    Great video-! Dr McDougall's Whole Foods starch/plant based way of eating saved my husband from getting a 3rd stent. Both of us began this way of eating in 2010. My husband lost 32 pounds and got off all Rx drugs for blood pressure & high cholesterol and pre-diabetes. In 3 months time his arteries cleared & his heart function became great- good strong blood flow to the heart as confirmed by his cardiologist's heart function tests. Mc Dougall is NOT to be compared to Atkins! Mc Dougall's message was simple: eat real whole food, as much as would satisfy, whenever you were hungry, cut out or limit the fatty foods, and eliminate the meat and dairy and oil. Essentially, do what your mama always told you: eat your fruits and veggies! There was one twist though: focus the majority of your food are satiating starches such as potatoes, grains, and beans and lentils.My hubby loved eating this way and was never hungry. The world death rate remains stable at 100% ! We are ALL going to die! McDougall died in his sleep at home - I assume. He was not in a nursing home. We should all be so lucky ! I have seen family members are friend die horrible deaths! "The Starch Solution" is wonderful. McDougall told people for free on his website how to eat. I bought all his books but I didn't need to- he put the information out there for free.
    Plant based doesn’t equate to living forever, it means living a better quality of life while alive. It doesn’t make you immune to genetic errors. To have a stroke at 18 he didn't have good genetics to start with, so in that context 77 is pretty good.
    He changed the way I look at food.
    In December 2012 I got tied up for 20 min on the phone with a registered nurse - this was a nurse that our health insurance
    [ Health Net ] provided to call and check how my late husband, -who was overweight & pre-diabetic in 2010 -was doing.
    very frustrating call. she kept trying to tell me starches are not good for
    people who are trying to reverse diabetes. I told her we did not eat refined starch or carbs that are refined or simple carbs like cornflakes or donuts. I said we eat whole unprocessed starches like oatmeal, beans, brown rice, corn and potatoes with no butter fat or cheese on the potatoes. she was supposed to be helping people with diabetes and yet she had never heard of dr john mc dougall or the starch based diet.
    i said dr john mc dougall is an internist who has written several books and been practicing medicine for over 30 years. he gets hundreds of diabetics off insulin & reverses heart disease with his starch based diet plan. And insulin resistance.
    I said we both follow an unrefined, unprocessed, high carbohydrate, lower fat, very high fiber, and plant based diet & we both have much better health. I said our diet is based on fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, “intact” whole grains, starchy vegetables, beans lentils and legumes. It is not only very healthy; it is also very effective for weight loss/management, diabetes and heart disease. It is low in calorie density so if you eat this way you can fill up without overeating and not worry about being hungry. In addition, it is very high in nutrient density, so you will be optimizing your nutrient intake at the same time.
    I didn’t need to worry about weight like my husband did so I was/am able to eat more nuts, bread, pasta and avocados than he did. I told her hubby lost 40 pounds, got his blood sugars controlled and had a 145 cholesterol and was off statin drugs and BP meds. She almost did not know what to say.
    so this is an example of how many medical people do not really understand what the healthiest diet for humans is.
    e scientific evidence we have… The studies and research is clear… a whole food plant based diet is the best for humans.

    Watching in Australia. I like starch, but don't feel well on it. Am doing Dr Brooke Goldner's protocol ! I will still watch you. Dr McDougall was a very good doctor and true gentleman. R.I.P. Dr McDougall.

      I don't feel good on rice, white Potatoes and 😅white flour product's. I think it's cause I'm diabetic type 2 and they raise my b. Sugar too high.... but if i eat quinoa, sweet potatoes, beans, and peas.... i feel a lot better.... and blood sugar comes down easier.

    Nah - I eat an only and all meat diet, probably 97% meat.
    When I cheat I eat chocolate :)

      Dr. McDougall hero was Nathan Pritikin a man with no MD or Ph.D and zero credentials in any health or medical field who wrecked his health. Would you get dental work done by someone with no credentials, no experience and no license in anything related to dentistry? Dr. Bessie Delany age 104, the second African American woman licensed to practice dentistry in New York State would never approve of a starch based diet since she saw first hand for decades what consuming a fad diet would do to wreck your health and teeth.
