  • Bolted joints loaded in shear are used to hold the wings onto the fuselage of everything from RVs to Cessna 150s to B-17s. Maintenance expert Mike Busch discusses how these shear joints are designed, how they fail, and how to prevent them from doing so. He also discusses the pros and cons of rivets vs. bolts.
