Thanks never knew rolling existed. I will probably never use this but I am glad for the tutorial.
My 2017 STI is about .25" lower on the driver rear than the passenger rear, stock suspension. The struts and suspension are fine. It's just lower there. IDK why.
When I went to 18x9.5 +35 with 255/40/18 I got pretty bad rubbing over big bumps under acceleration on the driver side rear. I'm going to roll it tonight hopefully
Remember that with stock suspension the spring rate is lower than aftermarket springs or coilovers which means there is more travel over hard bumps. That means you're more likely to rub. As for the rear being slightly lower than others.. that's definitely concerning. Definitely make sure there's no obvious reasons for that to occur (uneven pavement, extra weight in your trunk, etc).. you might want to replace the one strut
Nice video man. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is data on how hot to get the paint to prevent cracking but not overheat the paint and cause issues. I think the use of an infrared thermometer makes this less of a guesswork thing.
Also I noticed on ours when I installed 25mm spacers on the stock 18x8.5 wheels with wider 255/40R18 Michelin's the only part of the rear fender that gets caught is the part where the rear quarter panel gets narrow (where it meets the door). So like 10 o'clock when viewing the drivers side or conversely 2 o'clock viewed from passenger side.
Yeah, having a thermometer would actually be a great idea! Maybe that's something we can do in the future.
Also, that's interesting! Are you still on stock suspension? I think stock suspension compresses towards the door while aftermarket compresses a bit more linearly.
@@WRXGarage I am stock yes. It definitely moves forward as it moves up based on the contact point on both sides.
i just bought tires and rims. 265/35/18 tires and 18x9.5 plus 35 off set rims. will i have any turning issue with that setup? i have fortune coilovers as well so the shocks are not as big as the stock ones
You're issue won't be contacting the struts or the suspension components, it will be the tires rubbing on the fender-well. If you lower a decent amount you'll probably have to roll the fenders.
@@WRXGarage thanks so much man.
Hi ,I am using 18x9x35 , 245 -40 -18when high speed
Or road not flat the rear tire touch fender ,so I can rolling fender to soft problem ?( All factory setting)
Thank you!
Will 265/35/18 with a 18x9.5 (38 offset) work with stock suspension? No plans to lower the car. Another option I was thinking was 255/40.
Thanks man
Yes that is completely fine on stock suspension. 265/35 or 255/40
Put 4 grown adults (800 lbs) in the car and it might still rub the rear fenders when you go over a speed bump or big dip in the highway at speed.
Im in CT, having that issue can you help?
I live in NE, my WRX has TS-10’s as well. I have considered coil overs, lowering to eliminate wheel gap. But the roads, drive ways, entrances to parking lots, drive throughs, “main streets” are so bad I can’t risk it. I have an APR OEM ground effects kit, tuned, exhaust, Cobb intake, AOS, EGR delete, TGV delete... but the wheel gap is killing me. What can I do? Im going to get the J pipe put on and up graded intercooler. Is stock suspension good enough? Its a 2020 premium.
If you don't want to lower the car, the only other way to get rid of wheel gap is to consider 19" wheels!
Or air ride 💪
18 x 9.5 +30 on 255/35s and .8 inch lower than stock with front camber bolts. Do I need a fender roll and pull?
You might rub a tiny bit in the rear, but should be okay with that setup
@@WRXGarage okay that sounds good. Thank you for the fast reply!
Did you jack up the whole rear or can you do one side at a time?
You need to jack up the whole rear in order for the rotor/hub to rotate! Also, you'll need to put the ebrake down
I think we have the same wheels ( 18" x 9.5" +35mm ), but I have the Faction Fab F-SPec coilovers. I bought some 3mm spacers to match the factory offset at +38. what size tires should I get, I don't want to add any camber or roll my fenders but still be low.
Adding 3mm spacers would increase the offset to +32!! Remember, the lower the number the more agressive the offset.
Factory offset is actually +55 btw.
As for tires, I'd suggest 255/35. You should be fine lowering the car quite a bit without any issues with rubbing, as long as you don't use the spacers
I’m using 255 40 18, totally fine for daily but definitely rub when go fast into corner
with 245/40/18 18x9.5 +35 stock suspension will it work without any modification on the fenders?
Yes that's fine
Go into corner fast will definitely rub with this setting. Mines same as yours
What do u think about running 19x9.5 +38 with 265/35 tires on coilovers. Will it poke or run since its taller and cant lower the car compared to 18s. Thanks
With that spec you'd definitely have to roll the fenders a ton. Also, you won't be able to lower very much. Also, you'd have to get rear control arms to add camber in the rear and tophat adjustable coilovers for adding camber in the front. It's definitely possible, but my guess is you won't be able to lower more than an inch
How about a 255/35 19 tires? Thanks
Definitely easier, but youll def still need Control arms. remember that even a 255/35/19 will still have a larger overall diameter than a 265/35/18. There's some great websites that calculate and show you side by side diagrams of different setups
Thank u so much for your help.
If I purchase some esr sr08 255 35 18 18×10.5 would I have any issues if I'm planning to go lower springs but I'm also not planning to slammed it
255 on 10.5 is definitely going to stretch.. not very good performance or ride comfort with that setup. Likely to run as well unless you roll your fenders!
@@WRXGarage so you don't recommend me getting that wheel size?
Not unless you're getting overfenders!
What offset are the wheels?
@@WRXGarage +22
Yeah that's way too aggressive for stock fenders
