Eurovision is my passion. Eurovision was my work and I am still gladly part of the professional community of this project. I started at Eurovision 2016 as Czech Head of Delegation. Such a Eurovision story! Form Eurovision in Sweden I went to antoher ESC experience. Kiiv 2017 Eurovision. This was my first and last failiur. Sometimes you need to learn trough losing even it is not plasant. We ended up 13 in the semifinal, second best score of Eurovision Czechia back then. But after this we established ESCZ national selection format. It was mostly held online. Because of this we found Mikolas Josef who went 6th at Eurovision 2018 in Portugal. Than 11th with Lake Malawi, at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Eurovision story is crazy. After finding all candidates and songs (-1) for ESCZ 2020 I resigned and left the television for working freelance.
Not to stop being part of Eurovision, I created this channel as I have an urge not to do just Eurovision Reactions from a different perspective. But also to do national selection reactions, watch others how they do their craft and also give a different approach for Eurovision fans.
I am very glad was part of many eurovision juries. Mostly in national selection and since 2017 I was in MGP Norway, Eurovision Malta, UMK national selection Finland. Juror in Melodifestivalen 2016. Biggest national selection. Also helped Eurovision Ireland, Eurovision Estonia, Eurovision Azerbaijan and many others.

I really like it because it makes me feel happy. I don’t know how competitive it is, but it’s fun and different.
I feel like Armenia are trying to show us different things the last few years, variety and talent.

To me this is what Eurovision is all about, this is ethnic and joyful. Ladaniva is going to have fun and try to invite us to their own particular party.
Maybe not the most competitive entry but al least I appeciate the song is fully in armenian and the vibe they give feels genuine, I like the styling, let's see what they have to give for the staging.
At this point ... it has chances to qualify imo
I think it has chances to qualify even its at some point an amazing example of degradation and future of the contest, without hating. It make sense at some point as its clear you need to qualify and no one cares about any quality. Songs from now on must attack different senses to get to Grand Finals. Imo send a song without lyrics its fascinating approach.
It’s not fully Armenian, at some point the song goes completely off the script and there is Bolero call, there is chanting, there is Arabic drumbeat, there is a ukulele, it’s a mishmash of a garage sale. I am Armenian and I truly think this is a piece of garbage. Like I wrote somewhere , too many flavors in the song, I love cake and I love steak, but I don’t eat my steak with cake frosting on . She’s lucky that she’s beautiful and that comes from her genes not from her intellect in this case.

Thank you for reaction, You said if you wanted to know anything about Armenia you would search in the internet, but just a moment, this song aims to cause that wish of searching Armenia, you know! Armenia is a small ancient country but few people know about its location, history and culture! So for us, armenians, Eurovision stage is one of the best opportunities to be shown!

The Armenian traditional fruits blessed from antiquity are apricots & pomegranates. Also for Armenians, the pomegranate is a symbol of fertility & abundance.
Eurovision was originally more of ethnic style based on national rhythms and this is what Jaqueline is presenting. We Armenians can dance and party non stop under this music .
originaly it was kinda as you say, it still is whatever each country wishes to be :)
I also feel this is not that competitive, HOWEVER, this is how I felt about Trenuletl few years ago. I was not counting on it at all and it smashed the televote, and the reason I saw many people give is that they see themselves in the songs, it's familiar to them, it brings them to a good familiar place.
And I'm seeing the same comments on Armenia's song this year, that it reminds them of weddings, of feasts (as you said), of celebrations in their own culture. So I'm pretty positive they'll do well.
Also, when you talk about a "World contest"...... The world is made of different things. I love to have local flavors, this is not going backwards, it's showing the culture of your country to people who may not know about it. ESC is not only about getting to know artists (what happens when artists sings in styles we already know. If I listen to Austria's song and I like it I would search for Kaleen discography, not Austrian music per se). But take Ukraine as an example. I loooove Ukrainian music, pop or not, because of the variety they bring in their acts, and the cultural flavors they also bring. And in my opinion the best way is mixing the traditional with something more modern (speaking of Armenia, Lovewave, Jan Jan or Qele Qele, very universally beloved songs), but traditional traditional also has a place in many people's hearts and should have a place at ESC.
Also, about the "World" comment. If people can't appreciate other cultures then THEY live in a bubble, not us xD I'm open to any style artists send, not what I normally like or expect. This is why I feel many viewers get mad at juries, it feels like they want something and have a bias going for this something, and if the song is not what's in their field they disregard it. That's why more cultural entries seem to not get praise while the well produced pop gets lots of 12 from juri.
people are mad at juries as they not vote for the same stuff, that brings balance. And I agree with your amazing comment. It just depends where will Eurovision go. If it become a national music expo without anything more, it will turn off more viewers than bring. Most succesful years were, when countries wanted to bring "better" songs, than US can produce. Ofc this is a different topic. But there is something about it. Thats why people watch champions league, and thats what I think can make Eurovision bigger and maybe also with more space around for cultural things. Cuz sooner or later with thise trends, we will loose quality and without it Eurovision fastly tend to become again a guilty pleasure.
@@JanBors I think you can have both tho. It's about finding the balance of showing off your culture and something very specific and unique (people like uniqueness) but also in a way that is approachable for foreign viewers (people don't like to be alienated). That's the recipe of success, that's what Turkey 03, Ukraine 04 and Greece 05 did 3 years in a row that many countries tried to replicate, they managed to make something approachable but also very personal. In my humble opinion, that's the recipe for massive success at Eurovision.
Bringing it to a more contemporary moment, I think Toy is a good example of this. It was original enough to attract attention, it was mainstream enough to not scare people off, it had it stupid moments for people that enjoy these things, it had big vocal moments that jury like and it also had a bit of a cultural flare, and yet it doesn't sound messy. I personally don't like the live performance but the song is everything you want of an ESC entry. I could go on and on and give more examples, because it can go more mainstream, I think Arcade is a great example of that.

Nothing against bringing one's own culture, but this year, the attempt to make it palatable to others is missing. For many, it has become just an expo of traditional music, and many Eurovision fans are just fawning on songs which are, quite frankly, rubbish. This is one of them.
Just 3 years ago, we had Maneskin and Duncan Laurence with their serviceable radio-friendly songs gracing even US charts. Hell, even 2022 produced Rosa Linn, who didn't win but whose song became viral worldwide.
This year we're back to the early 2000s, the worst years of Eurovision. 2/3 of the songs chosen this year are quite literally a skip for me. How far we've fallen in 3 years.
In recent years I defended Eurovision from claims that it was a rubbish music festival, but the way it's going I think I'll start having to agree.

I totally agree with you . This is real ethic Armenian song. This is very much Eurovision style song .Although I would suggest you to listen to LadaNiva songs since they were formed 2019 .

Ladaniva is known as a WORLD music & songs group based in Lille France, with an emphasis on Armenian songs. They aslo have other group members, who are not participating in this Eurovision entry. If you listen to their discography, you will sense the vibes of their songs. They have also composed French songs & covered worldwide folk songs. A lot of their songs are upbeat & happy for dancing. However, they also do have some slow, melachonic folk songs which they have covered from various countries. This will give you a different side to their songs & this one is Armenian (a cover of a song 14 yrs ago), performed in Yerevan.

Both these songs give me goosebumps, because when you can understand the lyrics & song meaning, it stirs up emotions in you. :)
This is also experimental music & sounds, which they practise using any objects to combine their creativity.

I have been following this contest for 28 years and what I have seen in these 28 years is that most of the time in this contest silly, superficial and contentless songs are more popular and get higher scores. This song is lacking suitable lyrics and is not competitive as you said but still is a suitable choice for politicvision. Thank you for your reaction.

They are becoming well known in France & have many fans, besides the Armenian diaspora. They originally always participated in concerts of mixed acts, music & song carnivals. They have now become so popular that from last year they set up concert dates for 2023 & 2024, all throughout France & some other European cities.
This song is cute, just not interesting enough to consider as a contender even to qualify. Traditional sounds have a place in Eurovision, but it has to be done in a clever way that excites. Unless the goal is just to lay low for a year and just promote the country.
This song is not a local ethnic group....you don’t know music well. The song contains a mix of folklore from the Balkan countries, Greece, village songs from France, India and even something from the Scandinavians...... It's not just la la la

When was the last time Georgia gave us 12 points? Ehhm..... Yeah, I don't remember it either. If any countries are still passing each other the brotherly points, it's definitely not the Caucasus + or - Russia, Belarus, Ukraine system of the past. The Balkans and Nordics on the other hand... I don't expect everyone to like an ethnic/folk entry, not even this one but I express gratitude for the uncalled rudeness in the comments below towards this song, country also for the globalization approach which essentially destroys the best thing about each country - culture. You go enjoy the Rosalia, Dua Lipa the West feeds, we'll humbly remain traditional.

Don՚t worry Greece NEVER gives points to Armenia, just like last year. Not 1 point for the multitalented Brunette; which I remember you adored her & called her a "superstar!" GreeSe usually give points to Azerbaijan, even 12 points, no matter the quality of the song! 😖 But CYPRUS usually give Armenia some points, thx CYPRUS! ❤ Generally the corrupt Juries RUBBISHED Brunette with low points & she certainly deserved to be in the top 10! So who cares if maybe Armenia flops this year; after last year' angry disappointment for me. After all its just the ESC, so no big deal & I will not be watching it this year for sure & maybe never as I have reached my last straw. I still feel a lot of resentment from last year & the competition in general. Cheers :)

@@JanBors I appreciate your opinion. But I remember, from a third of all the Juries at least, there was Nil points given to Armenia. I believe that for some reason, Armenia just got a bad rap last year because of the success of Rosa Linn from the previous year. It wasn't Brunette' year, she should have participated this year! lol
I'm not averse to ethnic songs (Greece is my favourite this year), but this very quickly went towards the bottom of my list ... I don't understand Armenian, but it didn't sound like Armenian.
