Feel free to ask me questions that weren't answered in this video!
(Keep in mind I only played a limited bit of the game though)
Does it have ultrawide support?
And it was turned into an anime
@@KuraiAether Unfortunately I didn't test that since I don't have an Ultrawide Monitor
Aint this just the one on the app store just on pc and ps?
@@ycb955 Sort of, it has some new features (such as voice acting and Japan exclusive DLC that is now available for everyone at launch) and many of its textures/effects are slightly overhauled & enhanced. Its a remaster, not a remake, basically
Honestly dude, huge congrats on getting approached my capcom to make this video. Im sure this is a massive milestone for you, and seeing this channel grow is amazing.
Yes GG to Oceaniz. He’s one of the big guys now :3
It made me very happy to hear because that means that they actually care - even after all these years and after they went global. It’s great news to me :D
I was also stoked that they apparently reached out. I'm glad to know they appreciate Oceaniz the way I do
Monster Hunters Stories is the best thing that has happened to MH simply because it gave us the fanfic-goldmine that are Monster Riders
What do u mean fanfic? 🤔
@@WORTH-IT-MAN Uh... I mean that the idea of Monster Riders is ripe for fanfics?
@@WORTH-IT-MANhe meant he likes writing stories about riders
The day this was announced, I was considering dusting off my 3DS to replay the first game. I was so hyped when the remaster was announced!
Even on the 3DS, seeing a pink Rathian in the forest of cherry blossoms was jaw-dropping.
And then getting your ass kicked by said Pink Rathian was even more jaw dropping lol
@@TheFluffyTheropod yes
Pink rathian was my first defeat in mh stories 1 and love the cherry blossom too when I first entered.
I actually beat Pink Rathian in my first encounter. It was nice to have stronger gear that early. Something I missed in 2.
At 1:32 your velocidrome was looking at you like "if i die this is your fault" lol😂
Classic drome behaviour
As someone whose first introduction to the series as a whole was through Stories1 on the 3DS, prior to my first mainline entry with 4U.
Seeing the original entry, one I have a huge fondness and nostalgia for, of this amazing spin-off series now more accessible than ever to a wider audience.. alongside its stellar sequel, has gotta be one of the coolest feelings I’ve had in awhile!
Really looking forward to replaying this gem of a game on Switch this summer!
(I should also mention how big of a deal it is that we FINALLY got the Japanese Exclusive Content translated for worldwide, which was a fairly stacked amount of content the 3DS/IOS versions over here never had for their postgame.)
same
Monster Hunter Stories is a hidden gem, and a remaster is exactly what it needed. It’s one of my favorite games, and I’m personally happy that I can share my love for this game with my sibling, similarly to what I did with the sequel.
And from the lackluster reception of the first game, it hit me in the feels when we got a second one. I almost cried when they announced Stories 2, and I think I did cry when they announced the remaster. I also purchased the art book for Stories 2, which does include some concept art for the first game we never saw.
I’m very glad you are enjoying the game so far, I hope you go deeper in your review. Stories was my introduction into the MH world, and though I’m not good at the mainline games, I do have a deep appreciation for the series
They got a art book! I need it
One thing I wish both Stories games did is using the actual theme of a specific monsters. It felt odd to fight a Rajang, Brachydios, and Mizutsune while not hearing their unique theme music. In Stories 2, only Velkhana and Fatalis get to use their music themes.
I missed the element changing system SO much in stories 2, you can technically do it, but it’s borderline impossible and nothing about the monster changes. In stories 1 not only would the monsters color change but the kinship skill would get an elemental effect to match.
Watching Seregios dive bomb with dragon energy or Silver Rathalos Nuke the area with Ice was amazing to watch and experiment with
OCEAN "THE GOAT" IZ GOT APPRAOCHED BY CAPCOM
THE LORD OF LORE HAS ASCENDED
The lord of lore I love that
Monster Hunter Stores was my first Monster Hunter game and I am very happy more people will get to experience it now.
Guess who gets to have the prequel to one of their favorite games ever release exactly on their birthday?
Dude this was such a treat of a video.
I was never into playing the mainline Monster Hunter games, so when the first MH Stories game was introduced to 3DS, I was immediately in awe. So, when I got the game in my hands and played it from start to finish, I fell in love with this game so much that I still play my original 3DS copy and now having up to 134+ hours. Like, this was the only 3DS game that has this many hours so it makes sense that I became obsessed.
Then years went by. The announcement of MH Stories 2: Wings of Ruin was introduced and it made me absolutely just lose it all together just because I get to play my favorite game's sequel on a Switch, though it took 3 years finally to complete the main story because personal life took over and had to shelve it for a moment. But when the remaster announcement was given, I got determined to finish MH Stories 2 before I start to play the original when it comes out. And I did. Now with the glorious 109+ hours poured in while finishing the game, I can now happily just wait to play the original game that gave me so much of comfort when I needed it the most.
It's good to be a Rider ❤
My childhood is returning once more
Listen, I love the second game, but the lack of the element change mechanic is really what kept me from loving it nearly as much as the first. It really helped the monsters feel genuinely unique
I’m lucky enough to have a copy of MHST on the 3ds, as a birthday present, and it actually took me a couple years to play it but lemme say I LOVE THIS GAME *SO MUCH* HOLY CRAP-
I wish I knew how to model things digitally to that level but man there's is just soooo much to learn. I admire your creations!
Stories was my first monster hunter game and I owe monster hunter stories for most of the things that happened to me in my life I'm excited
I wish stories 2 kept the color change on monsties! That’s what made the first one so good too!
Literally one of my favorite games ever, I put hundreds of hours in the 3ds version. Stories 2 is a fantastic game, but the charm of the first one still gets me lol
Thank you for a awesome video!
Oh!! I didn't know there was going to be a remaster! This is great bc I played the demo for the 3ds forever ago, but they took down the store for the 3ds before I actually got to play it. It'll be nice to finally get a chance to play it!
I had the game on 3DS but have been so tempted to get it again for that museum and Japan exclusive postgame goodness. Glad to hear its shaping up as well as it originally was! Great review!
8:57 no no, the color change mechanic was still in MHS2. It's just that the Monstie's natural element would overpower any +Elem bonuses from genes and change it to "default colors". But if you get enough of the correct genes and innate element at low level, Monsties will be different color
MHS became one of my top 5 games
and i wish to see more stories games
1:31 Wow, that Khezu has a beautiful voice!
I remember buying the game on my phone back in 2020. I beat the main story in a week because I just couldn’t get off it, it’s so good.
How?
I can't wait for friday (for me the game releases on friday) cause i abselutly love mh stories 1 !
It was my VERY first Monster Hunter game (i got the one for 3ds) wich i had picked up per chance cause i din't know anything about Monster Hunter before it and the Mh Stories games have become my abselute favorite games in general , wich is why i'm really happy for the stories 1 remake 😊
MHS2 was my introduction to Monster Hunter, and I love it for that. Super interested in playing this, at some point.
Also, definitely looking forward to more Monster Hunter Ecology! Can we maybe get vids on Astalos, Nerscylla, and Lagiacrus in the future?
I stumbled upon the demo of MHS1 while I was looking for fun games on my phone. I will never regret buying and playing the full version of the game after I reached the end of the demo.
Im sure wed all love for you to do a full playthrough of the game, not just a full review
I was able to get my hands on a copy of the original 3DS version of this game and it was not too long after I started playing monster Hunter world and ice born and I could not put this game down. Neither could I do with the sequel I could not put either of these versions down that I loved the monster Hunter story games
ok i already cant wait to play this
did they improve the egg and channeling systems to that in 2? because in the original 1 creature had 4 egg patterns and you could only channel if the genes were in the same position.
Rise was my first game and I've been hooked ever since. Played Stories 2 and also had a blast with it and was curious about the first game. Will be playing this for sure!
Loved Monster Hunter Stories on the 3DS, hyped to play it again when the remaster releases and then finally move on to play the second game which I still didnt play for whatever reason
Seeing you get to preview this is really cool and this really made me excited play this.
Time to ruin my exam prep with a new monster hunter game, again...
Would like to see a spinoff of wilds have a more cell shaded look with the same realistic proportions. Kind of like how Rise had a less realistic look. It would be nice if the models looked similar to how the concept art looked.
Could you make a video about death arms like tge mt lady and shinso one?
I played mhs1 when it came out i never expected a remaster
I just found this game on ps4 and I've been waiting to play with a few of my friends.
did you say there was a glitch where navirou's voicelines sometimes skip?
lmao instant buy!
If someone has the original game on the 3DS will the data be able to be transferred from it to the remastered game for the switch?
Like how in MHGU you could data transfer from MHG
Did they changed the egg color for the unique monsters Like in mhs2?
In the OG game an Monster egg can have multiple colored eggs which was very frustrating. And 2 questions did they add the Auto lvl scaling Like in the 2 entry? For example an Monster in the endgame which i really would loved to use for the end fight was stuck at lvl 1 and grinding it to lvl idk 64 was very stupid. So did they make any Change to this toppic?
Egg colors still work as they did in the OG, the same monster can have differently colored eggs.
I didn't get to the endgame so I don't know the full implications of the Level Scaling, but leveling up new Monsties up to Party Level was pretty smooth so the curve *might* have been adjusted? You also get a lot of Monstie Food that can help with leveling, so I was never in a situation where I had to grind a team members level for a long time.
I wonder if they'll add the rest of the faded four to this remake, as only Glavenus was in stories 1, and my favorite monster of all time is Astalos.
It would certainly be nice to play stories 1 again too
Changing a Monstie's element in Stories 2 was possible, just more difficult, and there were no visual changes to the Monstie or its attacks happened. Not sure if it works this way in Stories 1, but in Stories 2 it worked like this:
Monsties have Element Attack and Element Defense - Fire/Water/Ice/Thunder/Dragon and Non-Elemental. A Monstie's default element is usually the highest, and the element it is weak to is the lowest. By using the (Element) Attack Up genes, you could raise its Element Attack to become higher than its default, thus changing the Monstie's element. But very often, the Monstie's element will change back when it levels up. You would need to stack multiple (Element) Attack Up genes to keep this from happening.
This is great to hear! Also congrats on gettin Capcom´s attention for this Preview!
I will let this fuel my fever dreams and comfort me in the thought that there will be a Stories 3 some day, there is no way they're putting ressources into this for "nothing"
I got Stories 2 on the Switch a while back and started it a bit (like 2 or 3 hours, really not much) and wondering if I shouldn't just go first through Stories 1 once it releases since I didn't get it at the time. Any thoughts about that ?
While many characters make their return as young adults instead of kids, the storylines only vaguely connected. Nothing from MHS story wise really transfers to MHS2 besides some of the side characters and some offhand mentions of the black blight happening years ago (driving storyline of MHS). Feel free to go ham on MHS2
played the original and two loved both but kinda hope they add new things would be nice
I still wish to this day that they put in Gore Magala in these games and that you can tame it. They put it's frenzy virus/blight in these games which would go perfectly with it and makes total sense to it being there
I nabbed the original just before the 3ds eshop shut down. Only played a little. Also got 3U and 4U. Stories 2 was actually how i got into monster hunter. A few hours in and i had Rise downloading, and then i went back for world and generations ultimate. Id love to have this on my switch, but its been MIA since the first week of december. So it looks like ill get it and stories 2 on ps4. That and smt5 vengeance means next month will be super expensive
Is the black blight frenzy ?
I hope this remaster means we will soon-ish get an announcement for a third game :3
God I would explode with excitement
I am really excited for this to release, but I do still have one question about it. In combat, do the wild monsters use random attacks like the original or do they stick to a move type like in the second game? I rather not run into something like a velocidrome who only spams technical attacks and no speed attacks.
They still change up their patterns but its not completely random. So for example, Pink Rathian will always do Power -> Speed -> Power -> Speed. So the patterns are still more complex than in Stories 2, but they're not complete chaos, at least not at the point where I played.
They were never random, patterns are just more complex. They also get a new pattern once below 50% health
Is the rite of channeling the same in mhs 2 in which you can choose where to put the gene slot in?
The Rite works as it did in the OG, so you have to transfer Genes to the same slot they're in on the offering-monstie, unfortunately.
@@Oceaniz I LOVE EXTRA GRINDING FOR RNG. ITS MY FAVORITE. Very unfortunate that the rite works the same as it did in the og.
I still have and can play the og on the 2ds
I enjoyed MHStories so damn much!
The main reason that kept me from playing beyond Fatalis was the more than obvious Nintendo Switch Hardware limitation in Level size.
Even in direct comparison with MHRise/Sunbreak the level size in Stories 2 was straight up poor.
But the design, combat system, story, characters and most importantyl the gen-system were all super fun.
I hope with all my might that Stories 3 (hopefully it doesn't keep us waiting for too long) will be a "bigger" game.
My question though is how different does Stories 1 feel to Stories 2?
I'm so happy that the Monster Hunter language option is still around, I'm looking forward to my copy arriving in the mail. I bought this game twice on the 3ds because I wanted to share with my friends.
Anyways I do have a question: did they bring back that grind-skip mechanic that Stories 2 had that if you're way overleveled for the fight (regular monsters only and have fought one before) that you can insta-kill the monster?
I did not encounter that mechanic in the time that I played, so it might not be in this game unfortunately.
The grind skip mechanic was one of the best things in mhs2, I really hope they didn't remove it. But seeing how they re-added the color changes for genes then I am assuming they kept player feedback in mind. So hopefully it will still be there.
@@Oceaniz That's slightly unfortunate, but just means I get to practice more. Stories was my gateway to the Monster Hunter franchise, so regardless of changes I'm excited to play it again on the big screen.
How are the load times cuz when i played on one of those smash bros theme 3ds the load times where long?
Super quick, never was an issue. I was on PC tho so idk how they'll be on consoles
are all of these footage coming from mhst 1 remastered? I am pretty sure it looks very familiar to mhst 2 and I am kinda confused rn 😅
Yes, all of this is MHST1 unless theres text in the bottom left corner saying otherwise :D
Still find it funny they didn’t add gore magala seriously would have been perfect for the story
I played the original on 3ds, I can tell you it's really good, id say better than stories 2, if 2 has anything over 1 it's certain changes to certain mechanics like having 3 weapons equipped so yo7 can have easy access to different element types or damage types. There are also some changes that's better in 1, like the ability to actually change your monsties element. There is one thing I'm curious about, but I won't know til I see the switch version. For those curious, on the 3ds you could get Epona as a monstie if you scanned a zelda series amiibo.
Anyways I wonder how faithful it will be to the original and what things from mhs2 they brought over to this version.
Yay i can now have a fire kitty and steel dragon as a pet!
Huge congrats on basically being "sponsored" by Capcom. You did it!
W Monster hunter channel. honestly. I can't wait to replay stories 1 and 2 with both my BFF and Girlfriend (both never played either)
Hope ya'll are doing well and having a great time.
Awesome! Thanks For this! You're the Best ❤❤❤
MHStories kinda comes to show that spinoffs of existing franchises have potential to be successful
I'm so excited for this game I almost got 700 hours when it came out for 3ds
Stories 1 also released on Android. I'm excited to replay Stories 1 AND 2 on my PS5! And MHST 1 for the first time with voices, also the Japan only content
From someone that has played the very first monster Hunter stories I will say this it has changed but the graphics is almost the same in my opinion I hope they do upgrade a little before the release date but so far it is better than the original
Had no clue that MH stories existed until I saw the remaster trailer, preordered the remaster and bought 2 immediately. I immensely enjoyed 2, did every quest and 100% the monsterpedia along with getting as many trophies as possible. Working on the monstiepedia, kinship gallery, and the pvp ones (Nobody plays pvp anymore, didn't even see people playing co-op missions while I was doing expeditions either).
I'm kinda on the fence about the remaster, on one hand it seems great, but on the other hand I don't like the still portraits for story, how the same monster can have different colored eggs, how genes are locked to a specific slot on the bingo board making it insanely more grindy and rng based, the possibility of the quick finish not returning, and having to deal with navirou for a whole nother game. Also, hot take. I don't mind a game being 'childish' aka bright palette, cartoony graphics, that sort of thing. But I also don't like playing as a child, and having most of the cast be children. If the characters in mhs2 are young adults, then these ones are definitely children.
I love them both, I wish MHS2 would be on mobile too
Holy sht! Beautiful news! I absolutely adored Stories 2! This is going to be so incredible to play on SteamDeck
I didnt know the first stories was getting a remaster! I love this game so much!! I have to play it when it officially gets released! I miss the element change mechanic that they removed in the second game (they should have kept it!) I like the difficulty level of the first game more than the second game tbh. I'm most excited for the additions and voice acting! (Omg Cheval xDDD) I hope they fix some of the minor bugs by the time the official release
Using the rite of channeling, does the gene you transfer have to be in the exact same spot that it was in on the sacrificial monster? That's the way it was in the original release and it drove me insane. Also, it seems to me like a lot of the "typeless" genes have been given power/speed/tech instead of being blank. That was something else that bothered me in the original release because it was really difficult to achieve bingos when most of the attacks didn't have a type, just an element.
...still not sure if I want to get it, if only because Mizutsune was the only water monster in the second game that I really liked, and it wasn't in the first game. What I did on the 3DS was get a Lagiacrus and make it water element, but man, the lack of Mizutsune stung, especially since Glavenus was added later as a DLC monster and we really have enough fire element monsters to choose from already. Seriously. (this is a minor gripe, I understand, Mizutsune is just my favorite monster that isn't an Elder Dragon and the selection of water monsters is pitiful)
I played the first game, it's an amazing game
I’m glad that this is finally coming to light. MHS 1 and 2 are both SEVERELY UNDERRATED and I can’t stand it being overlooked anylonger
If only Stories 1 and 2 have new game plus.
Ok why would they even need a feature like that. There's literal HOURS of content past the main story
Actual useless feature
Not necessarily the game but the anime was fun to watch too, it just feels like anime that belonged in the era of Cartoon Network dropping idk Beyblade and Bakugan and Pokemon might be misremembering if it was CN but I’m saying cable or the fact someone had the whole anime in CZcams.
Sidenote: I just need to know are the vas both in the JP and EN for the remaster the ones who were casted for the original and remaster?
I loved the first game but one thing I really hope they fix in the remaster is balancing out the level curve because it was crazy bad in the first game
Aint this just the one on the app store just on pc and ps?
Nice monstie names
if you want the original for the 3DS i have one but i live in germany
I'm a little disappointed it seems like they decided to keep the Rite of Channeling to how it worked in 1 and not 2 but I'm excited to get to play this again
Still hoping for Monster Hunter Stories 3 one day.
Bunky the Arzuros❤
How do you like it compared to the second game? Same, better, a little worse?
2:25 this game looks better than Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. It's inexcusable at this point, Pokemon.
I'm curious how this remake will run on the Nintendo Switch. Monster Hunter Stories 2 ran pretty poorly so who knows, but I hope they learned from 2 and will try to make this one run better. I feel like these titles really lend themselves nicely to handheld/relaxing game play.
I belive MHS2 also had 144 fps. Pretty sure thats how i played it on PC.
Is a charming little game, funny enough It's the most expensive game out of them all on steam, it never goes under $30.
Are there 🏆 Trophy´s to unlock on PS4/XBox
There are on Steam so I'd expect them to be on console as well! The Game also has an internal achievement system for your Rider Card
@@Oceaniz Nice, U can count me in to buy both again😅😉
now that they are remaking an older monster hunter game, can they make older monster hunter games playable on modern hardware please? just throw em on pc or something please capcom i wanna play the first few games and dont wanna have to buy a bunch of old consolesss
I like how I just watched this just because I wanted to see if he said anything which isn't true.. 😅
Well he didn't 👍
For anyone who wants to play this, I have played it way too much and can tell you it's worth it. Anytime I was done with one playthrough, I sarted another.. So check it out yourself!
DONT TALK ABOUT MY MOTHER
I hope the Zelda DLC will be free 😢
I hope they add an option to leave Navirou behind when exploring. I love Stories and kicking ass with my super awesome Rajang, but Navirou is absolutely grating. He's my only big gripe about the game. Though credit where it's due, he did make me appreciate the Handler more. I'm sorry, Handler. You are as reckless as a coked up Deviljho, have all the wisdom of a concussed Jaggi, and almost got both of us killed that one time, but at least you are not Navirou.
The game is pretty easy as long as you're not get jumped by rajang in ruins
is it just me or di they just RIP THEMSELF
i mean look at black bligth and frenzy virus
arent they kinda the same i mean both are a treat to nature ,both make monsters stronger both are black deasises
is gore magala in the game? if not then that would be stupid it would explain what the black bligth is
There is no Gore Magala in this game, also, the black blight and the frenzy virus are not related and both have different origins.
@@teerapat861 well tjays weird
THEY STILL SIMILAR AS FUCK THO
Who's gonna tell him about the rage rays from 2 lmao.
In terms of functionality, the frenzy virus, black blight, curios, and rage rays (MHS2) all affect monsters very similarly. Increased aggression, lack of self preservation, and generally stronger for a brief time (until they die). This is a recurring plot point because it is easy, convenient, allows simple difficulty spikes, and is generally a good way to add more variation to the roster.
took you long enough ... i saw the anime first long ago and played it later after few years
Having to listen to the horrible voice acting that I hated in the animated series really has me not looking forward to playing the game.
