I think that Yhwach was always willing to get rid of his followers, no matter how important they were and that his level of affection for them was always proportionate to their relative usefulness. The reason he likes his personal guard more was simply that they were more useful in the long run, causing him to show a bit more respect for them as they would be required to work with him longer.
The thing to keep in mind here is that Yhwach believes that all things will return to him and that there is no greater honor than becoming part of him. He is not a 'king', he is a 'god'. In the same way biblical Jesus is a unique entity but also a part of God, Yhwach believes that all of his followers are part of him. If they die, they return. Them dying too early makes things more difficult for his 'remove death from all universes' goal so it's something he doesn't want. But, he also sees his followers, at least those of the pure Quincy, as children of sorts. He's not willing to kill them for no reason, but he's entirely willing to do so if forced.

Yesss. To Yhwach winning and achieveing his goals is above everything else no matter what. A true megalomaniac..

I generally agree. He "loves" his followers just like God "loves" all the people he's killed. It's ultimately insignificant to the grand scheme. He gave them life and they will return to him. He is solely responsible for their lives.

Indeed. All throughout the TYBW it is shown that Yhwach is willing to disregard even his own "children", as long at it benefits him. That is the whole point of him using the Auswählen, each time he uses it he does so on the more "important" members of the Quincy. First on the "impure" Quincy, then the regular Sternritters and finally on his Elite Guard.
That is why it is so fitting that it was his own "children", that ultimately help bring about his downfall.

They sure brought Gotei 13 to their knees. In the end Yhwach's willingness to dispose of them highlighted how he and others like him who want to change the worlds usually only have a narrow and exclusive vision. The world that emerges from their victory is one just for them and it often only makes sense to them alone. In the end Haschwald's lady friend subverted this by saving several Sternritters and Quincy foot soldiers and now they are the bulk of survivors hiding in the human world.

I was under the impression that the 4th slot in the Schutzstaffel was saved for possibly Gremmy or Pepe. Leaving an opening for promotion does give it an interesting motivation for the regular Sternritter to fight harder; though Askin really didn't do much of anything tbh.
Also I find Yhwach caring less about his troops fitting for him. He's been exalted as a God since birth and the fact he feeds off them to stay functioning feels natural that he views most people if not all as servants and a meal. He reveals what they all mean to him; an ends to a mean. Upon accomplishing his goal, he disposes of them just like any other servant or meal. When he reached the palace and no longer needed the ground troops because his Schutzstaffel destroying the palace was more important; he absorbed them. When he digests the soul king and steals Ichigo's reiatsu and no longer needs guardians, he disposes of them. He planned to merge the worlds together to become the reality he wants and will dispose almost everyone just to achieve it. He does not care nor view people as anything less than a means to an end.

Its def Quilge. Hence his immense intel, holding down hueco mundo, and being tasked to battle Ichigo

@@detectiveharris8772 I don't think it's Quilge. I think he was chosen based off his jail ability alone. Ichigo would overpower most of them and they just needed to detain him so he would go to the royal palace.
All Quilge was tasked to do is essentially raise hell until Ichigo arrived.

I think people take "my children" and "my blood" too strictly. I'm pretty sure the people that became Quincy were not exactly his offspring but are the descendants of the people that used to touch him to heal themselves when he was a blind, mute, deaf baby. Them and what was left over from the Sternritter that survived the first war. Their children. If they took scripts and his blood then, yeah his blood would be in the veins of some high born Quincy...
But again they haven't even explained where the Quincy have been this whole time. It wasn't that Castle because we saw forests and big houses in the country surrounded by trees and 💩.

"time runs out".... They never explained what that meant. Why were they on a timer so strict that Yuha had to follow it?

Juha Bach's intent was to render the difference between life and death irrelevant, so perhaps he didn't see killing his subordinates as having any lasting consequence. And Auswahlen was just a matter of taking back his own power, which he merely loaned to his "children," when it became strategically advantageous. I think this would have squared with his perspective.

Being a substitute shinigami makes Ichigo an auxiliary of the Gotei 13

I disagree. Yhwach sees every Quincy as pawns for his goal - breaking the cycle of life and death.
