    Good idea - it will help take your mind off other worries and end up with a unique piece of furniture.This is the way we did it when I started (50 odd years ago) and the job of hand ripping timber was given to the apprentices resulting in odd sized timber and some nasty injuries. I well remember the arguements when M & T joints were replaced with dowels!!
    Look forward to seeing the rest of the build, hope it goes well.
    Chris

    Hi Joey. Watching you all the way from eastern Canada. I hope this video series shows people how you can build furniture with minimal tools. Working with hand tools is so satisfying. Looking forward to more. Cheers

    LMAO!!! New definition...If you can hold it in your hands, it's a hand tool. Love it!!!!

    You are the only wood-worker I've seen on CZcams who NEVER puts a plane down on its sole - something my grandfather taught me when I was about your boy's age. Look after your tools and they will look after you. Kia kaha, kia ora e hoa

    Perhaps you could make a small shooting board for making those 45 and 90 degree ends?

    Theo was asking some great questions, neat to see him working with you.
    Nice to see your portable bench being used for apartment woodworking, which is why you designed it that way. I still haven't seen another bench i like as much as yours.

  • @cobberpete1
    @cobberpete1 Před 4 lety +3

    Ha, Ha, I had a premonition when I saw the board on the floor that a sneaky power tool was about to appear, You haven't got a Sawyers bench so how else were you going to do it 😎. but at least you did not hide it. Wow is that kid growing. I remember seeing him in the early days when he was a babe in mums arms.

    This is great! It occurs to me that you could temporarily mount narrow guide blocks to the bench inside the vise for repeatability. Can't wait for more!

  • @bighands69

    For a table leg you only need for two sides to be squire. That is the side that the rails will go into which will be on two sides.
    The outside display could be any shape or standard of finish you want. So you only really need to check for square on one corner.

    Actually, you may drive to the shop safetly, but turn the air circulation system in your car only for closed circuit cockpit tipe ventilation, not forom outside ...
    When you get outside outside use closed respirator ( without any hole ) it is not convenient for longer time usage but you will be safe...

    I dont quite understand advantage of rounded corners. Is it just to not grab.

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
      @KingPostTimberWorks  Před 4 lety

      If your planning timber wide than your plane, you dont want the corners of the blade making gouges in the surface, so gently easing the corners of the blade largely stops this.
