Their biggest problem was their midfield. They neglected their midfield.Their champions league final midfield was peredes, herrera and Marquinhos. If they had a good midfield they would have won at least one champs league.

In Mbappe's defense, he was pressured into signing a contract extension with PSG in 2022. Al Khelaifi used his connections to get Macron to personally ask him to stay at the club. When your country's president asks you to do something, you can't easily ignore his request.

I think it’s very clear and obvious for many football fans that the PSG project was more about marketing than football. From a marketing perspective, that’s where they did a great job, when you have big names and you were collaborating with the Jordan brand that was a big thing particularly for a football club, but this was never going to translate into success from a footballing perspective which is why nobody should be surprised that despite spending over 2.5 billion on players, they couldn’t win the UCL. Keep in mind that they had big names like: Lionel Messi Neymar Kylian Mbappe Zlatan Ibrahimovic Edinson Cavani Angel Di Maria Thiago Silva Marco Verratti Gianluigi Donnarumma Achraf Hakimi Sergio Ramos etc. not to mention that they had some elite managers as well during this project like Carlo Ancelotti Unai Emery Thomas Tuchel and yet still couldn’t win the champions league.
There was never any question marks surrounding their success in Ligue 1, I mean domestically they’re the best team in France and a level above everyone else financially and they were always going to win the league almost every year (apart from 2017 and 2021 against Monaco and Lille), but the only thing that they were judged off of was the champions league. PSG didn’t have a rich vein of history in Europe and the owners wanted to go after all of these superstars and instead of creating a balanced team where they could focus on developing players and give the youth a chance, they created an environment where the players that they were signing were mercenaries who prioritized money over football and it wasn’t a coincidence that it was the same story for them every season in the champions league where it’s a bunch of individuals who didn’t have a winning DNA or desire in these big games. Since they play in a less competitive league, they didn’t put as much effort as you would expect from them and it wasn’t a coincidence that every time they played a top team they would get destroyed. Look at the crumble that they had against Barcelona in 2017, these guys were up by 4 goals after the first leg, yet they still got eliminated and they also blew 2 goal leads against Manchester United and Real Madrid in 2019 and 2022. Even if you have some of the best players in the world without any sort of cohesion leadership or teamwork, no team is ever winning the UCL like this. People think that PSG getting to the champions league final in 2020 was a significant achievement as that was the farthest that they’ve ever reached in this competition, but that was a fluke run during COVID where they had no fans played in empty stadiums and didn’t have any 2nd legs and more importantly, they didn’t even play a good team until the final where they ended up losing to Bayern Munich.

    • @YoungSimbaFootball
      @YoungSimbaFootball  Před měsícem +4

100% agree especially about the 2020 final, Bayern was their only real test they were expected to beat Dortmund Atalanta and Leipzig, but when it came down to face Bayern they were never going to win it. When you spend this much over a 13 year span one UCL final is so poor to show for it. Plus they turned Ligue 1 into the most one sided league too

And the fact over the last decade they focused on Superstars signings rather to do a proper project and giving the youth a chance like Kingsley Coman and Mike Maignan for example

Midfielders to get the ball to them. If you look at the likes of barcelona and manchester city. Barcelona uses a strong youth system where the players learn how to play With each other for years and years and thus when they go to the senior team They integrate well. Similarly manchester city focuses on long term investments. Buying players young together and Getting them to slowly integrate Uber time. Also , manchester city has had for many years so that he can integrate his tactics into the team over time , but the fact that we sell a manager after two years doesn't get them the right time to integrate their tactics.

In my opinion, PSG going for younger talent right now isn’t a choice, but something they’ve been forced to do now due to how public the way they’ve treated their legends is. They might have the money but they no longer have the influence to attract big names - which is why behind the scenes they promise millionaire contracts and important roles in “new projects” (they have a new project every damn year).
Whether you like him or not, Mbappé is an idol to many and seeing a club mistreat him is going to stay on people’s minds for a long time, and I don’t even think that story is over and there’s definitely more to come out of that. Same thing with Messi and Neymar. Real Madrid knew better, they made a god out of Cristiano and although their relationship could’ve ended better, both sides minded their business. In return, till this day there’s kids joining Real Madrid because of their idol, Cristiano.
PSG doesn’t know how to create “gods”. They sign them, promise them the world - but they promise the same thing to every player and that’s how their relationships end up souring. They did it with Cavani, Neymar, Mbappé, etc.

So many supporters were worrying about the club: the team construction, the lack of quality in midfield, the disregard towards the academy….
But in the meantime star players, the president and people around them only cared about money, power and influence.
They used bots and sometimes actual Twitter accounts to spread misinformation and bad propaganda to make the other’s worse.
That’s why lately people doubt about the president more than ever. That’s why fans didn’t care when Messi, Neymar and Mbappé left.

Overall I'm sure that the artificial worth of PSG being 4,5bn doesn't make up for the accumulated yearly financial losses since Nasser bought the club. In the books, it might not look so bad, but everyone knows that shady sponsorships around PSG are only a way for Nasser to circumvent financial fairplay and pump unreasonable amounts of money into the club in order to fail reaching quarterfinals of the CL every year.

I am still a PSG fan.... But we dont have a problem at the club, we have PROBLEMS.
    1. The management is too fragile. They want quick results rather than following the process
    2. The Club values its players more than itself (unlike clubs like Madrid). The players are basically just employees playing to get their wages. No shit why Messi didn't play like he used to play at Barca or argentina.
    3. The BIGGEST reason are the ULTRAs. These guys really get on the nerves of the club. They think they do constructive criticism, but in reality they just disrespect the players who are just having a bad season.
Neither Messi, Neymar and even Kylian have left saying something good about the club.
The management needs to understand that only money cant build a club

The past two years spending shows that they are really changing their way. However, I say It could be even better without Mbappé even though I am a huge fan of him. But just like with Neymar everything was built around Mbappé in the end. When he was missing from a couple of games , those games were spectacurarly worse. If they let work the two Luis ( Enrique and Campos) they could achive something big. Nasser best be keeping himself behind the walls, signing checks and sometimes open his whisky flask....that's it.

I mean, PSG are not doing great, but FC Barcelona is a club in ruins that hasn't won anything worthwhile ever since Messi left, and keeps trying to make commercial signings and throwing money away as the club becomes poorer and poorer; hardly an example to follow.

Because the players don’t care, as long as the checks keep coming in, they will just keep chilling out. Once the owner stops playing manager going and buying players and letting his staff do their job they might stand a chance at winning something other than the farmers league.

They have the wrong transfer strategy. Buying players at 30 years or over is risky and won’t work every time. They’re going after big stars in other teams when cheap young super-talented french players leave France teams and win the Champions Leagues for Real Madrid. They’re lots of emerging young superstars in French league literally every year. Imagine if they pipped other teams to Camavinga and Touchumeni, Mendy, Olises and many others.

It's a type of player that PSG and Nasser are usually interested in. The whole body of a PSG team usually consists of tattooed partygoers. You must have tatted arms to even make the cut for a transfer. You never see any strongmen British, or even strong Portuguese or Spanish players like Rodri, Dias, VVD, Stones etc.

Let's assume after PSG got their first UCL title, the people who always brag about rich club never get an UCL title will finally disappeared from the lane 😂
