  • I went for a hike alone to discover the rainforest (in my sandals and socks) in Cameron Highlands. I discovered so many interesting plants and it was so much fun, but then it suddenly started to rain. I almost got lost but luckily I found my way out eventually! Then I continuted on a hike through the beautiful tea plantationsin the area..

Just correction... Chinese ethnic here we use the term "Malaysian Chinese" and not Malay Chinese. Similarly you do not refer to Indian in Malaysia as "Malay Indian" you would refer them as "Malaysian Indian". This is because there is another ethnic in Malaysia called Malay... They are predominantly Muslim and original is from South East Asia region. So when you uses " Malay Chinese " people around this region or familiar with Malaysia would think you are referring to Malay and Chinese race.

Never go hiking alone. You should consult the locals first before entering any jungle in Malaysia. Usually you need to register with the villages or the natives. If you get lost, they have to pull their resource for your rescue. Even in China, you are expected to leave your name with the village head before you enter any jungle. There are tigers in West Malaysia jungle. It is safer in Sarawak jungle because there are no tigers and also no elephants.

The unsuitability of your footwear has been commented on, but you're not alone. Many Malaysians also often go on hikes in flip flops! But, a good pair of walking or hiking boots (waterproof if possible) are recommended if you go into the jungle. In some places, you wil also encounter leeches and stockings are good. Other safety aids such as whistle, torchlight, and even GPS (or phone) can help you to keep safe.

If you love hiking... you need to bring along a handheld gps with more than enough bateries. Garmin oregon 750 ia a good recommendation.
You just need to activate tracking and when you want to track back... just activate the tracking back command... but you need to get a good clearing to get connection with the satellites....

Beautiful drone footage of the tea plantation. Please never again go into a jungle alone. That’s really dangerous. ❤
