- From playing Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, to her roles in hit films such as Never Let Me Go, Drive and An Education, Carey Mulligan knows the power of beauty to help an actor transform into character. Her latest role in the Emerald Fennell-directed Promising Young Woman uses the power of make-up and transformation to particularly great effect.
In our exclusive video, Mulligan opens up her beauty bag to share the products she uses on a daily basis - including the Barbara Sturm serum she swears by, the concealer she uses "on the bad bits", the device that makes lines and wrinkles "go away like magic", and the primer that makes "everything look better".
"I think my views on beauty have changed just getting older," she tells us. "I feel like the idealised idea of beauty - everything we're fed in the media and photo shoots and all these things that are massively retouched - all of that stuff can be massively intimidating when you're younger. And then when you get a bit older you realise that it truly is skin deep, and the majority of people who say they're just drinking a lot of water are actually having a lot of cosmetic surgery. It just makes you chill a bit and relax."

No celebrity in the world is beautiful without either very expensive beauty products or surgery(specially after a certain age)... we're all human beings, younger people generally look beautiful with little makeover,but when someone looks extraordinarily beautiful after 40/50, it's always something done with their face...

@@cloudydumpling492 it's not only about awards, I'm talking about name recognition, fan base. A lot of people are sleeping on her talent and don't know her name or don't value her work enough. I'm glad that her new film opens people's eyes on how good she is.
Bruh, I've watched Pride & Prejudice many times and not realized that Carey was one of the Bennet Sisters cast members! She's such a sweetheart and underrated too. Glad that Promising Young Woman became a career highlight for her
“Criminally underrated” is a massive stretch. She’s arguably got the performance that’s getting the most shit-hot attention this year. And it’s not just a recent thing. Hell I remember everyone was talking about her when An Education came out.
She’s not quite an A-lister, so maybe “overlooked” is the word you’re looking for. Because everyone who has actually seen and “rated” her work has rated it very highly.
I would say she’s correctly rated. Sure she’s not in the public eye much or talked about loads, but she gets the best roles and gets nominated for awards like every other year. Pretty perfect career if you ask me, and way less suffocating than some of the A-listers that get followed around all the time.

Carey Mulligan is one of very few actresses in Hollywood who hasn't done to her face any surgery, any bottox and all these sh*ts. And she looks so beautiful. I love how she is all about natural care and true wisdom, which, if all women would have same attitude as her, a world would be filled with more beauty and perceived as where it truly comes from: within. Aging would be looked at as for what it is; the most natural thing in the world no one should feel ugly or ashamed for. Thank you Carey for being the way you are.

She looks amazing with blonde hair!!! 😲 I've always remembered her as a brunette for some reason.
I think the movie that made her famous mainstream, like world wide wise was An Education and her hair is a super dark chocolate Brown, and it's styled kind of big with these massive bangs because of the movie being set in the 60's, plus she had these massive curtain Bangs. Compared to after that in most of her films or real life images at events and magazines she has remained close if not at what looks like her natural blonde hair shade.
