Workshop on Piezoelectric Applications in Oral Surgery

The College of Dentistry, GMU organized a comprehensive lecture and a hands-on workshop on ‘Piezoelectric applications in Oral Surgery’ showcasing the Mecron Piezoelectric system on the 29th of May 2024. The session was facilitated by Prof.Hesham Marei, Dean, College of Dentistry, and Dr. Marc Nehme, Managing Director, New Al Farwaniya Surgicals and Medical Equipment, U.A.E.
During the lecture, Prof.Hesham focused on evidence-based concepts of piezosurgery and its wide range of applications in the field of Oral Surgery, Periodontology, and Implant Dentistry. He showcased his surgical cases highlighting various methods of performing maxillary sinus bone grafting and ridge split techniques. Furthermore, Prof.Hesham demonstrated the technique of performing lateral sinus lifts on study models followed by hands-on practice by the participants.
Postgraduate students specializing in periodontology enthusiastically participated in the session, joined by faculty from Periodontology and Oral surgery.
