Thanks so much for watching this week’s video on this 2022 Hyundai Elantra! It is unique in that it uses the new (EXPENSIVE) cartridge filters! Only Hyundai carries them at the moment, aftermarkets have not had an offering for it as of the upload date of this video.
Please comment below on a vehicle you’d like to see done! I have lots of customers with a variety of vehicles!

Thank you!
Very clear and straight forward. Will be changing oil from a 2024 Kona next week. Thank you for saving me time and up and down under the car
Thank you for the kind words!
(Canada) Sonata Sport 1.6L 2022 (Turbo Engine) 26330-2M000 filter fits.
Thanks for the updated info!
Very clear and to the point video.
Glad it was helpful!
You’re the goat for this one man.
I appreciate you!
THANK YOU SIR!!! U R THE MANNN!!!!
You're welcome!
Can’t make it any clearer than that. Nice video; good camera positioning. I assume the location of the drain bolt makes it o.k. to keep the front of the vehicle elevated for complete drainage?
Thanks! I appreciate the comment.
Definitely, its at the back of the pan, and if anything the angle with the front tires up helps it drain faster.
Thanks a lot
Muy bueno Gracias ya aprendí como se hace el cambio de aceite que Dios te bendiga siempre
Thanks!
Thanks for your videos Brother.
Thank you!
👍Thank you very much for sharing this knowledge!!
Glad it was helpful!
If you have the N-Line version(1.6 turbo), this video is very similar other than the filter drain is a plug and a plastic pin you will need a needle nose pliers. The filter cover is a 24mm and the oil pan plug is still a 17mm. Just under 5 quart capacity.
Thanks for that! I would love to have an N Line in someday for a change!
Thank you 🙏🏼
You’re welcome 😊
Awesome video 👍
Thank you 👍

2023 Elantra oil filter. No auto parts store carries it. Wow. 👍. I think it's the same as 22. Good job on the video.
Thank you!
Yes it’s super annoying that the only options are WIX (on rockauto) or OEM. My local dealership charges $38.05 for the filter kit… CAD but still
Napa has oil filters for this car
@@SuburbanRedneckGarage $38?! Plus oil isnt it cheaper to just let the dealer do it
@@Onlyinbean the dealership prices are $89.99 for synthetic blend, or $129.99 with synthetic for this car. Plus tax of course lol. I still come in cheaper for my customer.
Prices are in CAD. But still ridiculous
@@SuburbanRedneckGarage No they are not 😂 I live in one of the top 5 most expensive states its no more than $80 for full synthetic
Well done 👏 thanks
Thanks for watching!
On the o ring you just insert it but in no certain area for the tab. Because the plastic cap has a little bow or outer raise on it on outside. Didn't know if tab goes in a certain spot on the cap.
Yeah the o-ring just goes in, there isn't a particular notch for the lip to go in, its just there to ease in getting it out with pliers or a screwdriver.
Interesting ❤
مرحبا ماهي ألة الفتح التي استخدمتها في فتح غطاء،الفلتر هل هي يدة راجز ام يدة عزم يرجى الرد لطفا
You will need a 24mm socket to open the filter housing
سوف تحتاج إلى مقبس 24 ملم لفتح غلاف الفلتر
What would happen if you put O ring the other way by accident??
It likely wouldn’t seal properly and you could develop a leak
Just did this and the stupid plastic filter housing is now leaking oil. Super slow but its there around the upper part where it seats against the engine. I checked the torque and found 11.6ft/lbs online. I torqued it down, it did move just a hair but i hope that did it. ... Ugh why in the world they designed it this way is beyond me.
Gimme the Fram PH2 filter on the F150 any day!
Sorry that happened to you. It sure is annoying, and yeah when a leak happens there’s not too much you can do!!
Hi brother
From where i can get oil filter kit
I get mine from the local Hyundai Dealership, but you can get aftermarket ones on Rockauto. WIX makes an excellent aftermarket filter
Is this same setup as in hybrid model?
I’m not sure. Haven’t worked on a hybrid model yet. If it’s got the 2.0 as a backup engine I’d assume it to be similar
Is this the same for an sel 23?
I’m not sure if the new vehicles use the spin ons, or new style cartridge filters. Check with your dealer to be sure
How far do you go on this oil؟
With Amsoil OE you go the manufacturer oil change. In this case 8,000 kms.
With Amsoil Signature Series you can go up to 40,000 kms or 25000 miles
Love it! Quick simple easy tutorial nothing more than that! 👍🏽
Thanks for the comment!
Just bought a 23 Elantra. How often do you suggest drain and fill on the trans. I was going to follow the severe service and do every 60k miles.
Yeah I would recommend every 60k miles. I’ve read on some forums every 30k miles, but if it isn’t acting up you can definitely do it every 60k.
I service a Kona and we had to change the CVT fluid at 45k miles because it was shifting funny (slamming/ shudder). After using Amsoil CVT fluid it hasn’t done it since. I’m sure other CVT fluids would work, but Amsoil hasn’t let me down
Great thanks for the info. Do you think using amsoil cvt fluid vs Hyundai would void the power train warranty
Amsoil has its own Warranty if it was denied by Hyundai. Since the CVT oil meets Hyundai specs, there should be no issue, but if there is, and Amsoil fluid caused the failure, Amsoil has a separate warranty for that! Though in the 7 years I’ve been using / selling it, I’ve never seen a failure because of Amsoil.
How many miles before oil change did you do?
I change the oil every 8,000 kms on this vehicle. It has just created 100,000 kms, so I am going to start using an aftermarket filter at the request of the owner to reduce maintenance cost.
Does it have to be ramps?
Nope you could do it with a jack and jack stands if you wanted, or drive it up on a curb. Need to get it up unless you are super thing; which I am not haha
Do they only use those specific filters? Kinda sucks if that was the case.
Their car is still under warranty for 20,000 more kms, so we are going to stay with OEM until then. Once warranty is over WIX has a filter for 1/4 the price. Excited to switch and help them save money lol
@@SuburbanRedneckGarageas long as you get the right part number it doesn't have to be the filter from the dealer whether it's under warranty or not
@@thechosenone8886 when dealing with Hyundai Canada, I’ve found it easiest for my customers to use OEM in the warranty period, and then switch to aftermarket.
We don’t have Magnuson-Moss in Canada.
For 2022 Sonata Sport 1.6L same Filter used?
I’m not sure. I would confirm with your local dealer.
@@SuburbanRedneckGaragethanks ☺️
In Canada Sonata Sport 1.6L 2022 (Turbo Engine) 26330-2M000 filter fits.
Go Canada!
Haha thanks!
List of tools please
There’s a list in the description!
17mm socket - for drain bolt
27mm socket - for oil filter housing
8mm Allen hex socket - for oil filter housing
Note: Make sure to buy any socket with 3/8" drive so it fits your ratchet and breaker bar.
You need 3/8" drive ratchet.
If drain bolt is too tight, u also need 3/8" breaker bar.
It bugs me that the filter is based on so much plastic. Always paranoid that something is going to crack
100% lol. Important to use the right stuff for sure, like the super shallow sockets. I feel a deep socket would allow for some extra movement and could possibly damage it over time. Who’s knows though, but plastic is always scary lol
Plastic doesn't rust. They engineer them to not crack, do not worry
4.3L
This model didn’t come with a 4.3L
@@SuburbanRedneckGarage
Maybe, but I have a 2021 model that only requires 4.3 liters
Oh I understand sorry. 4.3L is roughly equal to 4.5 quarts
Never mind, the defect has been clarified so that it can be clarified to people. It comes with 4.3 liters only. Have a good day

I hate these companies that use these stupid cartridge filter. No reason for them. Total pain in the ass and messy as fcuk.
I totally agree. Nothing wrong with the old spin on.
