How To Assemble A Mainstay Side Shelf Desk

- First off, there is no sound to this assembly of a mainstay side shelf desk from Walmart. Just trying a new type of video, so let me know what you think. I call it the DIY ASMR video, lol.

My daughter bought this Mainstay side shelf student desk and wanted me to help her to put it together. I said "sure" so long as you do all the work and I can make a video of it! It was a lot of fun helping her assemble this mainstays writing desk.
The assembly of this Mainstay side shelf desk is easy and straightforward. It took my daughter about 30 minutes to assemble this mainstays desk.
To begin with, you want to open the box and layout all the pieces. The plastic sleeves over the components are labeled and correspond to the instructions. The instructions for this side shelf desk from Walmart are very good. This side storage desk mainstay was easy and quick to assemble.
Once you have the components laid out, next you need to check the parts list and make sure all the parts and hardware are present. Once you've done that, you're ready to start the assembly of the Mainstay side shelf desk from Walmart. This desk is slightly different from the mainstays parsons desk, so the assembly won't be the same.
I felt this walmart desk was a good value for the money and the walmart desk assembly instructions were good. So if you need a desk for a student, look into checking out the mainstay side storage desk at Wal-mart. Not sure if they have them at Sams Club or not, but you should be able to check out Sams website or simply order them on walmart.com.

Hi. Thanks for the helpful video. I’m considering buying this but I had a quick question. Is there a way to have the tension rods on the other side of the table? So that the shelving would be on the right rather than the left?
I don't think that is possible with this mainstay desk.

Your video was fantastic! However, in assembling of mine, both following my instructions and watching you, when it came to assembling the back x section, that x cross bar on the back, one arm sticks out way further than the hole on the leg and I can't seem to force it to screw it in. I've flipped the bar both ways, but unsure if you did something I didn't.
Any suggestions?
No, we didn't do anything different. I guess we got lucky. From what I'm hearing that X piece is finicky.
@@BlueCollarDIY I finally got it to go on, but it made the whole desk slightly more unstable than when it was off.
I don't mind it, and will work around it, but wanted to know your thoughts on the sturdiness of it.
@Moving Triangle I've heard other stories about that X piece having one leg longer than the other. It seems that there is a quality control issue with these X pieces.

Sometimes Walmart will take returns without a receipt. Worth a try!

step 5 is literally no help where are u putting the screw at how do u connect it

Be careful of direction before putting in. Once in hard to get out.
The 5 piece go in the wood at bottom. Then the nail will be going through the wood and metal piece. The little metal piece helps to reinforce that area. I guess to help prevent the wood from splitting

The cross? The piece between the legs?

The part I needed help with you went over so quickly and there's no sound so I know this video helped some people but yeah you should have been showing each step a little bit better

That's not good! You may have gotten a bad one. I'd exchange it at the Walmart you bought it at if you can't fix it.

Mine came with no instructions. I wish she or whoever is holding the phone could have kept it on each step a few seconds longer. In case people wanted to take screen shots, rather than seeing your daughter/gf/wife silently building it.
