- If you guys have seen my videos, you will notice that I always refer to lighting the short side of the face, but I never really explained why I do. So in this video I will discuss the difference of lighting the broad side versus the short side.

Jiggie, thanks for this video. I was surprised the reflector could be effective on either side of axis. I should not have been since it is simply redirected light but it is great to be awakened to something you had not thought about before. Say, any chance you can lower the power on that ceiling lamp above your logo wall sign? The bright/glare is distracting in your in-studio videos. You know how in any image the viewer eyes are attracted to highlights? Trying to concentrate on your lighting types and positions is harder with that "headlight" in your eyes. Not a deal-breaker, as I really appreciate your instructive style, just a tiny thing I keep noticing. Maybe if it wasn't at your back in most scenes you would notice it also.
If I turn it off then you won’t see anything :) anyway that’s only evident when I decide to shoot with continuous light
Another great lesson Jiggie. Thank you!
You’re most welcome
Good lesson
🙏
Thanks alot bro
You’re welcome

Thanks
Good luck and have fun!
im here
God bless u jiggie

So in short lighting the shadow detail moves toward the direction of the camera? Sounds like you will get increased detail. Its something I like.
and another one popped up in the notifs. hahaha glad I had my tab open to do pre flight preps for my drone lol
Lol! Enjoy this one :)
I am enjoying it :) at least you're posting more dynamic learning vids again after a while
🙌🏾
🙏
Jiggie - I was wondering if there might be an issue with lens flare as you have that soft box pointed towards the camera. I see you have a hood on the lens, but is that enough? Maybe I would need to shield the camera with a screen or something?
no issue at all for me, but of course don't point it directly to the lens. also different lenses respond differently to flare
Great, thanks for your reply Jiggie 👍🏼
Mr. Alejandrino. Am I seeing another 5x7 backdrop on the floor?
Yes it’s a vinyl floor
Can we take a moment to appreciate the yeezys on feet. 👏
😂
Always enjoy working with you & Coco even if it’s virtually....
Hopefully you won't get sick of us, looks like we will be doing this more. LOL
I would love to see your wife behind the camera with her directing you! Wouldn't that be fun for her!
LOL
Your wife is so beautiful. She looks like Solenn
Thanks, or solenn looks like her :p
hmm...
Split light, broad light, short light are the same light viewed from a different angle anytime light migrates to the other side of the face(the shadow side) you have a different lighting pattern.
I thought the rule was to have the key light 45 degrees from the camera
In the end of the day, ask yourself this question, how did the photo turn out?
That is not a "rule" , there are many ways of getting great photos.
You have a model and you have a wife. What more can you asked for as a photographer?
🤙
Shutterspeed is ????
It’s there in every live view
