What Are Fly Boots for Horses and Why We Put Them On

I've had horses for 18 years and never put fly boots on them until 3 or 4 years ago. I just never thought there was a need for it, until I asked my farrier about why people put them on. She explained that putting fly boots on them kept them from stomping their legs so much to get the flies off. She said that stomping takes a toll on their hooves, legs, bones, etc. So, from that moment on, come fly season, on go the fly boots.
For some cuteness to see, around the 2 minute 19 second mark of the video, you can get a giggle watching Smokey scratching his back on a tree behind me. So cute, he's such a mess, lol.

Here's a link to some fly boots from Harrison Howard. I haven't tried them yet but they're similar to the ones from Chicks. I will probably buy some next year.
