    What is a kayak patch?
A kayak repair patch or kayak tape is an easy and cheap way to repair a hole in your kayak or to protect your kayak from being damaged in the first place. You can use it to repair your kayak, boat, tanks, plumbing and much more.
    How to repair a kayak?
If you are a fan of kayaking or kayak fishing, sooner or later accidents are going to happen. Underwater obstacles can sometimes damage your kayak and make a hole, cut, or scratch in it.
A kayak patch is an easy way to safely repair your kayak especially if you are outdoors and want to continue your adventure. That is why a kayak patch is a handy thing to have and should be a necessary part of your kayaking gear.
However, when repairing your kayak you will want to use the best kayak patch possible. Unless you are fond of swimming, of course. That is why, for the purpose of this video on how to quickly repair your kayak, we decided to also do a review of Gator Guards Gator Patch, which we find to be one of the most reliable kayak patches in the market.
We choose it because Gator Guards kayak patch sticks to almost any surface and has an exceptional grip. We also compared it with other kayak patches and found that Gator Guard Patch really stands out in durability and longevity. It is absolutely waterproof, very durable, and since it can also be painted it is a great option even for a long-lasting kayak repair. Especially if you are on a budget.

How do you remove it once it’s worn through and you want to apply a new piece, or do you have to just add it over the old piece?

The UV resin is not attached to the boat hull directly. The only thing holding the hardened/shaped UV cured resin to the hull is the 3M adhesive tape layer on the back of the resin strip. Just use a hair dryer on high heat to warm up the resin along its full length and just pry it up. Like heating duct tape or a price label on an item to pull the tape/tag off easier. Same principal, its just a stiff form that requires all of it to be warmed at the same time.
P.S. Do not sand your hull~! 3M adhesive, just like any TAPE, adheres best on GLASS SMOOTH surfaces. Scrap off your curls and gouge ridges to a smooth finish, clean and apply the resin.
