A tremendous amount of information covered in this video. Extremely helpful. For some of us slow learners it would be nice to actually see it drawn out. But still this is great.

How did you find the measure of angle BAE in the convex trefoil to find point F at the intersection with the vertical line? 8:20

Can you recommend a book on creating Gothic tracery?
I have two books from the 1800s, plus a library of "sacred" geometric instruction/patterns, etc.
No circular Gothic tracery (if that's even the correct term).
    ?
Thank you kindly for any info. ;)

How did you create the straight line and point E in the 1st Convex Trefoil? What angle should it be?

    • @DarkMoonDroid
      @DarkMoonDroid Před 4 lety

If you have already drawn the circles and lines as shown, the angle is exactly half of the angle between points A and B which is 30d - so, 15d.

@@DarkMoonDroid I mean the line from point D to create point E at 8:24.
If that is what you described then I didn't quite understand.

      Hi.
Sorry so late. I didn't get a notification.
It's really hard for me to see the letters on my screen so I am not sure I know which point is E, but I think it's the one at the center of the smaller arc in the lower left. Is that right?
The line is drawn between the intersection of the large bottom arc and left arc and the center point of the original circle - which is now gone.
I'll link you to some good instructions on another video. The point that determines the first small circle inside the larger triangle is built from the inside out, instead of from the outside in. But he tells how to determine what kind of circle you want at the 10:07 mark. I'll put a time stamp on that video for you.
      Good luck!
      🍀🤞

Okay! So, what I did was work it all backwards, starting with the proportion that I wanted and then made note of the angle. It is between 19.3 and 19.4. I would go with 19.4. This is if you draw your circles out to be tangent (pink line) to the outer arcs of the triangle. This way, the circles cross each other ever so slightly _in the center,_ which is irrelevant, and not against the outer arcs of the triangle, which would make a mess. Of course, this is the same at any scale.
      Try it out!

For the constructions we used GeoGebra

You can also use sketchUp, but it doesn't act like actual compass and straight edge, so it's good to have both.
