  • The first game was one of the most exciting of the entire season. Would the second game live up to the hype? It sure would, with an entertaining high scoring affair.

This, for my money, was the best game of the tournament. After that incredible first game in Bloomington, the stakes were even higher - UK out for revenge, IU out to repeat. And the play on both sides was incredible - IU played probably as well as we could have, and we STILL lost by 12.
UK got their toughest test of the tourney - and came through with a performance that would beat lesser NBA teams on a given night. Damned impressive - and I'm a Hoosier fan.

@@hobsonschoice8649 , Go back and look at the replay of the game earlier in the season in December, 2011 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, and Kentucky had one of, if not the poorest offensive performance they'd had all season. They weren't making outside shots, they weren't making free throws, they fell behind Indiana by 10 points late in the 2nd-half, and with all that it still took Watford hitting a "hail Mary, full of grace, the lord is with thee" 25 or 30 footer at the buzzer to beat the Cats that night. Unfortunately for Indiana, they ran into a much more accurate reflection of how good this Kentucky team really was here in the Sweet Sixteen in "Catlanta".

This is proof of why the IU/UK series needs to continue, and why it's such a shame Cal turned down Crean - that deal (2 games at Lucas Oil Stad., one at Rupp, one at the Hall) was a great compromise. Both sides got what they wanted.
Why he turned it down I still can't say. I won't be one of the IU fans who says "he's scared of us", because what's there to be scared of? He won a national championship. He has Rupp Arena as his homecourt. He's on top of the world. A shame he won't make it happen.

actually, it's 2 in 20 and 3" in over 20" (21). the 1993 team lost to kansas in the elite 8. the 2002 team lost to Maryland in the championship.

A meaningless win? I'm not an Indiana fan,but come on now. Kentucky got the last laugh when it matter the most. But that shot will go down as one of the greatest in regular season history .For two reason: one Kentucky should have been an undefeated team. It's crazy how well this team flowed together the chemistry was so great. The Second and most important it made Indiana basketball relevant again. This win brought confidence in Indiana basketball after Kelvin Sampson killed the program.

It's sad that IU fans are obessed with that shot. Especially after we beat you in Sweet Sixteen.

True Last year's UK team was a rare and one of a kind team that had a great combination of athleticism and fundamental for a calipari team. And that's what it's takes in today's baskeball. But Knight would ruin last year's UK team. With Knight either you fit his program or you sit the bench.Calipari finds a way to make the program fit the players and last year it just happen to fit perfectly. This year their struggling but could make a run in tourney.

this game makes me even more mad about cal ruining this rivalry just so he could avoid a possible loss at rupp. cal is scheming to get records, and will do it by any means. that includes keeping the longest home winning streak by not playing anyone at home.

Trust me i think UK is a great program to the only thing that bothers me is there coach Calipari. Im just not a Calipari fan, but hey i hope Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist both do great in the NBA. It just kills me to watch the UK and IU rivalry end just because they cant decide where to play.

Great team. Davis was obviously the best player, but miller was the most important guy all yr. when u needed a bucket, he gave u one. anytime they got stagnant on offense miller carried them.

Only team that has ever built a shrine for a Sweet 16 team too. Hell, they would have built the shrine if they had lost in the first round.

That was a great, high-scoring game, but I really felt like poor officiating had a lot to do with that. I know I'm going to catch flack from Indiana fans because of the free throw discrepancy, but Kentucky has been on the short end of that stick many times before, too...It's just part of the game.

This shows how good this Cat team was. Indiana had two players with career games, shot over 50%, scored 90+ points, and still lost by 12. + was never in the game 4 real!!!! lmao Go Big Blue!!! Shout out to the Louisville Cards as well. We represent what that orange is about in the Ky! Whatever anybody else aspires to be in bball Ky is already that!

Indiana brought their A game here (They shot well and hit their free throws) but Kentucky was just that much better and to their credit they missed only 2 free throws.

Besides, he probably doesn't even know, or is in denial, that it's 32-24 UK over IU all-time, and 3-1 UK in the tournament.
