However, I am still avoiding any travel to Florida until the state elects a Democrat governor who won’t be afraid to shut down this theme park for at least a year the way Gavin Newsom did in California. DeSantis is a fascist dictator who refused to use his power to shut down the Florida theme park industry in response to Covid, a decision which I’m sure resulted in millions of deaths. Florida needs to get its act together and start behaving more like California, which is a virus-free state now thanks to all of Governor Newsom’s great work.
It appears Universal is taking their food offerings very seriously. They have been doing so since Volcano Bay opened with that really awesome menu which had to be scaled back and now with Minions Cafe. This is a good sign.

They took over 5 years to build one cloned ride. I can’t even imagine a whole brand new theme park, multiple resorts, backstage and transport infrastructure from scratch 💀

The scale of some of these areas of the park, especially the Harry Potter area, are mind-boggling. Can't imagine how much money they are spending to build this park, but as a Florida resident I'm hella excited to drive to Orlando to visit this place
One thing I think would be really cool for the Wizarding World is some sort of interactive experience involving magical beasts to go along with the Fantastic Beasts films. Maybe things like getting to bow to/pet a hippogriff, feed the puffskeins (watch out for their long tongues!).

I understand that there are fans, but among the Harry Potter fans, they are few. I kept watching these update videos hopping that they would decide to change it, but no. It became more and more Parisian with every update. It sounds like this may be a more “modern” Paris, well, as modern as the Wizarding World gets, because they can’t time travel with Doc Brown’s institute gone, so we have guests wondering around a Wizarding Paris, and taking the floo network to London to actually see Harry Potter stuff. It doesn’t make much sense to have a Fantastic Beasts land and no attractions beyond the circus to really take you into that world, so it seems to me that they last minute did add in Harry Potter, reworking things instead of a “help me capture that magical creature” type ride. If you only have time to resdesign something, you change the ride, rather than the land itself. I would be curious to know what their plans are for the expansion area. Will it be HP or FB? Rumors say HP, with either a Great Hall restaurant, or that quidditch broom ride that originally was believed to replace fear factor.

As a monster fan I am excited. The name "Curse of the Werewolf" is very Hammer Horror film though, but I don't think it'll cause any confusion, its a little odd name. I kind of hope that they use this opportunity to put back up the sets that were in Studio 28, the iconic Phantom of the Opera auditorium. I can think of no better place to put it. And maybe they can bring back out the makeup shows? Or even have a little exhibition for things from these movies, since they are so important for the history of Universal.
I'm fascinated by the name choice of "Wizarding World Ministry of Magic." Like I get that the fantastic beasts films didn't perform nearly as well as WB hoped, but imagine if Diagon Alley was named "Wizarding World of Harry Potter- Gringotts Bank" lol. The best way that Disney could hope to compete with Epic Universe is by investing more in Star Wars within their parks. Specifically, the original movies. There’s a plethora of untapped potential that could easily equate to an entirely new park, with different lands based on various planets within the SW galaxy. And by utilizing ideas from the original movies, they’ll appeal to older fans that have the disposable income for these kinds of activities on a regular basis.

But anyone who's been paying attention to Disney for the past 15yrs, knows they aren't going to do anything that's truly imaginative and key word: EXPENSIVE. They want to spend the least amount possible to do anything these days. And what they do build is usually somewhat lackluster. Most of the imagineers are now working for Universal. Thus the beauty of their expansions and new parks. Meanwhile at the Mouse House: Lots of promises, with very little results.

While I'm pretty good with pronouncing the Romance languages, I'm far from great with French. So I'd say all yours are in the "close enough" except for maybe "Sirène", which is a word I have said aloud, for some reason. (Probably art-related. French painters like them some Sirènes.) Anyhow, "see-RAIN" is close enough. As for K. Rammelle, the letter K is pronounced " ka" so it's basically Ka Rammelle. Clever, no?

What if Universal gave us a surprise 2024 opening 👀? Like hear me out, provided that no major setbacks occur, at this rate the theming will be completed, and you can only test a completely finished ride SO many times before you reach the beginning of the wear and tear stages. It just seems like a bomb of an idea to do a little sneaky marketing and drop a surprise grand opening at the end of the year. Prepare your staff and systems accordingly so they could give all the true fans who have been waiting for this moment an "equal 👀" opportunity to be a part of the grand opening celebrations that will no doubt make disney a ghost town for a few weeks.... Just sayin'
I prefer they finished the park in the end of 2024, and keep polishing it until the summer 2025 opening. I don't think Universal will want another disaster opening in 1990.
It's absolutely not opening in 2024. Not even close. They cannot open until the Kirkman Rd Extension project is finished which isn't scheduled until Q1 2025, the Hotels won't be ready until 2025 and people need to plan their vacations around that. As far as testing goes, VelociCoaster tested for at least 6 months as an idea of how long they test attractions before opening them. Ride vehicles aren't even onsite for some attractions so they can't even start pull-through testing before they start actual testing. They haven't even started with TM hiring yet for this park which will take months and months to hire and then train them. They'll need around 10-12,000 TM's to open this park and you can't just take TM's from the current parks as they need to still function too. There's no way in hell it can open at the at anytime in 2024. There's so much more work to be done that you don't see. We're all just seeing the buildings go up with theming around them. The internals of the buildings aren't done and it'll be months before they are. IDK why people keep bringing this up because it's absolutely not happening. It's wishful thinking at best.
@@ducktails1695That's a great point about the staffing. That's a lot of employees to hire even in a metro area of 2.6 million people. You also have to wonder how many more people are also going to visit the extant Universal Orlando parks and possibly have some incremental hiring there as well.
Of the only things that Disney is still doing better than Universal is night time entertainment. I really hope this park changes that and I hope their firework show is a mixture of happily ever after and world of color. They should also project on the hotel, as that would be a big missed opportunity if they didn't do that
Universal is limited in what they can do at their current parks. They can't do true fireworks (which is why you never see them) because it's proximity to the Dr. Phillips neighborhood which is where Universal resides. Perhaps they'll do a drone show instead at the current Universal parks next year. I think it would be nice to have a nighttime parade of some sort too.
This looks like a cool land, that's for sure, but why is there a Harry Potter land in this park? There's already a Harry Potter land in Universal Studios Florida.

While I'm pretty good with pronouncing the Romance languages, I'm far from great with French. So I'd say all yours are in the "close enough" except for maybe "Sirène", which is a word I have said aloud, for some reason. (Probably art-related. French painters like them some Sirènes.) Anyhow, "see-RAIN" is close enough.
As for K. Rammelle, the letter K is pronounced " ka" so it's basically Ka Rammelle. Clever, no?

(Is "Edelweiss" even 16 bars??) Still, it sounds fun! XD XD
What if Universal gave us a surprise 2024 opening 👀? Like hear me out, provided that no major setbacks occur, at this rate the theming will be completed, and you can only test a completely finished ride SO many times before you reach the beginning of the wear and tear stages. It just seems like a bomb of an idea to do a little sneaky marketing and drop a surprise grand opening at the end of the year. Prepare your staff and systems accordingly so they could give all the true fans who have been waiting for this moment an "equal 👀" opportunity to be a part of the grand opening celebrations that will no doubt make disney a ghost town for a few weeks.... Just sayin'
I prefer they finished the park in the end of 2024, and keep polishing it until the summer 2025 opening. I don't think Universal will want another disaster opening in 1990.
It's absolutely not opening in 2024. Not even close. They cannot open until the Kirkman Rd Extension project is finished which isn't scheduled until Q1 2025, the Hotels won't be ready until 2025 and people need to plan their vacations around that. As far as testing goes, VelociCoaster tested for at least 6 months as an idea of how long they test attractions before opening them. Ride vehicles aren't even onsite for some attractions so they can't even start pull-through testing before they start actual testing.
They haven't even started with TM hiring yet for this park which will take months and months to hire and then train them. They'll need around 10-12,000 TM's to open this park and you can't just take TM's from the current parks as they need to still function too.
There's no way in hell it can open at the at anytime in 2024. There's so much more work to be done that you don't see. We're all just seeing the buildings go up with theming around them. The internals of the buildings aren't done and it'll be months before they are. IDK why people keep bringing this up because it's absolutely not happening. It's wishful thinking at best.

@@ducktails1695That's a great point about the staffing. That's a lot of employees to hire even in a metro area of 2.6 million people. You also have to wonder how many more people are also going to visit the extant Universal Orlando parks and possibly have some incremental hiring there as well.

Of the only things that Disney is still doing better than Universal is night time entertainment. I really hope this park changes that and I hope their firework show is a mixture of happily ever after and world of color. They should also project on the hotel, as that would be a big missed opportunity if they didn't do that

Universal doesn't need fireworks. They have everything well in hand at night, but it might be interesting to see some.
Universal is limited in what they can do at their current parks. They can't do true fireworks (which is why you never see them) because it's proximity to the Dr. Phillips neighborhood which is where Universal resides. Perhaps they'll do a drone show instead at the current Universal parks next year. I think it would be nice to have a nighttime parade of some sort too.
This looks like a cool land, that's for sure, but why is there a Harry Potter land in this park? There's already a Harry Potter land in Universal Studios Florida.
