I don't know what I like better: The INCREDIBLE vibe of this piece, or the look of TOTAL JOY on Guthrie's face as he throws down! Thanks, yet again, HandEyeFamilyMusic, for another great year at the Eddie Lang Jazz Festival!
Does anyone think Seth Govan is waaaay underrated? Wish there was some more info on the guy, he is an incredible bass player! Last time i met Guthrie he told me that his brother was currently not recording as much as teaching. Does anyone by chance know where?
My friend told me he taught him how to play. He's probably still living in Chelmsford. I will ask my friend when I see him next but not sure when with Covid.
Look for interviews, there’s no shortage of him saying exactly that. He approaches it as a language, learning what he wants to express and what touches him, and then understands what makes it work, or at least how to explain it. When playing, same logic. When talking, you put what you’re currently feeling into words. With music, same thing
i pretty sure u created this account when where young, or younger :) it's normal ! But now, u are listening to the best music in the worl bro' FUUUUUSIIIIOOON :D And Guthrie ! xD
I think he's obsessed with people like john scofield so he likes a presence boost and woody tone, it's not for everyone. But it does cut through the mix
I know if I'd paid good money to get into a festival and this was on, I'd be happy with where my money was going... Also, doesn't sound that "rock" to me, bar the fact that there is a distorted guitar.
Where does Guthrie get the nerve,,, ' coming to earth and just show off all over the place. What's does he really look like under that G suit. Steve Vai tries to make you think he's other worldly. Guthrie don't say shit, just blows your fucking mind for ya' like no other:' then will have a cheary o conversation . Very humble his species are. Nice people......
What's this doing at a jazz festival??? I mean common, Guthrie's soloing is straight up rock with a hint of jazz and blues. They should be playing at a different concert. I know if I paid good money to go to a jazz concert, I'd be expecting to see a jazz or at least a jazz fusion performance - not any of this guitar rock stuff.
Rock will never be played under that groove.John Mclaughlin,John Scofield and Mike Stern also playing stuff like that. Then how could Guthrie's stuff is just rock with a hint of jazz&blues? Pentatonic scales and distortion tone make Guthrie's playing sounds more like blues or rock but Guthrie still improvises according to the chord progression like Jazz musicians do. In rock&blue improvising, one will tend to use less scales or even one scale to play through the chords and care less about the chords than in jazz improvising.Guthrie didnt do it like that. This is totally jazz,if you take fusion as jazz.
I love what the Aristocrats can accomplish and do but The Fellowship always makes me happier...
the fellowships 2nd album is guthries best work ever
@@bassmania84 what is the name of the album?
All these years, and I never knew Guthrie had a brother. Dude sure kills it on the bass.
lol love how Guthrie starts his solo with 2 notes, then takes a minute to just hang around and comes back with the same 2 notes
Have been following this band since 2006. They used to play every Thursday evening at The Bassment Chelmsford UK
Zak now plays at Hot Box in Chelmsford!

this band is freaking amazing, waoooohhhhhh
Wonderful music and performance! Congrats!:)
Great job again Pino!
Welcome to history Guthrie.
I love the fast descending lick he climaxes at 2 min 39! perfect buildup and fitting over the chord change! best guitar player in the world? probably!
Hihi you don t know bireli lagrene or Adrien moignard ????
@@zagafredo neither of which are as technically proficient as Guthrie and he matches each of them in the realm of jazz.
@@OhGodWhatIsThisAah sounds incredible man. Actually, in realm of jazz, I think Guthrie need to learn a lot from these guys about technic and ideas.
Superbe Performance!
Excellent
hi'a, great sounds there, loved it, good show, best wishes ♫ :)
I didn't know Guthrie have a brother :O Freaking amazing :D
this kills.
Pete Riley on drums, who recorded along with Guthrie and Seth 'Erotic Cakes'

love that Jeff Beck vibe!

jazz is the new shred
I wouldn't exactly call this jazz.
I would absolutely love to know how Guthrie thinks .. taking all those notes and organizing them into sounds that both he and us wanna hear ..

I guess it comes with 40+ years of studying every guitarist and playing so much in every genre to the level of a performing gigs
Quote rick beato on Vinnie Colouita “thought is the enemy of flow”. Guthrie doesn’t think when he’s improvising.
Aaaaaahhhhh! :D Okay! This is a good explanation! :D

FUUUUUSIIIIOOON :D
And Guthrie !
xD
the bassist is guthrie's brother seth
It tells you this 50 seconds into the video. You don't need to tell us that.
Both brothers look so similar lol
@@gibsondanny well the video just tell us their name and last name, not if they are family, so dont, the video does not says that.
2:40 that band!!!
guthrie govan had just summoned his doppelganger...
you either have to be bald or in the 99th percentile of hairiness to play in this band.
10 years ago and you just made me laugh😂
i see Scott H lick on beginning ... anyway greats
good very single not to mention visual fancy that he has
Guthrie is playing thru a fender deluxe..... really notice that wen his soloing!
Original by the Dave Weckl Band
guthrie govan on guitars and bass.
That sax players t-shirt size is a Sm-medium.
I think he's obsessed with people like john scofield so he likes a presence boost and woody tone, it's not for everyone. But it does cut through the mix
seth is better at complimenting guthrie than beller, but beller is very much his own aritst
+Matteo Allegra No - if you watch at 2:55 carefully he gives a thumbs up to Guthrie's shoes
Matteo Allegra I'm clever like that.
Yea it's his brother Seth.
That's his older brother, Seth :)
i was there, him and his brother are the same person XD
2:38 2:40
Guthrie's son is on the Sax!
He's on bass actually. The sax was incredible too
@@TheSpiralout11235 it's his brother on the bass not his son
Zak Berret is on sax
Wow, poor Seth.
His brother is like an identical twin.
no, it's Dave Weckl
Wish Guthrie played this Suhr still. He doesn't do the whammy bar stuff anymore!
Seth Govan i didn’t know he had a bass player brother
ang gaying gaying nmn...
They really stay outside a long time on this tune. Not my thing, but good music all the same.
:')
Haha :D The bass player totally looks like Guthrie! xD
(I won´t post comments about GG anymore. It´s all said. Summary: No. 1)
I wanna know which chord Guthrie playing while sax solo is on🤔🤔
I can BARELY even hear him .. his chorus/leslie effect also makes it super difficult to discern the chords.
So that was Guthrie's brother on bass then ?
no, it was your mother. readily identifiable by the beard.
Somebody knows the chords?
INFUKINSANE GUITAR!!! Good GOD!!!
even though seth is a fantastic bass player, having guth as your brother would be interesting haha
Is this a Guthrie Original?
Is the bass player any brother of guthrie?.looks like almost same.
The bass player is Guthries brother Seth.
i think the one dislike is surely a mistake. must have meant to press the like button but slipped.....ha ha
doing jeff beck better than jeff beck does jeff beck
He is Crazy Canaan...LOL
Editing out the drummer on his solo? Boo
1:43 synesthesia?

Jimi Hendrix passed the guitar wizardry torch to Steve Ray Vaughn, and SRV passed it to Guthrie Govan.
scary as hell
right? lol
If Hendrix lived he'd playing in the same vein as Guthrie.
Lol

no really?

I disagree it sounds more like a presence-mid tone to me, not much bass or treble at all!

Saxophonist is the only who can play jazz. Guthrie cant play jazz at all. He play rock in this session. Only major scale.
Lol what bit of his solo was the major scale?
Only the Major scale? Have you been sniffing glue?
What about his rhythm playing...? And he CAN play jazzier solos, just look it up.
