For the final installment of the first round of our Ancient Games series, we're taking on another Ancient Egyptian board game called Mehen! This is the oldest one of the three, arising in the Pre-dynastic era and going out of fashion after the Old Kingdom. Watch how we make it! For this video, we're focussing on research, and designing and making the game. We laser cut the board and all of its pieces. This is probably the most beautiful looking board yet!

I was so against it coming into our house you can literally make ANYTHING! It's incredible. Now that Geert also has a 3D printer, the possibilities are endless!

Great question! This one was fast to cut... Only took maybe an hour at most
If you want the engraved detail we had on Ur, the top along took an hour and a half
Is there a specific level of patron that I must be in order to get a copy of the file so that I can print your games?
Nope! Just the first level unlocks it

Did you ever play the decider? I'll be very disappointed if Raven can't win. After all, she knows the rules (well as well as anyone does), so if she's getting beat, all she has to do is claim Geert isn't abiding by them and say she wins!

It will be a tie. Like when you flip a coin for heads or tails and it bounces, and ends up leaning on edge on something. How about Raven wins the game, and Geert wins because there is food provided during play? I don't how many languages you speak, Raven (although I know you could read the street signs in hieroglyphics in ancient Egypt) but, considering that a person can only go back not many hundred years and not even recognize English anymore, where would be your "sweet spot" to land if you were to time travel...and still know what's going on?
I totally forgot to feed Geert while we played Mehen 😅. But we ate well right afterwards!!
Oooh that's a good question! I feel like I've read enough Shakespeare to offer a decent base for functioning then? It would take some time to figure things out. Not sure I could go back further

Exactly my thoughts...get back as far as Shakespeare...and then be at a loss! But when I saw your Museum Game...I was thinking THAT might be a good time to travel back too! Late eighteen hundreds/early nineteen hundreds. LOTS of cool discoveries were being made!
