By far the best series of tutorials for UE4 I’ve watched so far. Everything else is either sped up or 4 hour tutorials. Thank you for breaking everything down
The 4 hour one is just as good. You clearly haven't watched it. It's just like this but them everything put together. There also is a playlist of it so it's essentially the same as this.
@@rathore3991 thanks for commenting yes on something I commented 2 years ago
@@yunobog7525 ya I was thinking that if you will reply or not so I typed yes😅
Btw the one 4 hour video are you talking about is of unreal sensei!
And how far you have came into game development 😁
just started watching your videos thanks for explaining everything so well :)
Hey Virtus, thanks for the tutorial. Can you help me with a question? Why is it that when I increase the overall resolution it increases the number of components, resulting in a larger landscape but with the same resolution.
In v4.19 when I create a landscape there is are no dark grey "grids" (/dividers) running vertically and horizontally on the newly created landscape. Has this been removed in v4.19 due to a default material change?
eagerly waiting for the next part :)
Great series!
Wow...speechless
0:23 yeah I heard that JBL
OMG !! You have so many videos for everything on unreal engine ! Why the hell I will search anywhere else now OR buy a damn course on udemy or anything??
You are just awesome man !!! Just awesome
Finallyyyy found a proper terrain tut for unreal. Thank you so much
Wheres the link to the height map importing video
😻 Thanks for this! 👏
In unreal engine 5 you will not have to worry about the number of vertices! Man that`ll be awesome
You still will. That's just shit devs say lol. Even 20 million of tris is still a lot. Outside of quadro 8000 or titan rtx you wouldn't be able to run something full scale wo down sampling of some sorts.
amazing vid man, and the graphics on the unreal engine are...well unreal lol their amazing, and what you did with it is pretty awesome. just one quick note i'm sure you've gotten this quite a bit though....but....it sounds as if your continuously hitting the mic, annnnnnnd it is borderline annoying to say the least, might wanna fix that mate.
Question: Once you created a Terrain, is it possible to increase the size bigger without influencing the already created hills etc?
it may be one of the options where u select the size of the landscape, you can select it again where it says select section you click the dropdown and hit landscape options I am pretty sure this is how you resize it idk about not influencing the hills I would think the parts that were resized will be flat
@@omnianima4540 nup, got some likes tho 😋. All jokes aside, the term I had to look for was "expand" found a solution pretty quick on Google. Was a while ago tho.
Thanks for the video.
This is so helpful
pls go on with this series
Awesome Videos
And the lines on the terrain?
I really appreciate this in depth tutorial, because it helps me understand how I can create a fairly large open world landscape while still having quality gameplay. My project is an open world, action rpg that has Norse mythology and gothic influence mixed into the world, along with some cyberpunk in there once the plot thickens. So I really needed to understand how to create landscapes that are big. Again, thank you for this awesome and easy to digest tutorial.
Hey man, have you found an answer to your query?. I am pretty much on the same boat right now (11/23/2020). This is my first time trying to create a game, and for my concept I can't figure out which is the better answer: to create the entirety of the map on low res and have the engine call for the details and other good stuff as the player approaches each region?. or to chop the whole map into self contained "rooms" and have the engine load them up as the player approaches the boundaries of each room.
I am going to keep looking around, but for each helpful bit of information, there is a thousand bits that are poorly constructed or worded that do not help at all, or just create more confusion.
I have a custom pc [ Intel I5-9400, 16GB RAM, MSI GTX 1650 SUPER Gaming X] Which I finding to have enough power to handle UE4. Thanks for providing a simple video on how to use the landscape tool.
Where did you get this landscape
Hi Sir I want to learn ue4. I don't even know the basics now. How can I get started
i don't see the link to the other videos in the description?
Hello virtus, can you make a video about android package project: what is android (atc) (dxt) (etc1) ... and these things.
Thanks
Hi Virtus. Where's the tutorial link to use images as a reference? from the real world
?
It is not in the video description as you speak in the tutorial.
terrain.party/ you can download the height maps from this site. then use UE4 to import it in. Once downloaded the readme file will explain a bit about it.
is world machine or other terrain creation software worth the money for ue4 landscape creation?
you can use Blender GIS and terrain.party/ for pretty amazing terrain height maps. both are free.
how to know how many kilometers is our landscape by changing the number of components? what is the measuring unit of UE4?
bro i got curious and clicked that create button for landscape terraintihng and my character is black on one side now wut do i do?
It’s a silly question how much will it cost to make a map approximately ?
You could always make it yourself, watch my courses and you'll learn how to do just that using Blender/Unreal.
If you want a bit of extra help, I advice you checkout our Discord community which has over 3,000 over Unreal Engine 4 developers!

can anyone tell me how to merge multiple landscape and make it single and bigger landscape
m not been able to see modes option to select landscape mode
Who else is watching this because they've been stuck in the house for months during the winter? And just wants to simulate the outside because you're so bored?
Thank!!
Hello, can you help me please I have a question that I can't find an answer to.
Nice. Can I create a ring-like terrain? Like the city in Elysuim movie.
you would probably have to make the ring geometry in another 3D app and import it. I'm pretty sure you could then use UE4 to sculpt onto that.
Download link to the level you show? Please, always provide downloadable level so we can load it and play with it. This one here looks super amazing. Would love to look around in it with my Odyssey+ VR. Also, why did you made from this a 360p quality video? 1080p should be crystal clear, not soft like that. cheers
terrain.party/ this site and Blender GIS addon for Blender you can get the terrain from anywhere on earth with Blender you can even get while cities.
Thank you for these videos, they've been highly informative. I just want to give you a recommendation: add a low cut to your michrophone. That way you get rid of alot of your room sound and also alot of the thumping from, I guess, your movement.
turn on high pass filter on your mic !!!
As the name suggests it lets the higher frequencies in the audio pass and attenuates the lower ones. Most eq tools on most editors will have one. For a voice over you don’t need much energy in the low end. Most of the noise in this track is pretty low and if you were monitoring on computer speakers you might not have heard it at all but on larger speakers or head phones it’s quite audible.
When they say that they'll link another video in the description...
Okay, I'm a fan...😏😏☕☕☕🖤🥀🖤x🖤✈🖤
Can you import Google Street view?
terrain.party/ you can import hight maps from this site. I'm not positive how to get it into UE4 but you can import whole cities with Blender GIS addon for Blender.
Link in description???
terrain.party/ you can use this site or Blender GIS addon for Blender. both are free
no winter here
I think its a great tutorial you just gotta train yourself not to talk with your hands cuz you hit your desk.
❤❤❤❤❤
Anybody else getting video and voice sync problems or is it just me? I've had these on all videos in this series so far.
I can't even find the option for landscapes on my screen 🤷♂️
Is unreal engine 4 free
??
If yes
So its the best engine for gaming
Thank you so much for taking the time to produce this informative and interesting tutorial but please get your microphone off of your desk - maybe put it in on a mic stand and in a cradle as well? The low-frequency thumping of what I imagine is your hands and arms on your desk is really distracting.
wo is my Unreal Engine 4, MMORPG Game
👍👍
imagine not using clickbait VIRTUS
1:50 he starts tutorial
2nd
your sound is out of sync with the video
STOP HITTING YOUR DESK
First to view
I really really wanted to watch this video but i cannot get past the constant hits on the mic. :(
Please stop beating the shit out of your desk
the thumping is so annoying
Im curious why video games dont look like this at all ever.............. even the survival games. Doesn't look anthing like this. Whatsoever. Ever.
what are showing in start and what u doing just wasting time
So basically. You wasted 10 minutes. To show how to create terrain?
the drums in the background are so unbearable... I like your videos but playing music in the background is terrible for the person viewing 3 minutes was enough for me.
@@mACABREnOIR listen between 1 minute and 2 minutes if you cant here the thump thump thump sound like the Mic booming.
Mic is too close to your mouth .
It took all that talking... just to make a fucking hill.
you talk to much for nothing
I can't believe you removed my last comment! Nothing says guilty like removing the comments of people calling you out. For those of you not aware Virtus is copying this series from another channel and trying to cover it up. He's copying a channel called online media tutor. Seriously that's just low dude. I hope you get a dmca strike for this. BTW, if you keep removing my comments I know how to make this a bigger issue for you ;)
+Malcolm Reynolds I've seen his tutorial on Landscape, and being an introduction it's going to be similar anyway. He's a good friend of mine actually. You'll see this series branch out to more advanced topics as it gets into things.
Not only that you'll find I've structured all my tutorials into different playlist as opposed to one big series like my previous one. Of which you'll find similarities in his tutorials to my old beginner series which has been around for years. 😉
Either way, tutorials are a positive. Just gotta admire them xD
Virtus is not copying his work, every body learn and teach others, its called learn process and is doing it for free . where do you think that channel got the information from ? a book found under the sea ? he learned it from other channel or from ue4 forms/tw. if you call this copying then the game you make is not yours since you learned from other and his work made to build your game.
Next time try to respect people who spend their own time to teach you.
If he keeps removing your comments, and what you say is true. I personally will make this a bigger issue for him.
I honestly do, keep letting people steal others stuff. Won't be long before they try to steal yours.
Here we show you what Unreal Engine 4 is capable of and go through an introduction to the terrain tool, make sure you checkout the next video for more landscape goodness!
u need one that shows how to make ROADS
dude can u make a new video of this with out u taping ur table during the entire freaking video holly hell its hard to pay attention to your video with out hear u tap on ur desk please re edited this video
