    Thank you for this! Local hobby shop was trying to sell me several hundred dollars worth of equipment to do the same thing. Crashed my new heli twice yesterday and have required new parts including a main rotor shaft, but I felt like it would return to nearly out of the box condition with the new rotor shaft and tail boom, but there's still a slight imbalance. This is basically back to out of the box condition so it needs a little bit of rotor balancing and I think I'll be perfect. Point being, it needed the blades balanced Straight Out of the Box

    This is the best method to balance the blades. Bonus you’ve probably got all the bits at home already except the scales.

    The blades should both be 26.13 you added too much tape, and how did the CG shift from too tip heavy to too base heavy. I think you did a switcharoo somewhere. That being said, you did balance them. I always balance my blades and use a similar technique

    Hey I have a blade 300x. I’m new to the game it has almost everything upgraded to carbon fiber (the blades, the tail rod, and back blade). I don’t really know anything about it but when I touch the throttle at all, the whole helicopter starts to shake violently, to the point it will fall over. I removed the blades and it doesn’t shake at all with them off. Any suggestions?

    • @RCnerd74
      @RCnerd74  Před 3 lety

      You should check if they are balanced or not. Another point is how hard you tighten the screws to mount the blades on the blade holders. They still need to move free. Just tighten until they have no more play. If you tighten them too much, they cannot move to the right position when you spin up the rotors. This can cause massive vibrations. Same for main and tail rotor.

    How do you ensure the tape fitted stays on

    • @RCnerd74
      @RCnerd74  Před 10 měsíci

      Just wrap it around the leading edge of the blade. And don't use crap tape. 3M crystal tape works perfect.

  • @edgarmelendrez7306

    Where did you put the tape on the heaviest blade????

    • @RCnerd74
      @RCnerd74  Před 4 lety

      At the position where you need it to get the exact same CG as on the lighter blade.

  • @MrRegE69

    Excellent idea and method! I can't imagine how one would get more perfectly balanced blades. Where did you get the foam? I've been searching for dense foam like that, to no avail. In lieu of foam, I got the ingenious idea to simply bend the ruler into a 90 degree angle; however, it snapped in half. •lol•

    • @RCnerd74
      @RCnerd74  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks😃 The foam Is just some packing material of electronic components. Didn't need to search and buy it. Just collect all kinds of foam you get with the stuff you buy. This is helpful often.

    In this case just put more at cg.

  • @herminigildojakosalem8664

    Simple? Nah, way too complicated. A felt tipped marker will eliminate the ruler and "marker" tapes.,I am right now too lazy to type in the method here. It is not mine, it is Finless Bob's. You can look it up. Hint: Just as in the video above you'll need the weighing scale and a way to determine the CG of both heli blades

    • @RCnerd74
      @RCnerd74  Před 6 lety

      Herminigildo Jakosalem thanks for your feedback. How do you make sure that both blades have the exact same weight without using a scale? If they do not have the exact same weight you will never have them perfectely balanced ... a simple prop balancer cannot replace the scale...

    • @herminigildojakosalem8664
      @herminigildojakosalem8664 Před 6 lety

      If you will just please read my comment again you might get to understand it. Hint: I didn't say you could do away with the weighing scale. And if done properly, I have proven that Finless Bob's method of balancing blades has no need for a prop balancer. Your method has just too many points for errors to creep in. If I were a complete newbie and if by chance your video were the only one I saw on blade balancing, I would be disheartened and would give up on the hobby. Anyhow I must admit your good intentions are certainly there in posting the above video. My comment is well, just that----a comment. Thank you.

    • @RCnerd74
      @RCnerd74  Před 6 lety

      I just checked Finless Bob's channel. couldn't find a video about his method. should be this channel: czcams.com/users/finlessvideos Does there exist a video or a thread in a forum which explains Finless Bob's method? If not, it is difficult to learn his simple method for all the heli pilots out there... thanks for your support...

    • @herminigildojakosalem8664
      @herminigildojakosalem8664 Před 6 lety

      I have it on my PC as a video file because I downloaded it years ago way back when I was just starting in this hobby. I watched it again after your first reply to my comment and you know what? I was wrong on citing that it was his method that I was talking about because in Finless Bob's video on blade balancing, he didn't even use a weighing scale, He only used a blade/prop balancer. You may watch it here: czcams.com/video/s7YoWYKDWlI/video.html. Thank you.

      Thanks for the link. That is a really simple way. Less tools needed. In the video he is a bit unaccurate with finding and marking the CG. But this can be done more precise by everyone who wants to try this solution. Thanks again...
