my friends brother died not to long ago. we weren’t close, really at all. i talked to him every once in a while, but not often. i remember when my sister came downstairs to tell us the news. i just laughed and said “you’re joking, right?” and at the time, no one really knew. turns out, he did die. my day was ruined. my life. i just don’t understand how someone so good can just be left like that. it’s so unfair. he had so much left in him. but he’s in a better place now. he’s in heaven. he’s now eternally happy. he’s returned to his home. rest in peace. i will never forget you.
I love this song so much. I grew up as a foster kid and for a lot of my childhood I felt like I didn't have a real "home". When I was 11 however I met the most amazing set of parents who soon adopted me after only meeting me twice. They had a 6 year old daughter and 18 month old triplet boys and my new mom was also pregnant again at the time of my adoption. I went from being a lonely foster kid to being a permanent big sister. I was going through a really rough time, and I had no idea how to deal with it, especially since I dealt with it at 13 since I was 12. The trouble DEFINITELY dragged me down, and no doubt I got lost in the depths of depression and suicidal thoughts, but I wasn't alone, I had my friends there for me, and I was eventually found. Since I went through that, I appreciate life so much more, and I just need to remember that I'll never truly be alone.

this song came out when I was in fourth grade, and I remember that the first time I heard it was after Hurricane Sandy. I live in New Jersey, so hurricanes were nothing new to me... but I was out of school for two and a half weeks because the damage was so bad. It was mid-October and since my family doesn't have a generator we were freezing cold every day, we didn't have electricity (obviously) and we couldn't even step outside the house because the roads were covered in fences and gates and furniture. Our only source of knowing what was going on outside was this really old radio that my dad had fixed up, and the radio was turned on 24/7. This song came on, and I instantly fell in love. It brings back a lot of bad memories, such as being freezing and worrying about my parents making it to and from work safe, but it also brings back some of the best times of my life, like how my sister and I had a two week long monopoly game because we had nothing better to do, or how my whole family would sleep in the same room together just so that we would all feel safe. Long story short (even tho I just told a really long story) what this song reminds me of is that there are positives in every negative situation that you are ever in, there are always good memories hidden with the bad ones. Always.

So I'm from Portugal but i moved to California when i was 2 years old. I played football (soccer) at my high school and i was the only Portuguese member of the team. I loved my high school but when i was 15 my parents told me we had to move back to portugal. In my final soccer game in the US they introduced me last (being the teams highest scorer) and i ended up scoring a hat trick scoreing 15 minutes in, 39 minutes in and 2 minutes into extra time. They had this song playing at the end of the game and in the locker room. I was filled with emotions that night knowing i left 2 weeks after that. I still live in portugal but i plan on moving back in the future.
At my old school, we performed this for our first graduates (it was a fairly new school, and we finally made it to having up to 8th grade) and everyone almost cried while singing. We we're like family, and it was painful to watch everyone leave. I wish I could see everyone again. Miss you LOTWA!!

In April, he went to heaven and is eternally safe from cancer. This was his song, and I think that without it, I would probably be a mean jerk. This song tells me every time I hear it to go and be something special. I learned that it it is impossible to be famous without a reason, and you can't be liked unless you are nice. This song reminds me of my biggest hero ever. He was a 2 time cancer champion and relapsed in October 2012. In February, they found too many tumors in his lungs and there was nothing left to do. In April, he went to heaven and is eternally safe from cancer. This was his song, and I think that without it, I would probably be a mean jerk. This song tells me every time I hear it to go and be something special. I learned that it it is impossible to be famous without a reason, and you can't be liked unless you are nice. I hope this message helps the people who need it :)
