I tested this bike light and it had an interesting behavior of overheating after a certain amount of time. However, this is probably not the most realistic use case because if it were mounted on a bike, you would have a lot of wind blowing on it at whatever speed you are riding. This effectively cools it which would prevent it from overheating.
In the real world, the usage times might vary depending on the ambient temperature and how fast you ride. At night and riding at reasonable speeds, you probably could run the light at 2000 lumens for the duration of your ride, perhaps 30 to 60 minutes long.

Imo a 800+ lumen bike light is useless for road use unless you have a low beam cutoff pattern.
You have to keep either turning down your light or covering it to prevent oncoming road users being blinded, it doesn’t take much light to cause this when it’s pointed directly into your eyes.
There are plenty of manufacturers doing this now, _Lupine Lights_ produces lights which have low and high beam and they’re actually useable on the road, unlike basically everything else on the market.
You can also integrate their E-bike lights directly into your battery so that you never have to remove it from your bike and it’s always charged.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Would pointing it toward the ground make it a low beam only light?

@@BeatTheBushDIY No, you need a hard cut off line where no light is being shone up towards other drivers eyes.
You would need to point it so low that it would be mostly useless
