“Filling in every inch of space possible, which is just the sort of thing I would do” lol. I love this guy.
Hello Vincent, I am looking forward to see the TCL C93 (also known as C935) Mini LED TV review and comparisons with the TCL C83, sony and samsung similar TVs. Thaks for your good reviews and thanks for Surfshark for thier support .
Talk about an in-depth review, good stuff Vincent.
Hi Vincent, thankyou for your honest and fair review of the tcl C83. The poor QC control is a let down in regards to the dse. It stands to reason that we will see similar results on the C935. Can you share any updates on an upcoming C935 review ? E.g. are you doing a review of the c935 and if you are when are we likely to see it ?
Damn. Just found this channel today while searching for TCL tv review. Just 5 minutes of your video, reaffirm my decision to buy this TV although I don’t understand fully what youre talking about but it sounds like this TV is the bomb
Thank you for this very detailed and very helpful review, waiting for your review of the TCL c935 please, thank you.
Was waiting for this review for a very long time!!! Thank you!!
My plasma tv does an incredible job with black levels and contrast, I hope it never dies
Hello Vincent ? Thank you for the video 🙂 I wish you will do another video "best settings for PS5 on this TV" and HDR calibration with tone mapping ON as you recommend it for gaming...
Thank you very much for this detailed review. This is how a TV review should be done.
Hopefully you can review a C93 soon. It would be nice to see how much better it is than the C83.
Even if it doesn't surpass your current TV or your next choice of purchase, it is pushing lower end picture quality forward for everyone. Design of the TV is very finished and clean looking, and the sound will definately be worthy of choosing it over another comparable product. VA is still excellent and there is specific usage case of LED technology such as retro gaming. Hopefully they iron out those chipset issue in FW update pushing it as far as it will go.
Yeah, this isn't really "lower end". This is firmly above mid tier into high end. Just probably not creme de la creme. I'd say lower end is a cheap Insignia, Sceptre, Westinghouse....
Don't count entry level worthy of discussion unless they're admirably good. TV $500 $1000 cheaper than something released two years ago, guess I should have specified enthusiast
As someone who plays a lot of old games I wish it was easier to get a straight answer about new TV's function with older inputs and devices.
I don't really see people trying something line an Nintendo console on it for example - which would be a good baseline for a lot of potential problems.
If I am playing a lot of old stuff if new TV's don't play nice with it it is something I really do need to know - but to often there is this assumption that "gamers" just play Call of Duty "current year" and that is it - which isn't very helpful when you are playing things from the 1980's and 1990's very often like I do. let alone modern indy titles that behave in a lot of similar ways to Classic and vintage gaming too.
Tried to use an XBOX 360 and also XBOX / PS3 on the LG CX and the result was less than desirable, however on the 3440x1440 MX34VQ it looked amazing especially with sharpness and edge enhancement cranked. Considering the PPI and sub 1080p scaling this is still a valid comparison nor would I commonly suggest ULTRAWIDE unless it was desirable, but it both featured a VA panel and worked excellent on older stuff just for reference. Guess to truly use the LG CX or onward for comparative console and have it properly enhance your experience it is going to require a FRAMEMIESTER or similar upscaler on the front end thus utilize Super Resolution and other various AI GEN 3 processing capability to it's fullest potential. See, never hear mentioned require PC Mode for lowest response time in any situation due to disabled feature speed optimization. Would put the MX34VQ a solid notch above the ALIENWARE QD-OLED ULTRAWIDE for this reason, which has very little customization available. Difference is quite staggering and could make or break experience. Even decade old television produce consistent result

Yes I have heard some strange reports about OLED's and older Machines - maybe I need to pester Digital Foundary about this issue - I think Black Frames helps with the smearing issues a bit.
But I recall some early LCD's didn't play nicely with older machines either. such as resulting in a very dark image for example.
I know some people have said they got good results using upscaling in TV mode rather than game mode on some sets.
TCL c935 review pleeeease, right now there is a very good deal here in a local store and I can't wait for your excellent detail review to come out for the c935, great specs for the price, and thank you for this very informative video.
I just bought the 55 inch c835 for my bedroom for $1150 on sale. Really looking forward to receiving it! Looks like a great value TV.
Thank you for the review.
Please do a review for the C935 im really into it
Amazingly and uncommonly in depth review. Wonderful, thank you and please keep it up!
According to miniled research articles, if you have a super high native contrast, you can have the same perceivable contrast with much less dimming zones compared to another tv with low native contrast but very high amount of dimming zones. Hence why this TCL may seemingly have a better local dimming algorithm compared to the other Samsung and Sony tvs owing to the high native contrast- and remember, this TCL miniled is only entry level with around 300 local dimming zones. The flagship C93 has over 1000 local dimming zones on a 65 inch.
True, but the contrast itself doesn't matter as much as black levels. Usually these two go hand in hand, but nowadays you can get an IPS QD panel with quite poor black levels but with relatively high contrast ratio because of the powerful peak brightness and FALD system. VA panels have natural ability to block much more light as opposed to other LCD panel types, which results in less blooming.
Hey Vincent, will you post a comparison/review with the c93 series from TCL to see what their flagship has to offer in comparison?
i want a review of c935.. ..when? i want to buy it but there isn t any review online for this super mini led tv...why? its hw is superb in 65\75 inch ...i want to see a comparison with LG g2 , sony a95k and samsung s95b..
I think it's appalling that I keep hearing "after calibration" When you purchase a new TV, I don't expect to have to pay someone (if you can FIND someone) to correctly calibrate your TV. It should be correct out of the box. I appreciate some people like big red skin tone and sky so blue it hurts your eyes, but each TV should come with a defeat button that presents the picture "calibrated"
Note your calibrating to your rooms lighting that affects what you...Note Dolby Vision IQ automatically adjust for this.
Also not that they released an app that calibrates the tv for you. It does a decent job at it too.
@@TheUAProdigy And how it's supposed to calibrate anything? Without the specialized hardware you might as well "calibrate" your TV by the eye.
What is even more appalling is the fact that even the "factory calibrated" monitors have BS colors and white balance quite often...
Tell me you are TV casual without telling you are a TV casual. A PROPER calibration requires the TV to be calibrated to YOUR TV space, so that is the lighting from the ceiling lights, any sunlight and the various shadows around your space. A TV cannot be properly calibrated out of the box, there's the generic picture settings where manufacturers attempt to but for it to be done properly and right, you need a technician to come to your house. Know what you're saying before making such an arrogant comment
I remember when you had 500 subs good job Bro
Hi Mr. Vincent, some people experiencing Coil Whine in this TCL C835 when setting it in Local Dimming at High and black cover the entire screen.
And they said it feel annoying because it's noticeable.
Wonder to know why it happen on this TCL C835.. Can you explain it?
I currently own a LG B7 OLED that has seen some battle, and some small but noticable burn ins, and I'm thinking on replacing it, and I was thinking about this TV, because I've been told the 825 version was quite up there against OLED tvs. Should I get this TV so I get something better than what I own now or should I look elsewhere, without breaking the bank?
Can you please do a comparison between the new TCL C935 and Samsung QN90A, that will be interesting, I want to buy a new TV and these two TVs are in my list.
Late to the party but I've just got one of these units. For the life of me, I can't seem to get freesynce(gsync) to work correctly on my PC via an rtx 3080. I've activated VRR in the TV settings and turned it on via Nvidia control panel but it doesn't seem to activate in the same way that it does via console. Does anyone have any advice?
EDIT: I got it to work by changing picture settings back to default in the resolution tab in the Nvidia control panel.
I have the TCL R646, will it be that one day I get the update where they put the Gamebar? and improve the software even more? because the R646 has neither
a year that went on sale and it can be said that it is still recent!!!
was the last video the review of the Panasonic LZ2000 or will there be another dedicated video? Are you also going to review the step down LZ1000 which might be the sweet spot regarding price and performance?
Is there an optimal settings guide for the c835 yet?
Any chance they will fix 444 @ 4k/120hz in a future firmware update? I notice if I set my 55c835 to 60hz pc mode that it displays properly via a test pattern but if I even go to 61hz it is blurry/messy ;(
Really?? I'm look forward to buy this TV for my pc gaming I would like to run it on 4k 120hz .. but what you say here make me nervous 🥲
@@thelastbanana0678 Honestly dont let it worry you, for real content everything looks great, only it test patterns can you notice any weirdness because of 422. I've had the tv now for about 5 months and very happy with the picture quality using it with my pc :) hdr is epic :D
@@HexedHavoc thanks for your reply I already bought Samsung qn90 55 inch it's way much better and have many features make it amazing for gaming and movie ,, I'm not big fan for watching movies but as I know from many reviews in CZcams they say it can run 144hz in 4k Very smooth and have wonderful images the price is little bit higher the C835 but it's worth.. can't wait to receive it 😄😄
Did any update resolve the chroma 444 subsampling issue? Are you able to run the display at 120hz with a PC?
Hi Vincent!
What do you think, which tv is the better choice for movies the Hisense UH8 or TCL C832?
You didn't show ms speed in 4k@120Hz in gamemode? When will this firmware fix for 144Hz at 4k via HDMI 2.1 coming? And are you going to test it when it comes? I can't recommend this TV to a friend who is interested until then.
Hi Vincent, sorry to ressurect an older video, but I have noticed when using VRR from PS5 to this TV, I get colour temperature fluctuations in game. I noticed it first with Hogwarts Legacy and since the recent Gran Turismo 7 update, the same when in that game. Any insight as to what might cause an effect such as this?
Awesome content man. Not that interedted in the content, but I apreciate the depth.
I looked up the specs on this C835 and they are really quite impressive. Hopefully in the world of actual use this will be a incredible tv that can rival or surpass Sony and Samsung for value and features.
@@BigDaddy-666 No mention of a release date on this model...you have anything to share regarding this?
Good to see these brands giving great options in the lower market!
But only in the Eastern Hemisphere?
@@Psilobite JB HiFi has these for sale in Australia, 75" is AUS $3195, 65" is AUS $2395, 55" AUS $1595

Why tcl leaving c935 last to release for reviewers. The 935 has 1080/1920 dimming zones vs 835 fewer 300 odd dimming zones
thanks Vincent, please review the TCL C93 next :)
or 65x925 pro last year
tell me please, tcl c831 is it the same TV as c835? Or in fact it may be a completely different panel?
thank you for the review. Why is the r635(usa version) way cheaper then the c835 european version. Both are mini led. Its almost half the price. Is there a big differnce between the two?
I still don't understand one thing. 650 lines corresponds to 650 pixel resolution or its a different approach/real resolution?
I've had this tv for a year now, damn it goes alright for a mini led TV. I bought the 75 inch in aus for 2.5kaud. A bit steep but it's a solid tv.
I still have my samsung ru8000 82 inch, the parents have that now... will get an oled 75 inch next time round just waiting for tech to develop so TV's like the s95 become affordable.
If your looking for a decent mid range reliable tv then tcl has you covered with the c835..
After back and forward dialogue with your colleague E.Beeckmans we came to the same conclusion and for 899 euro for the 55 inch (special launch price) it was a real bargain. Two happy customers are already enjoying the amazing PQ and deep blacks for a more than affordable price. 😉
Just get the Xiaomi P1 for 400€!!! It's amazing!!!
@@Serandi1987 Stop feeding the CCP ... both are Chinese brands
In Hungary the TCL 65C835 and the LG 65QNED863QA basically has the same price. Between theese two, what would you recommend and why? (I owned an OLED TV, and don't want another because of the burn in and low brightness. I had Samsung QLED q85a and did not like any part of it.)
Vincent... great content as usual. Would you recommend the TCL C835k over the SonyX90J? I'm on the look for a 65in TV under £1200 but am having a hard time choosing the right one. Thanks in advance
Vincent doesn’t answer every question. Seems that this tcl is a better bang for the buck
If u want better black, higher brightness,Anti reflection coating and wider viewing angle also bang for the buck Pick TCL
If u want better upscaling and motion go for Sony X90K
After the update drops itd be great to see if 444 is possible at 4k 120.
Hey Vincent, would you be able to use your contacts at TCL to enquire as to why the 75" C83 isn't going to be available in the UK?
And perhaps, push them to do so?
It's the perfect TV for me but I need that 75" size so I'm really disappointed it won't be available!
Same here in South Africa, they haven't even launched the sony x90k to date, so we stuck with old lg c1 tvs and over priced Samsung neo qled tvs
Thanks for covering this TV. I've been dying to ditch my deceptively advertised X900H for almost 2 years now, but (thanks solely to Sony) I now have trust issues spending a ton of money on a TV. This is one of the TVs on my mini-LED short list, along with the upcoming Hisense U8H and the new LG mini-LED offerings for 2022. As an OLED-avoiding dark room gamer who is sensitive to blooming, it's been an uphill battle. This gives me hope. Cheers!
Go find a 2016 Z9D!
I stuck with mine, until about 2 weeks ago when the mainboard shat itself, luckily(maybe), I had insurance on it, store was going to fix it until they found out the mainboard is $480ish USD, I'm in AU so that's near $900+labour, not worth it so I got $1090 store credit, no expiry so I'm reviewing as many options as I can, I was looking at the X90K, but since I've seen this TCL for only a few 100 dollars more I am intrigued to move away from sony. I game on my PS5 so this may be the option for me, add I use my old PC too, I think I'm sold so far, waiting for boxing day sales probably.
@@dallasgrant man you give me hope lmao my TCL packed up and Costco sending someone to fix I'm.hoping it's unfixable so I can get my cash I paid for and go buy a new TV but knowing my luck 😂😂😂
@@lilnash7 Unless it's an easy fix I don't think they like to repair TV's, anything really, it's probably cheaper to pay out or store credit etc. Good luck.
I am looking to replace my (now dead)X900H, I was just going to go for the new X90K, but your review of this TV was a head turner, I really want to like sony, I do, but having been let down by the X900H I was reluctant, this TV looks great spec wise, I might see if I can view one in store, a lot of the tech stuff went over my head, what didn't though were the features offered by the TV and it's closeness to high end TV(high in my price range anyway), thanks for the review, very informative.
Is VRR flicker exclusive to HDMI interface or do monitors with Display Port also have it?
Samsung g7 :D
Waiting for your review of TCL C935
Hello, just wanted to confirm, so does this mean the tv can actually play true 4k@120hz ? or is it "fake" 4K@120hz like the Sony Bravia X85K? I read that the Sony X90K does truly support 4k@120hz but not X85K due to its chipset. Just wanted to make sure if the C835 plays 4K@120hz like X85K, or X90K?
I heard that it can run 4k on 60 Hz for pc if you go more that quality of pictures get more blurry
Awesome video. PLZ dude, Could you do a video or text in your site adjusting picture settings of TCL 835?
@HDTVTest where did you post your settings??? You used to do that with all tvs!
How is the picture accuracy WITHOUT professional calibration? Does it come close to Sony or Panasonic?
Hello can you tell me what you suggest for movies the tcl 65c835 or sony 65x95j because here in Greece has almost the same price. Thank you and keep the great job.
I just ordered the 65 inch miniled from TCL. Because of the huge screen im worried 1080p content will look pixelated? My last tv was a Samsung plasma 59inch (2012/1080p tv) and looked decent image, but this is a step bigger...so not sure TCL uses upscaling for 1080p content?
I want to know Which one should I buy tcl c835 or u8h to play ps5
This TV has 4k 120hz half resolution on hdr? And i don't get it VRR on works the local dimming or not?
Hi there, great video, subscribed. I recently purchased this tv and I’m having a certain issue that I can’t figure out, can I ask for your advice please? I can’t get my tv to run in 24hz for movies on Netflix and Blu-ray. I use it with the Xbox series X and have “allow 24hz” checked in the Xbox settings, but it will only play movies at 60hz on Netflix or on disc which causes judder. I see in your video that there’s a section that shows your unit running in 24hz bit I can’t get it to run 24hz on mine. Any advice will be much appreciated. Cheers.
Where do we get the DDC file for calibration? and how to engage Low frame rate compensation? I notice a lot of judder any tips to reduce it? Apart from that the TV is amazing.
Any ETA on the C935 review date?
Vincent, you mentioned the Native Contrast is 7,500:1. But what about the Contrast with Local Dimming set to High on this TCL 8-series ? I know Samsung hits almost 20,000: 1 with local dimming to High.
Did you find out?
@@councilofflorence4896 No never did. At this point, I moved on from this TV. The reviews were not good.
I just bought a new gaming pc, with a 4080. I am after a 4k tv @ 120hz (120fps). My budget is really tight right now, so the max I could pay is about $1300 AUD.
I currently have an old Sony thats 1080p @60hz. I just wanna experience high frame rate and 4k.
Would this be a good purchase?
good morning ..... I subscribed to your channel .... I saw your review on tcl. 835 and I was very satisfied .... you stimulated my curiosity to buy this TV .... I would like to take the 65 inch .... is it a good buy ?? do you recommend it? .... thank you very much and good job

Hello, thanks for this video. I bought a Hisense VA U8QF. But I return it because horrible motion clarity with ps5. Impossible to watch a movie in 24fps without motion clarity activated. The motion blur is just horrible. And the black smearing are trully horrible. What about this TCL? What about fluidity in games, what about black smearing? Thanks
Sony x90k vs samsung qn90a vs Tcl c835 which one to go if i get all three 55inch tv for same price??????????
I'm unsure which mini led TV to go for on black Friday, will you make a video?
Question - Does the TCL C835 support Dolby Vision at 120hz?
Guys, I have a C1, could you tell me the best settings to use with PS5 ?? And the best settings for Netflix ?? May I use the same PS5 settings, on Netflix ?? I ask it, cause I was watching Netflix with the same PS5 configurations, and I find it amazing
Heard the 55inch models do a whining sound when displaying black images, is that true?
Hello, nice video. I am wondering what's the difference between the TCL 8-series or 6-series and TCL C835 or C635. Are they the same?
R655 usa, C835 rest of the world
Torn between this tv and N95B. Which one would be the better choice?
Hi all. I think this is the only review on CZcams which mention that this TV got Low Frame Compensation which you must have for VRR this days if you prefer to choose quality instead of performance on console games for smooth picture. You just didn't cover how this TV handle motion or is there any ghosting of dark fast moving objects on screen. But overall your reviews are very professional. Now I'm swap my Bravia x90f on this c835. Advice please.
Great review! perhaps you know if the C835 is euqivlanet to C831 ? I am based in NL where only the C831 is available
yes
I wouldn't mind seeing more reviews of budget TVs. Maybe a review of the Hisense U7H?
Please help me, i bought the TCL 55" C835 to play Callofduty mw3 on my Ps5 console, cant get anything right, i get a washed picture, input lag and overall a headache and cant find any settings to try out. Please please help me. As of now i have everything hooked up following: 2.1 120hz hdmi, vrr ON, ALLM on, Game master mode ON, HGIG ON, and on my ps5 i have it all set to automatic, and performance mode, still the picture is lagging, its washed white:ish, bright and movement wich makes me almost sick.
Anything or any tips would be so appriciated, love
Thanks for the review! Too bad it doesn't do Chroma 4:4:4 at 4K and 120Hz.
Btw, can you please recommend a TV like this, that could be perfect as a PC monitor? 50-50" maximum. Thanks!
Mini LED impressed me greatly in the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro, both of which I bought for other reasons. I can see it competing with OLED, definitely. Plus, no pulse-width modulation! No flicker!
i’ve had the opposite experience. i find the blooming on my ipad pro so annoying that i can’t see myself even considering a tv that uses mini LED
I hate blooming.
OLED > Mini LED LCD.
@@rollinburket defective unit. Your iPad Pro is supposed to have nearly absolute zero measurable blooming. You can measure the amount of blooming on each unit, stock iPads should have nowhere remotely near enough blooming to even be perceptible to the human eye
These tcl are not cheap... Check and you'll see they are in the same price range as LG b1 oleds... Oled picture is soooo much better and natural than any LCD
I hate burn in, MINI LED > overhyped OLED that can't even do true HDR because the screen is too dim
I have recently purchased a 2022 TCL C635 QLED. Playing ESO with the HGIG on with the HDR settings as you've stated in previous videos, some parts of the game looks like a reflective surface it's so bright. Is there other settings I need to change?
Currently using DTM and its all good. I would like a setting I don't have to change for every game, if that's DTM, that's fine.
would you recommend the c635. i was thinking of buying it too
Can you make a vid explaining what is the best tv for each console gaming and rating them
I am unable to go to game bar how to find it I know about game master but not able to see game bar.. can u help in this..
Is this model available in the US? If so under what number.
Your videos are so informative and very helpful, I have a LG C1 oled, and I noticed some thing when playing my PS5 in VRR, It seems like the image becomes a bit brighter, and I noticed that I lose perfect blacks it almost seems as if I was on a LCD especially when loading into the game and seeing the logos play out, so I just have vrr off. Have you ever noticed that or has anybody els have this same issue? if so is there a fix? I’d love do use Vrr with out sacrificing image quality. I mean I have an oled for a reason right haha.
From what I know of the issue, it probably can't be fixed. Very sudden framerate change make the backlight power fluctuate, making the screen flicker. Mostly a VA issue but OLED are affected to a certain extent, this mostly happen with very heavy stuttering. You may not see it during loading, but your framerate may go from 5 to 110 repeatedly and that's what you see. If it happens ingame, try switching graphic preset if possible: a different preset may have less stutters and dips, even if the fps is lower or higher. Another idea could be to use a faster SSD to run the game from, but I don't think it'll be any better.
Can you please compare tcl c385 with hisense u8h au . Which one is best to buy
Is the flagship c93 model going to be available in the UK?
Does it completely fail to do 4:4:4 chroma? US models apparently need to be set to a Game mode to enable it.
FIRST, LIKE UR CHANNEL , you help me choose know a lot about TVs and monitors! :)
how is this compared to LG OLED G2 which you would recommend
You gotta test the 75PML9636.
The 65” can do 1500 nit and that one already makes you turn your head away when cams pan over the sun.
Test the 75” with a shooter on your console, I’d like to see your reaction to a 2000 nit flash bang. 😅
Which is better this or the hisense u8h..

Hey I was wondering where and how I can find the best settings for my C835 gaming, movies and SDR
This TV is impossible to find unless it only just came out yesterday?
For us in the US this is the R655 with Roku OS instead of Google OS. I'm using the 85" with 448 zones. Looks very good for daytime viewing, but obviously not as good as my LG C1 for movies. That said, high APL scenes do look great.
When are you getting c935 for testing Vincent
