I am an server (altar server) in England. It’s so amazing! It’s a shame that all churches don’t have servers.
I am 72 years of age ! Started when I was 13 ! From altar boy to Older boy as my priest called me and my cronie ! Being on the altar with priest is most wonderful experience ! it as if Jesus right there with you every step of ones life and with all who attend mass ! Believe me it makes YOU more of a better person towards your brothers and sisters in Christ ! I would not change my feelings at any one time ! I have served funeral masses for friends of mine when asked by the family or even not ! In which I feel is real reward because it is what God is telling me what to do ! I will say this too my younger brothers and sisters if this is YOUR call go for it it is one most WONDERFUL thing YOU can do for YOURSELF ! Let alone God It is the power of God right there with YOU and priest ! Nothing more SWEET and BEAUTIFUL than being that close too OUR LORD Jesus Christ ! All I ask is think about it ! Amazing video! I have been an alter server for a couple years now across different churches, And this is an artfully done video that really does represent what it is to be an alter server.
I was raised in a Catholic family and now I have my own little family of 3❤️. I hope with all my heart that my almost 2 year old son will become an altar server one day in the future if he wants to. I believe it is one of the most beautiful ways to serve Jesus Christ.

Altar servers are very important to help the mass run well. I often see them spend their time and energy to practice hard after school or even during holiday to give their best service which make them so precious and so valuable as part of the mass.
I'm a 55 year old altar server...I'm also an Army officer, 25 years. For me, serving at the altar is like being on parade. Your black shoes have to be shone and clean, don't fidget, eyes front. You are on parade in front of the King of the Universe...so you got to do it right.

I've been an acolyte for 3 years and it changed my life when I joined my mom forced me to join but I thought it was boring but now I'm so glad that my mom forced me to join beacouse now I'm considering priesthood beacouse every time I serve in masses I always admire the priest and sometimes I even want to be a priest and trough my 3 year journey of being an acolyte I gain so many friends.

This is a beautiful video. I'm an altar server (in my denomination, we are called "acolytes"). It has been something I've yearned to do for my entire life. My Catholic Church allowed female servers, but my parents were against it.
Now I am a young adult, and have chosen a church of my own. I am free to take advantage of all of the many opportunities the Episcopal church offers everyone, regardless of their sex.
I respect denominations that prefer a strict division between males and females, but I must say that females are just as capable and get just as much out of this beautiful experience as males do.

I'm sorry, but nobody gets to decide who is or isn't Christian. Christianity is believing in Jesus Christ and all that he did and stood for. @@catholicfamily6719 I serve Mass perhaps once a year, as I have three young children, and my parish has an abundance of young men and boys to serve the Lord. I would recommend this experience to anybody, and I will also soon be teaching my son how to do so as well.

I was an altar boy (altar server). It was fun. I remember thinking, "I wanna be the kid that gets to put the stuff on the altar! >:0". My favorite service was when the bishop conducted service. I screwed up too many times to count but looking back it was a cool experience.

Umm priests get paid too, right? They dont take a vow of poverty and make more than most lay professional ministers. Many women religious also get paid to be professional ministers.

As someone who was allowed to be in the first group of girls trained as an altar server in the 90's, I'm so disappointed in how we've moved backward in time. I loved altar serving and it was among the things that led me to a vocation in professional lay ministry.

Cool looking sacred vessels our sacred vessels is old and quite rusty we have 6 kinds of bell in our church
1 Sanctus Bell 2 Single bell 3 The bell we us during processions 4 The Two Bell on the bell tower 5 We have an indoor bell 6 Matraka (we use this during holy week) anyways our old vessels is supee old our church was built in 1977 which is a long period of time The sanctus bell isn't that loud anymore ;(

I am not RC but the service is interesting....have been to Mass many times, including a funeral during which we were all invited to take Communion, which I found surprising. mind you it was a military Padre and funeral on base, and I always found them most ecumenical regardless of their faith. When I was active duty we had a RC Padre who had converted from Anglican, he was married and had children. Special dispensation from Rome.
I'm an altar server. And I'm a girl. I thought girls can't be altar servers. I'm in 4 years of serving God. I like serving cause I get a lot of friends and I enjoyed serving. When I get closer to God, it feels like I want to serve more. But that's not just my reason. I like the feeling when I serve God, I like it when I go through the altar helping the priest. My first day of serving was so scary cause I'm scared of getting mistakes of serving while there's a lot people looking at you and you'll get ashamed. But, I thought that was it. My first day was so good. And I get confident in serving. I don't care if I get mistakes in serving. At least I did my responsibilities as an altar server
Please be very careful. NEVER EVER let yourself be alone with a catholic priest. Run out of the room if you need to. If any priest does something inappropriate to you go to the police FIRST. Do not discuss it with anyone from the church until after you have talked to the police. Be take care of yourself first.

I am an adult altar server at my Cathedral, I am a female. I find that females on the altar are not a distraction but more of a blessing in the Church. Who's to say that females don't find their vocation to the Religious life just as the same that males find their vocation to the priesthood. As for Lord Dreagon, I find females just as capable on the altar as they are in the military. And if the females are causing a distraction either in the battlefield or on the altar it surely rests with the person that is being distracted not who they are being distracted by. And to you Jenna, do not be nervous, if you make a mistake, brush it off. The reverence one gives while learning is most important not how perfectly things go. To all females and male servers...we are the assistants of the priest, the assistants of Jesus Christ. Do not be discouraged by others we are in great need in many churches today. I so agree!! Tomorrow is my first day as an Altar server, and I love it already, by the training I took! Anyways, girls being Altar servers is amazing. It keeps kids my age out of Hollywood, and in The Church, in The House of God! Girls my age constantly worry to look like the Hollywood stars, and I personally don't want to. When I go to Church, the worlds troubles are closed out, and God is there comforting everyone! So it is great being part of this way of serving God! :)

Leah Landis Because in no way are the virtues of poverty, chastity, and obedience introduced, practiced, or carried out through altar serving. But PRIESTLY qualities are introduced, practiced, and even obtained through altar serving. No, I don't believe female altar servers are a distraction, but altar serving is not a very good way to discern a possible calling for the religious life. It's a way to get closer to God in the liturgies, but in no way are you mimicking the life of a religious sister or brother. But in a lot of ways, you are mimicking the life of a priest.
I don't have a problem seeing a female altar server at the altar, until they start outnumbering the guys. I also have a problem with, "girls have just as much of a right to serve as guys do." Well no, not really. You're given a privilege. Your bishop, in your case, or whoever is your pastor has a right to not allow girls to serve at the altar. John Paul II gave girls this privilege, but said that the pastor of that parish and change that if he pleases.
In today's generation the best example for each and every alter boys is blessed Carlo acutis a great example of today's youth n modern technology love towards sacrament .
Yes, but I would include at the forefront St. Tarcisius, a very young boy who was killed by robbers bravely delivering Consecrated Hosts to persecuted Catholics in the Third Century.
