    This is such a welcome down-to-earth approach.
    So many nowadays seem to focus on limiters and stuff just... to make it louder.
    While in fact, it's about conscious decisions to be made.
    To put emphasis on those elements, you as the producer want to make stand out!

    Man wish I had this blog back in the day to visual what the first 50 pages of the LBL Forum was talking about. I feel like the first hundred pages of the Forum kept addressing this topic but as a newbie I could never in-vision it. This really gives you a visual on those pages. By the way who the hell is BLVD?

    Great tips for house music and etc… people need to understand an EDM mixdown is very genre specific.

    • @LeftCat
      @LeftCat Před rokem

      Yes. I see a lot of mixing tutorials from engineers that work with rock or pop, and their advice just doesn't work for a lot of electronic music. They tend to focus on tones of instruments or voice, and the final mix is much lower in LUFS and higher dynamic range.

    it's actually funny how usefull this was, I can use limiters, clippers, compressors, fancy stereo enhancers, mid-side dynamic eq 'n shit, but what really makes me sweat is still the balancing. People see it as so self evident that they usually don't make any tutorials on it.

    Why do you go for the sharp slope over the rounded one while clipping?

    • @PZWAS
      @PZWAS Před 10 měsíci

      Sharp slope (hard clipping) cuts off the tops. Rounded slope (soft clipping) cuts of and rounds the edges. This affects the way each one sounds.

    kick and sub need to be fighting with each other or kick and mid bass' ?

    • @connorstones4181
      @connorstones4181 Před 2 lety +3

      I think by 'fighting' he means one is winning...... like the kick is taking down the bass. But they shouldn't clash together tho either you heavily sidechain the bass or shorten the kick and smoothly sidechain the bass (imo)

  • @soundcore183
    @soundcore183 Před 2 lety

    Rather disappointed m/s saturation and harmonic distortion wasn't shown in some examples except on the clipper part. I know it is more an artistic choice like poking some elements in the mix. the content itself is awesome thumbs up - would like to hear some reference to hardwell too. I guess the main thing is focusing on the kick and leveling everything around. And with volume shaping / lfo tool this is finished of really quick (even the kick isn't right, it will still poke and sound good).
    The clip is mainly teasing some techniques but showing the real important and driving ones.

    Everyone want to be like The Prodigy😂😂😂. Ok. I use Distressor in the master channel and Limiter. Always compare with mix . This volume fit or not. Using balance in the mast channel not good idea,cuz you not hear, which sound high ,loud,or not. Actually, Different genres want different production level. This one is what you're doing. , but take some points from professionals Thx L.L Good Luck for everyone✌️💻🎛️

      I one case it is actually smart. Most ppl listning to your music are also using beats or air pods etc. So no need to mix your music on the highest grade IEM or speakers when ppl will not be listning with that to hear and apreciate all the small things you master.
