    My wife bought one of these late last year. Its an absolute hoot to drive on a tight, twisty road. Real world fuel economy is about 4.5L/100kms, mix urban and highway (with very steep hills). Back seat room is just ridiculous, and is something i still cant get over! You can also get a false boot floor that makes the load space flat with the back seats down. 100% the best 'hybrid' hot hatch on the used market.

      @johncollins1969 battery never gets depleted. The little 3 cylinder kicks in to charge it whenever you have your foot in it - and it will raise the rpm depending how much drain the little battery is experiencing.

    Luckly in New Zealand, getting a grey import is actually normal. Most cars that come into the country are grey imports. Just about all car dealers, including brand dealerships are licenced importers. But for some reason, most of the imports they sell, they leave the cars with their original infotainment system, which is in Japanese. Imports are popular here as they are cheaper than an NZ New car and offer a wide range of options. Even European cars get imported from Japan.

    Great review Adam 👏
    I’ve been waiting for this and I did mention it to you guys a month or 2 ago, I even offered you mine as a test car but I’m in Brissy 😜
    I’ve got the “Nismo S model” (They are 30% faster than a standard model Nismo Note)
    Very quick !! I have the same as the one u just tested but in Gunmetal Grey (same colour as the R35 GTR, with the Nismo Recaro seats that are as comfortable on a short trip as a long trip and I’m 109kg. (Recaro seats are made in conjunction with the German Chiropractic Association) that’s why they are the worlds best seats!
    Your totally right, these are the future!
    I’ve gone from Gtr skylines,diesel vans, AMG Mercedes, Lexus isf (still have it) as well as many other imports to daily driving a Nismo note S.
    For $50-$60 I’m getting 1,100-1.200 klms per tank and not always driving it on the speed limit. I’ll get 1,300 on a highway run.
    Amazing cars jam packed with tech.
    I’ve got HKS Coilovers, aftermarket sway bars, carbon front splitter rolling on standard Nismo rims wrapped in Bridgestone adrenaline Re003 sticky tyres and I live on top of a mountain so u can imagine the fun im having as a daily driver!
    Quiet, reliable, uses no fuel with that much torque.
    Like you said ,someone F**ked up at Nissan and forgot to put these on the list at Nissan Australia.
    I was actually at the 20th Nismo festival at Mt Fuji speedway in 2017 when they launched the Nismo Note along with the Nismo Leaf, R35 GTR and the Nismo Duke.
    When I arrived back to Australia after that trip I actually called Nissan Australia and asked why they didn’t release the Nismo Note here and I was told “Australia isn’t ready for these yet”?
    I’m taking mine to Lakeside for a track day soon, will let you know the lap times I get out if it.
    Why wouldn’t you want one???
    Puts a smile on my face every time I drive it .
    Thanks Re-Driven ❤

      These cars are great. I have a Nismo Limited Edition Black Model. There were 100 made I believe. Very expensive and hard to find in Japan. Need the optional Recaro seats to complete a perfect combination. The Recaro optional seats are VERY expensive in Japan. I have had a Nismo since 2017, and my average fuel use is 20 km. / liter. Quick and economical. I use Dunlop 050 performance tyres, 205/55 x 16 tyres, and the grip is exceptional , especially in the wet. I also have an AUTECH 4WD with all optional extras. A real blast on the Alpine ski roads of NZ. Average for 5000km with a long roofbox,
      was 15 km per liter. Very good cars. The S models I have imported get sold in minutes of being advertised.

    I bought the newer model early this year, the Aura Note Nismo, set me back $45k, don't regret it at all. By far the best hatch I've ever driven, drives and looks much better than a corolla.
    I did speak with a Nissan executive at the roadshow last year and I asked him about the note, he said they were very close to bring this model in 2017 but have found that it wasn't feasible and Australia wasn't the market for it either. But he did admit that newer Aura Note Nismo would probably be feasible in the current market but Nissan HQ don't see the reason to sell these cars outside of Japan.

    Up until the most recent models, It basically has the same motor as the 2013-2022 Nissan Leaf, but only around a 1.8 kWh battery mounted under the front seats and smaller generator motor. Both the battery and motor can combine to power the main drive motor, or just the battery. The battery is charged by the 1.2L motor and from the main drive motor when slowing down and getting regen. It is a pity that they don't put about an 8 kWh battery in it and a plug so show trips could be all electric.
    From about $26K and up, it's EV cousin the 2018 or newer used Nissan Leaf can be purchased, it has local support, and can do around 200-250 Km real world range on a charge. For around $40K, there is also the BYD Dolphin, MG4, and GWM Ora EVs available with 300+ Km.

    Completely agree with the need of less powerful, more affordable and preferably lighter hot hatches. I have a Hyundai i30n performance and I’m going to sell it because I can’t really drive it fast anywhere a part from a race track. I'm currently driving a Fiesta ST and while it's fun and very quick I've always wanted an EV and this just ticks all the boxes, it's affordable, not that more expensive than my Fiesta. Unlike the leaf it's not range limited or double the price plus would be faster and more fun and while I love Hondas, this looks quite good for a Nissan. General rule, buy the absolute newest, low km version you can find. If you don't want sporty but want luxury, get the Autech version - the seats alone are so nice. Plus...early 1300km range and a refill might cost you $80 or so. That is nuts!
    It also looks like Nissan Australia have dumped plans to bring in the current model, which means super low km versions of the current body style are available for import and come with the Nissan ProPilot adaptive cruise control system.
    I've yelled at Nissan a few times now to bring this in, along with the Kicks, Serena, Elgrand and a few other cars as low volume specials, but they seem determined to shoot themselves in the foot. If they can source production from Thailand in RHD, then it'll make for a more compelling business case as they'll sell bucketloads, especially in a fuel sensitive market.

In Europe we have the X-trail (Rogue) and Qashqai (Rogue Sport) with e-power and they were so good, for SUV. But they stopped putting anything that's not SUV except Micra and Leaf (and some GT-Rs but they seem more like just a show car than something they sell). Would've been so nice to have that in the Pulsar as well but sadly no...... hope they do make one global version before they give up on ICE completely

  • @Siberius-
    @Siberius- Před 4 měsíci +1

    I had an incorrect understanding of what this car is the first time I watched this. There's a lot more petrol going on here than I thought there would be. The maths just doesn't work out. Nissan themselves even mislead people, and the UK banned their tv ads for it.
    0:55 - "It's not connected to the wheels, that engine acts purely as a generator for the battery pack"
    10:38 - Fast EV acceleration, then very shortly after the petrol engine takes over to perform what is being requested of the car. Don't know how I didn't pay attention to that the first time lol.
    The diagram Nissan provided is wrong. The engine can bypass the battery, and take a more direct path to the wheels when needed. They later changed the diagram to match reality.
    Also there is always an engine running in the background, and it's a 3 cylinder so it's unstable and rocks more than an even cylinder engine.
    It's like a conventional full-hybrid (non-plug-in) but less fuel efficient.
    So all that's really being said when he says it's just like an EV, like at 11:10, is the torque, I think. That instant acceleration (before the engine kicks in, since the battery is small and needs to stay charged). Also other stuff that conventional hybrids have.

    • @chunkybeats79
      @chunkybeats79 Před 3 měsíci

      Out if all the hybrids this is most closest to driving an EV until you get to certain speed. But that instant torque is addictive I know because I own one (non nismo)

    • @Siberius-
      @Siberius- Před 3 měsíci

      @@chunkybeats79 - 11:05 - a PARTIAL* EV experience lol.
      But yea aside from me being mislead by Nissan marketing and this video, it does primarily have that EV-torque off the go (unlike full hybrids), which is pretty sick. Though it will cost ya more in fuel to launch off like that, and more wear on the tyres. At least with full EVs, it's not fuel (though hopefully one can charge NOT via some certain fast chargers, because they're like, the same price as fuel, which is crazy).
      Apparently full hybrids don't use as much fuel as this thing though, so it's a trade-off. But then, no hybrid is cheaper in the long-run compared to a regular internal combustion engine car, because the savings on fuel just take far too long to accumulate due to how much more expensive the purchase price is for Hybrids.

    The e-power system of Nissan is not available in the USA. It is available in Mexico. The base idea is great. The model I have an interest in is the Nissan Kicks e-power. I am a US citizen and a permanent resident of Mexico.
    The Nissan Kicks in Mexico has only a 2 KwH battery and no plug-in. I figure it can go about 7 Km on battery alone. A larger battery and charging from home electricity option would convert my interest into a sale. This seems to me to be a less complex hybrid.
    The local Nissan dealer in Mexico sells both the Kicks and the X-Trail models as e-power. In the USA, X-Trail is known as Rogue.

      AFAIK all the ones in Australia are e-Power hybrid, which means they’re either the 80kw base version or the 100kw S version. Neither has CVT or chain drive 😀 the diff is driven off the electric motor via gears.
