People Abandoning FoodStamp Chargers And Challengers Over Insurance Rates 😳

- In today's video we talk about people abandoning their charger and challenger v6 editions due to massively increased insurance rates on the V8 model Thefts.
What does this mean for all the GT models they can't sell at the dealers? Let's discuss. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
If enough idiots buy a car and wreck them, your insurance company will surcharge that car if you buy it, regardless of your driving record and credit, location, etc....🧐🤯🤑💰🤔
Bought a '22 R/T a few months back and I had to take my deductible up to $1000 and it still took my premium up by $100 a month. I'm 53 years old with a good driving record and credit, it's pretty ridiculous.
Same at 51, I had a 2k deductible and was still 918 a month.. stupid
What state
Live in California, can confirm insurance has gone up for my v6 charger
So happy that my dream car i saved up, and worked my butt off for and got at the age of 22, 23 SXT AWD Plus Challenger, is deemed a "foodstamp car"
About time this was brought up ! My 2020 Challenger Scat Pack, SW FL, low crime rate small city, safe driver retiree, high credit score, drive less than 4K miles per year, garage kept, $1000 deductible, best lowest insurance rate through GEICO $246 per MONTH !
I had 2 V6 challengers in the past and loved them. I was looking for a new car and when I found out that the 3.6 doesn't have the Etorque on cars I got serious until my insurance agent told me what the rates would be. I ended up gettin gthe Chrysler 300 3.6, it's fast and not very thirsty at all.n nBut I notice they didn't update it much since my 2012 300 12 years go. No wonder it wasn't selling well!
Not gonna lie my V6 challenger just got totaled out an ex hated I’m leaning towards a mustang I’d rather have a 2021-2022 hemi though
My 23 scat charger is running $290 a month, that's 1k deductible. In perspective, almost got a mustang GT and that's at 250. For a 4 door it's ridiculous but obviously these cars are high targets for theft and stupid driving.
The V-6 Challenger is a GREAT car! If you do your homework, compare the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times to a 1971 Challenger 340 cubic inch, 275 HP. The V-6 is 220 cubic inches with 305 HP. They are almost IDENTICAL in many categories and it gets 30 MPG on a trip! The V-6 is no slouch by any stretch of the imagination. I'm an old Dragracer (York US 30, Maplegrove, South Mountain) from Pennsylvania and you are missing out on a really fun car to drive if you don't consider owning a V-6.
Yes, I own an ‘11 Challenger with the V6, and it’s been a TERRIFIC car. Two recalls from FCA in the past, but that’s it.
Yeah……I get somewhere in the upper 20’s MPG wise, and I cannot complain about that because the car is DEFINITELY no slouch…..considering it’s not a light car at all.
Insurance rates are IMO reasonable, but I’m 63 years old, so someone half my age will probably pay more, which is crazy.
Don’t get me started about insurance companies…..they’ve been a long standing pet peeve of mine for MANY years. 🤨
You do realize the underrated HP back in the day. For insurance and reg reasons. It's a known fact if they said say, 325 HP, it most likely was 375 or more. Plus the lower engine "budget" cars were essentially detuned from what they were capable of. So a modern charger V6 isn't really comparable to a 70 340 base model.
Did you ever race at Englishtown or Atco?
@@billjamison2877 I agree with you, I had a 72 340 challenger, a 74 cuda I put a stock 340 in no air conditioning and my 2022 challenger gt is by far a better car and just about as fast, and I am much more comfortable, I certainly don’t consider them to food stamp cars. Of course I am 72 but I love my challenger.
I sure would hope that smaller engines got better and produce more power efficiently over the last 50 years...
Insurance agent here. Whenever i see someone come in with a charger or challenger I just shake my head. From the v6 to the scar packs and hellcats it’s ridiculous. A few factors are at play here, 1 they have a theft issue. 2 most people who come it with these cars are usually 18-30 and already have shitty driving records. The only cars that come in higher are Kia/hyundai which we don’t offer comp coverage at all for anymore and Nissan altimas and maximas
But nobody is stealing the V6 like they are the Hemis. $500 a month for a fender bender is BS.
Seems like some specific coding going on...
Lies. Hyundai/Kia are not higher to insure than Dodge products.
"We don't even offer Comprehensive coverage on Kia/a Hyundai."
Sure😂
What's up with the Kia / Hyundai stuff?
Chargers are mostly bought by 50 yo Gen Xers.
The state needs to step in and correct this issue!
Not here in Ohio. But zip code plays a huge factor
can confirm my v6 awd challenger is expensive to insure even with a great driving record. mine is a 2020 gt. when i first got it in 2021 my insurance was $207 a month now they want $310 (co-operators) i live in an area in ontario where there isnt much auto theft if at all its disgusting honestly.
Same with Camaro. I was getting insurance quotes to upgrade from my 2017 2LT RS to a 2023 2SS 1LE. The insurance difference was 100ish bucks every 6 months (500 to 610). This was last August.
They told me, “a Camaro is still a Camaro sports car”.
NE Florida.
every police chase I see involve chargers, challengers, and dreads
Dreads is the common denominator there.
The V6 engines still sport over 300hp so that may contribute performance wise
My 98 5 speed manual Nissan Sentra is like 400 bucks to insure every 6 months....and that is with a history of being in a police chase in my early 20s....I am currently in my late 20s.
The V6 Charger SXT is not a "food stamp" car, it WAS an entry level near luxury car starting at $35k. All insurance has skyrocketed in the past 3 years especially for drivers with bad records or in zip codes identified with high insurance claims. My 2022 RT costs the same to insure as my 2016 Chrysler T&C and neither are extraordinarily expensive to insure.
insurance varies from state to state, I live in GA. Their excuse for insurance being high here is blaming other drivers and that everyone has to pay for it. It's total bullshit, people shouldnt have to pay because other people drive like morons.
Glad I never got one of these. Yes I was looking at a v6 challenger for only one reason, it would be my only car and I live in the snow belt. I can get it in AWD. Glad I decided to just keep my old pickup.
Why are you calling them food stamp Charger, TK?
Cheap af
@@mot1343 he said in the beginning those are the base model. Cheaply made.
Because they’re base model, did you not watch the video?
in Australia we call foodstamp items, cars whatever povo packs( poverty pack)
Good onya...
my wife has a gt and i havent notice insurance increase yet
I went to the local dealership here in WV about a month ago to get my wife a V6 awd Challenger. Everything was fine until I called my insurance company for a quote. $300/month, that's 3 times what we're paying for her current car for the same coverage. Needless to say, we decided to keep the old car which is paid off. These rates are crazy!
I was paying 140 a month on a 2017 challenger GT 1000 deductible on both comp and collision 65 years old ,clean record in NC.I bought a 2024 Ecoboost mustang and im paying 166 a month same coverage
Even more mundane models and engine vehicles have see huge increases in their insurance premiums - like 30% or more in the last year, due to overall inflation, massive increases in parts and labor for body repairs, parts and repair delays so customers with vehicles needing rentals for months on end adding to the claims amounts.
I CHECKED QUOTES FOR A TRX INSURANCE COMPARED TO MY RT AND MY INSURANCE WOULD GO DOWN $150 A MONTH LMFAO
Yah, I was pleasantly surprised when I insured my 2023 TRX, basically same price as the 2019 Power Wagon I traded in..
Shitcanthis 😂😂😂
Vegas has always been bad when I lived there in early 90s was triple of what I paid in Indiana
One of my coworkers had to sell her V6 Challenger that she loved because of this.
Not to mention 80 percent of takeovers are with the challenger and charger. Including police pursuits. All of this factored in, it's no wonder why they have.
I got a specialty company to cover my '22 Scat.
$50k agreed value is $800 per year with low usage.
...
If you're a responsible adult, it pays to shop around.
"Food stamp"?. Insecure v8 people must not know how manufacturing works. You'd always need the volume model for your precious v8s to be affordably made ...
The cars are ego trips. All of them. They serve no other purpose.
386 a month for my 1320 and that's USAA insuring me. I earned every bit of that high ass rates. Also, the v6 drivers are on an all time high for delusional. See so many of them trying to run from the cops and failing miserably
What’s a 1320?
Like the Arkansas State Police, with their Scat Pack Chargers. Not a good idea, to run from them.
I had a 2020 RT Charger rt plus. Great car. Insurance went crazy here in Texas about 6 months ago. I traded out of that car into a 2021 Camaro LT1. You know the 455hp car. My insurance dropped 175 bucks a month. I’m still in shock.
Food stamp, chargers, and challengers are just like Nissan Altima and base model Honda Accord. The stereotype is real and exist for a reason. No need to apologize. The truth usually offends people who are most affected by it and essentially just proves your point.
Yup I was thinking of trading in my truck for a charger rt or scatpack because of the discounts but that insurance rate would have raised it by almost 60 more dollars a month haha.
The best is when insurance companies say how much they made in profit but still raise your rates...I was told by my insurance company that it based off of stock market...which means they are using your money as an investment ....I wonder what would happen if everyone across the United States sued for gouging the American people.....yes I understand crashes, theft and any catastrophic event....but if it's the same across the board through different states at the lowest amount then it would equal out just like everything else....the point is greed because if they are paying out then there executives and ceo don't make big salaries 😮
Just bought a 2023 R/T Challenger. Insurance is 290.00 a month 1000 dollar deductible, freaking ridiculous
That’s ridiculous they Insurance rates on the food stamp charger and challenger that’s crazy😂🤣🤣
Looks like a mistake; $600 every 6 months is $100 a month. Not a terrible monthly premium.
Location, location, location. If you reside in a locale with high percentages of uninsured motorists, you will pay more. I noticed this many years ago when I moved from Texas to Missouri. My auto policy premium was cut in half. Many other factors as well but I think that's the biggie.
My little cousin has one and she loves 2016 sxt an she’s only had a drive shaft issue with it and a few interior cosmetic issues other than that she loves it 😊
I drove a v6 charger on a test drive and was way disappointed it was more like a floaty slow town car or something they are a big ass sedan. It wasn't muscle car like at all.
When I went from a Scat to a Hellcat the difference was about $65 a year. I was so happy!! However, I was already paying up the nose for the Scat. If fools would stop putting these cars in rap videos our premiums might come down!
@@luv4hemi262 lol u sound salty if u really can’t afford it no reason to hate lol u mention rap videos 😂😂😂 u unnatural creatures who burn in nature are funny
It’s not just theft. It’s losses due to collisions. If you have a bunch of knuckleheads driving a certain car, this is the result. Subaru WRX is the same way.
Im about to buy a new 2024 mustang gt with performance package etc (50k) and i checked my insurance rate and its only $188. I was extremely surprised but i do have an immaculate driving record and im 30.
Im 56 no ticket good driving record my 21 Scat Pack T/A rates went up $100/mo...and Jake will not not tell me what I would recover in a total loss.
Competing insurance girl beat Jake by $100/mo
I'm paying less than $300 for a scat and liability for a 15 Silverado and home owners insurance
I got a 7 year old 4 cyl dodge journey as a daily and insurance was almost $300 in Louisiana. I had to go and up my deductible and take a bunch of misc charges off with All state.
Damn and I thought I had it bad with a 94 f150 4x4. 100 a month for liability, no tickets, clean record. Northeast La.
My '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee, is $65/month, here in East Central Louisiana.
My 21 R/T jumped 240$ a year from last year.
I have a v6 challenger this year my insurance has gone up 10 dollars a month since first of year .an thing is I haven't had a ticket are accident since the 1970s so I'm fixing probably have to let it go
Not to mention you hit a guard rail in a EV and you will stop but those heavy ass batteries wont they will slip right under thar guard rail and leave the rest of the car and you behind..
I had a 2023 stx charger.full coverage in alabama with a step above basic coverage it was 180.00 a month.male, 50 with clean driving record.my 23 ram hemi is 150.00.my cousins 23 wide body scat charger she says is 180.00.
I am offended by that term. I equate "food stamps" with government assistance (welfare) which is paid for by taxpayers, including me. I am also a huge fan of base model cars and trucks, including V8 models. Not that long ago you could get a base model car/truck with a V8 engine. Before I retired, my government job work truck was a 2002 Ford F-250 base model chassis cab with a utility bed on it, and a V-10 engine. As far as insurance goes, I have a base model 2003 Mustang with a 3.8L V6 engine that I bought in beautiful condition, with 97,000 miles on it, for $4200. Its only options are an automatic transmission, and a rear spoiler. I did not want the spoiler, but I can't remove it, it would leave holes in the trunk lid. The one really cool thing about this car is the color. Zinc Yellow. It's the brightest yellow you can imagine. Sort of a lemon yellow. And it really stands out is a sea of black, white, and gray vehicles. I bought this car because I wanted a reasonably inexpensive TWO DOOR rear wheel drive American car with a solid rear axle. It quickly became apparent that a 1999-2004 V6 Mustang was my only option (the 2005 and up V6 Mustang has some fairly serious engine problems) For some reason, V6 Mustangs depreciate like crazy, which is great for used buyers. They are still great cars. I bought it for a daily driver. I have it, two Mercury Grand Marquis, and my house insured by the same company. The insurance on all the cars, including the Mustang, is ridiculously cheap. The Mustang is $187 for 6 months. The reason for that is because I have liability insurance only. They don't care if it gets stolen, it won't cost them anything. And I'd only be out at most $4200. I bought this car 5 years ago, and have had 5 years of trouble free use out of it, so really, it has already paid for itself. Stay away from expensive financed cars, and you won't have problems with insurance.
My 2022 RT had a lower MSRP than my wife's 2023 GT.
I've owned four Chrysler vehicles. All four top of the line trim levels... Never again! Nothing but transmission problems and oil usage problems to the point that every time I drove away from a light I chocked the drivers behind me in a cloud of blue smoke.. On my Spirit Sport while still under warranty the dealer actually told me they didn't know how to fix my transmission and were waiting for a new replacement! I'm not even counting the numerous power window actuators that needed to replaced.
I replaced one power window actuator on my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, and that was after 18 years and 387,000 miles. The one that failed was original. Still had the rivets in it. Original engine and transmission are still doing just fine.
Are you seriously making your 2024 car purchasing decision based on a 1990 Dodge Spirit?
So what are the best states that will cover cars in California?
Me personally, i won't get a muscle car wit a v6, but dats me😂meaning mustangs camaro's & challenger/ charger, datz buying a muscle car without da muscle 😂
I've got a 2019 charger SXT with progressive. My insurance went from $150 to $250 every month
Why you it gotta be food stamp car don’t talk about my v6
I’d rather have a Lexus ES350 or a Toyota Avalon at that point. I love my 2015 Toyota Camry which is a reliable food stamp car.
Let's not forget states that base their license plate tax on the vehicle's MSRP. Kentucky and Indiana are two, I'm sure there are more. License plate fees could easily be $2000 or $3000 for several years when these things are new. (My 2001 Saturn is based on an original MSRP of about $13,755 and I pay among the lowest amount of anyone in Indiana.)
I don't even know how little I'm paying for the plates on my 1981 Honda 400cc motorcycle. FAR less than a new Indian or Harley-Davidson, you can be sure of that.
Just live them like i did full coverge in texas 265. For my hemi and my wifes v6 changer.
Are they really called food stamp chargers?😂
What age group are you talking
I work outside.....
i dont see this happening man srry....there EVERYWHERE here in my city in Canada Saskatchewan.literally outnumber v8's 3 to 1....its the east Indians here that buy them up FAST because they dont care about the performance all they want is the show and AWD....
As soon as my work get s one in its sold within a few hrs....
Hi tk i live in sun city summerlin i would like to meet you for coffee and talk cars

It hot out west my
I would never buy a v6 challenger or charger
Sorry chargers and challengers are junk ,lucky if they last term of loan without giving you grief
Did you obtain this information from uncle Cletus who got a 2005 Dodge Charger with 200k miles from Bubba's Used car sales?
