- Retired President Daniel Arap Moi's sensational revelation that he had been actively supporting departed Internal Security Minister George Saitoti's presidential bid. Speaking when he visited the late Saitoti's home to condole with the family, Moi termed his vice president of 13 years as an efficient man who never quarrelled with anyone. However, it will be remembered that Prof Saitoti acrimoniously fell out with the retired president in 2002, when he by-passed him, and unilaterally endorsed the then political greenhorn, Uhuru Kenyatta as his preferred successor, despite Prof Saitoti's years of loyalty and experience.
