Thank you CaptainAB, I couldn't remember how I first installed MSFS and ended up installing the sim into the default path on a separate drive which placed the Community folder deep within the MSFS folder structure. This results in an issue where the destination path is too long and add-on's cannot be installed successfully. I am so glad that I came across your CZcams channel. I agree James. I spend two days trying to figure out how to do it without X-Box or Steam. Just straight from MS to my PC, as I did with my X-Plane or previous MSFS versions.

Yes, it will just prompt you to create an account. Regarding what version, that's up to you. You get more scenery and planes with the higher versions but third party addons are coming shortly soon, whatever works best for you :)

Hello to all. Have an issue with my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick. Seems like the throttle when on the ground and trying to take off will not stay on full throttle. It also does not seem to have the settings that I selected and saved for each of the buttons on the Joystick when changing aircraft. Any ideas? I use this same joystick and it works fine on FSX. I looked on the Logitech website to see if I could find a windows 11 driver for it but no luck.

Why is it when I try to install MSFS Standard DVD on my desktop it would always open Microsoft Store, but my activation code stated that I need to install Microsoft Simulator first then redeem my code? Should I just click on "Redeem Code" at the MS Store even if I haven't installed the DVD yet into my desktop? Last question, once I redeem the code will I be able to use it again should I need to reinstall my MSFS Standard DVD? Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks guys! :)
I haven’t got the DVD so I won’t be much help unfortunately but I assume the code will work on any device you share the same Microsoft account with, might be worth redeeming on store and then seeing if DVD works

For a 1 TB SSD and Windows 10, Installing MSFS on C drive (OS Partition) and all content on D drive (Another Partition) how much space do you recommend for C Drive and how much for D? (Assume plain Win 10 with no other softwares installed). Or to ask in another way, how much space is used by the installer on C drive and how much space is used in D Drive?
Make sure you have at least 100GB of space free. I don't know the installer size but 100GB is about the size when you fully install the sim. I would allow at least 120GB for addons, updates, etc. :)
@@CaptainAB went with a slightly used gaming pc anyways, and found out as long as you are registered with a microsoft account and, not steam account, its ready to download, even my marketplace purchases from xbox
I am wanting to Install on D: drive as well. I noticed you had Program files on your D: drive and some other files. My D: drive currently has no files. Will I need to add Program files? If so do I just copy and paste from the C: drive?
My program files are on my C drive, only official and community files on the D drive now, but if you want all on the D drive you edit that in MS Store or Steam.

Official folder holds the asobo airports, bush trips, world updates, etc. Community folder is simply the third party addons you install. I moved these folders to my desktop so my official and community folders (which have the majority of the sims content) are separate from the rest of the sim which is in the local appdata folder - makes it easier to install addons that way :)
I believe it will always install the app data folder into your C drive. The community and official folders will go to your D drive, which take up the most space.
I'm having space issues on my C: Drive caused by a file in the Program Data file called Package Cache which hogging up a whopping 100GB. My C: Drive is only 256GB SSD and it acts solely as my boot drive. How big of a folder will MSFS 2020 leave on the C: Drive if the bulk of the SIM is Insta!led on one of my other 1TB SSD?
@@dalebachman2892 All scenery, airports, addons, etc. will be located on your other SSD, which is the majority of the space needed. The sim is around 100GB so I'd say definitely more than 50% of that space would go on your SSD rather than your C drive. Regarding your Package Cache, check your rolling cache settings in the sim. Maybe you have 100GB set there.

@@dalebachman2892 I really don't mind about where you get the sim from because you're playing the same sim after all. I think last hotfix the update came out for MS Store users before Steam and as this is a Microsoft game I went with MS Store, but either of them do the job and I like how it's available on Steam so the game can reach more people.

(1GB I guess) So after clicked on the app. its give me to install a huge update on a new folder in my D: drive. Is this good installing or I need choose a folder manual not automaticlly? Because I don't need problems after installing. I'm now waiting installation done.

@@gadDenmark Ideally you should wait until 100%. If it stops for a while I recommend restarting your PC and uninstalling msfs then you can try the Microsoft store installation again.

Does exist a way to move the other folders too (WindowsApps, WpSystem and Program Files) into a MSFS 2020 custom folder?
Those folders will always need to remain in that directory as it’s a Microsoft game.

Maybe try reformatting your D drive to reset the space limits, other than that I’m not too sure unfortunately

6:22 why don't you have HLM package? are make a mistake in installation?
Did you also install yours in a custom directory? If you used the default path that might be why.
