Awesome rip, Bob. It was fun to watch along as you discover the Illusions set. 🤗 I'm a big fan of Illusions, very underrated. I love the look and shine of the base cards, and some of the inserts (such as acetate) are really cool.
I think the word you were looking for when describing that textured/layered feeling is "embossed". 🤔🌻
You definitely can get numbered cards out of Illusions, the best I got was a Joker insert # to 10. Another person in the comments mentioned what the parallel names of the base cards (such as Sapphire, Emerald etc). Depending on what type of box you're opening (blaster/hobby/fatpack/tmall), the box will state what certain colour parallels you can pull that are more common but aren't numbered, while the other coloured variants ARE numbered depending on rarity.
A little hint which I hope helps is if you look carefully, you'll notice that the regular base cards have the player's name, border art and the "I" for Illusions logo all printed in a GOLD foil font.
Whilst the parallels and inserts card fonts will be printed in a SILVER type of foil instead. Even your Starlight SSP's players name/logo has been printed in a light blue turquoise foil, rather than silver or base gold.

That Ben Simmons amazing is the Asia version. Those Amazing inserts have multiple colors I have Green, Blue, Yellow, and orange of tatum. Depending on what box or format you pulled it from you can get basically get their parallel version from what I understand. Also the non asia base parallels like those in the mega are called Sapphire, Emerald, Orange Trophy collection, Pink Tropy Collection, the one you got with the stars is called Starlight. etc. etc.

I have had so many people say that 2020 Illusions is an underdog and I couldn't agree more. There are some cool cards in Illusions if you can get past the base cards.

Ive bought a few of these looking for Ant cause i really like the look. End up with a lot of base cards though. These end up being perfect for single hunting which is what ive started doing for this version of panini.

I enjoy the acetate cards, so I am looking forward to 2023/24 Panini Illusions - Wembanyama, Miller, Henderson, Jaquez and Thompson brothers for the Rookies. The current Superstars are always featured on the acetate cards - James, Durant, Curry, Antetokounmpo, Doncic and Edwards.
I am not sure if we are getting Illusions, it has been made for the last two years. But it would be awesome if they do!!

Good question! I started with Pokemon when I was super young, and have collected that until now. But the variety in that has become less interesting to me. Always big basketball fan and 3 years ago I tried my first hobby box and got hooked since! What about you?

I used to collect b-ball with my Dad when I was like 10, then Pokemon base set in middle school until the dean took my binder lol... Didn't get back into collecting until a PackMan video made it's way onto my CZcams suggested videos during the pandemic 🤦
