jamo dropped a TD pass late (also you referenced the Gibbs fumble). Any of those plays flip and the Lions could have held off the 49's to go to their first Super Bowl.

      @@johnnygazsports I can't help but think about the scouting combine interview with Gibbs. Scotty Montgomery asks him the best way to secure the ball and Gibbs puts his "clasp" on it. Scotty compliments Gibbs on it and says that he wouldn't want an expensive chain with a cheap clasp.
      Cut to the NFC Championship game and Gibbs runs the wrong way to receive the handoff. He doesn't tuck it in his elbow. Certainly no clasp on it and it easily gets stripped away.
      I know Gibbs is awesome. I know it's not reasonable to expect perfect execution on every play. Still, that was some rookie stuff at the worst moment that stands out to me above the rest. We were in the shadow of our own goal post when he fumbled and they immediately punched it in for 6 points.

    • @johnnygazsports
      @johnnygazsports Před 5 dny +1

      You're absolutely right. A mistake like that cannot happen. I hope that is a true learning moment. Not only for Gibbs but the team. It hurt and still hurts but in the end this team seems to have way to overcome (don't lose back to backs) and I think that will apply over the bigger picture as well. We will need some luck but I feel good about what's to come.

      @@johnnygazsports I feel GREAT about what's to come. I think it all comes down to health and how much improvement is there in the pass defense.
      I was thinking. Even if the new corners underperform on my expectations. This is still the best Lions secondary since I've been watching? Probably. Slay, Quinn, and Delmas may have been the best DB combo we've had in the last 30+ years and Delmas was on the way out when Slay came in. It's been yuck forever.

    • @johnnygazsports
      @johnnygazsports Před 6 dny +1

      Yes the NFL ticket lawsuit doesn’t appear good for the NFL and the owners but this will be a looooooong drawn out process and nothing will truly happen for several years. The fear is that some ownsership groups will have to take drastic measures to pay and the Lions could be one. As this gets closer to true resolution I will update on the channel. For now we should enjoy football!
