What Gareth has done for the England players off the pitch cannot be under played. He’s created an environment in which these very talented players feel like they can just focus on performing

Under Southgate England have come a long way. Yes there's been a lot of mistakes made at crucial times in crucial matches but hopefully lessons are learnt by the manager as well as the players. England desperately need that big win now, I think the players deserve it and especially the fans deserve it.
I think a lot of nations will be feeling the same but only one can win. I think teams like Italy, despite their recent unsuccessful period have the heritage and mentality to come back and win again before England. That’s the harsh reality and always has been
I don't understand why people complain Southgate out he's the reason the sqaud can all unite and come together plus he's the reason the fans are watching England again. We had a golden generation with Beckham Gerrard lampard etc and massively underachieved. People say we need a proper manager to win the sqaud something Capello worked for real Madrid and managed won of the best England sqauds didn't even reach a final or semi final
I don't get it either, Southgate is doing a bloody good job. I'm 57 and as far as I'm concerned he's the most successful manager we've had since Sir Alf Ramsey, which makes him the best since I was about 3 months old! I say leave the man alone..!
Some England fans think we should be waltzing to victory at every tournament! It's actually quite difficult!

Gareth Southgate has taken England to a World cup semi, nations league semi, Euro final and a defeat in a World cup quarter against a France team we could have beaten. Even the most blinkered fan would have been happy with that after our Euro 2016 shocker. I just don't get all the criticism he gets. He has transformed England into a serious competition winner candidate. We beat Italy convincingly. We don't fear Germany. Our only serious worry is France and on our day we could beat them or anyone. Get behind Gareth instead of this constant negativity.

Why are we Favourites? France have a stronger squad... Spain and Portugal would probably beat us.. I'd say.. we are ONE of the favourites, not THE Favourite
I'd argue that England would beat Spain and Portugal just based off their lack of counter-attacking game. England like to control possession and when they lose against good teams these days, its due to the counter like at the world cup against france which had some other factors involved but the counterattacks really helped them. I agree though that if anyone are THE favourites, its France.

@@CMJamesSpain and Portugal play like a group of strangers. England have slightly weaker squads probably in the defence, but play like a unit and have good culture around the team. On their day England can beat anyone. People just love to hate for no reason
