- Here is my review of the Arrow Video 4k version of the Lucio Fulci horor masterpiece The House by the Cemetery with comparisons to the Blue Underground 4k
Good on you for getting this Arrow edition early John - I have already pre-ordered it from my local seller. I have the Blue Underground 4K (+ Blu ray). But thanks for showing the loads more features on this release. Enjoy this copy for your already vast collection mate👍👍
Another cracking video, John 👌I watched my copy last night, and am delighted with the results. It was a semi-blind buy for me, insofar as I started watching it a month or so ago online - in anticipation of the UHD - but was enjoying it so much that I turned it off and held out for the imminent 4K! I watched Arrow 4K on a Sony A90J, the same as your new TV; a superb unit, that deserves its great reputation!
Like you say, the transfer is excellent: rich, saturated colours; nice detail courtesy of the fine layer of film grain; and, gorgeous shadow details set off with lots of onyx black. And, man alive, the array of extras is superb! This is surely is the most definitive release House by the Cemetery will ever have, and I hope Arrow treats us to some more classic Fulci on 4K!
So again, well done John - and I look forward to your next review!
(PS - Do you have the ability to take screen captures direct from the disc, and not photos of the TV? It'd make a huge difference, albeit I do like that you include screenshots.)
Thanks mate, yeah echo your thoughts on this movie, if I see a movie I might really enjoy on a great version I'll turn it off and grab the best version to complete the experience mate 👌👌thanks for sharing your views on this great release, sadly I don't have the capability of taking the screenshots straight from the disc 😔 got no disc drive in the laptop, I know you can get external ones but I'll have to make do with the phone for now, it gives a "representation" of what to expect but its gotta be taken with a grain of salt 🧂😁 cheers for your comment mate 🤩🤩👍👍
Hey John, sorry I've been away for a few weeks but I'm back now and have a few of your video's to catch upon. I really like the artwork on this one and the booklet is a nice touch. It;'s been a while since I last watched this, I'm going to have to revisit it again at some point.
Arrow uses the Blue Underground scan so it’ll look the same

Both companies are fine labels with their cult movie releases, & Blue Underground have put out some fine releases on 4K with some lesser movies adding to their catalogue but i"d have to go with the Arrow Video release as i"m a massive fan of their collectors editions, fine comparison video Sir.
Hi John, they are both good 4k versions of House By The Cemetery. I did receive Blood & Black Lace 4k & like you i was satisfied with the transfer.
Yeah apart from the soundtrack and covers they are pretty much the same Mark 🤔🤩 yeah Blood and black lace is amazing 👏 🤩🤩👍👍

I was tempted by the arrow release of HOUSE.
But I am more than happy with the 4k blue underground release.
The sound and picture quality on the blue underground release is amazing.
The pre cert VHS I had you could not see anything in the cellar.
I don't know the arrow release might be better than the blue underground release.
But for me I can't fault the 4k blue underground release.

Awesome video John. I like yourself have the Blue Underground 4K, but just couldn't resist picking up the Arrow 4K also. I love the new Artwork on the Arrow release and being a huge Fulci Fan, Favourite film being Zombie Flesh Eaters was always going to own it. I would love Arrow to do the same with Zombie Flesh Eaters, as they have done with City of The Living Dead and House by the Cemetary, Just like Arrow did with Dario Argento's movies so you could have all the Fulci movies in a line on the shelf.

Zombie Flesh Eaters can't be toppled as my favourite but the other ones move around on new watches! You should consider importing the Cauldron Films version of City of the Living Dead. It’s loaded with extras and a very good transfer.
I keep looking at it and then I think I bet Arrow would do it....thinking that way....they probably won't so I'm kind of on the fence about getting it at the moment! But it looks a cracking release Ben 🤔😁😁👌👌

Hi John, I got the original art version with that lovely red and black box art and poster. Disappointed with no atmos and you can definitely see the grass looking better outside in the arrow version so they definitely altered the colour saturation it seems.
Hi Steve, yeah if I didn't own the Blue Underground 4k I would have went Art Originale version 🤔👏👏 don't understand why they dropped the atmos track, Blue Underground also have a 5.1 surround option as well, strange one that....but the Arrow one did sound good though and I think the colour has been tweaked for sure Steve 🤔🤩🤩
Love this film and the others mentioned. Zombie will always be my favourite but these are next in line. I have the white bluray release and I've told myself no upgrades from bluray but this and the other top fulcis are special so might have to go for it next payday.
I love most of Fulcis movies especially his over the top gore fests Jason 🤩🤩 I would gladly pick up any Fulci Horror movies on 4k, his movies look so good on this medium!! Who would have thought it 😵💫😵💫🤩🤩👍👍

It really came out with no real fan fare (which is strange) I watched it last night Bboy and it was a great watch 🤩🤩 also there is a 5.1 mix on the disc as well, didn't know it was on there till I was told on the comments, enjoy the movie mate 🎃🎃👍👍

I am mate - it arrived today and I watched it straight out the box. Fantastic movie, second film I’ve watched by Fulci. Soundtrack is especially good 👍🏻 👍🏻
I think the poster would be better if it was portrait instead of landscape like the other side and all other posters in these sets. Another excellent video, John ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I was surprised to see it landscape Findlay, landscape really reminds me of a Cinema quad poster that would be outside a Cinema so that was a winner for me but portrait (especially a few in a row) look amazing mate!! 😁😁 thanks for watching Findlay 🤩🤩👍👍
@@MondoChelloveckMovies It is a mini of that cinema quad poster, I have an original (had it for years & love it!) There were portrait posters that were half quad size, think they were called double-crowns? Don't know if there were any for House By The Cemetery though

Nice packaging and physical supplementals on the arrow one, but I don't think I'll double dip, considering that it's the same print, only with a mono soundtrack instead of a Dolby Atmos one. Thanks for the comparison!

I can confirm that the Blue Underground version no longer comes with a slipcover. I ordered both House by the Cemetery and The New York Ripper from them a year and a half ago and neither one came with a slipcover. Looking forward to this limited edition from Arrow.

Hi John I've only got blu-ray I have got the old Arrow blu-ray of this film.
there is a new Blu-ray version out by Arrow for £25 with the same packaging as yours.
I don't know if the print is better than the old blu-ray version that I already have.
I did see a 3 disc version of the old arrow blu-ray for a tener once in CEX about a year a go but I didn't get it as I already had the single disc version.
I wish I had Bought it now, as Rockgod 2004 would say What a bellend

Is it the blu in the old white slip? If so, I' going to say yes. That release had horrendous "noise" on the picture. Great commentary tracks though.
@turntheblueiris4626 I'm sure the blu ray will be from this 4k scan mate as I can't see them putting out the old blu Ray, that did look ropey in places for sure!! Think all the commentary tracks are ported over 🤔🤩🤩👍👍
Looking at those still shots I think it might be the same transfer with a different soundtrack. Depends which restoration company did it and who licensed from who?

John, there were a couple of errors on the BU release that Arrow have now fixed.

Its unfortunate that the Arrow version has no Atmos track but it does have a dts hd 5.1 track along with the 1.0 mono. I wish i had done my research as I'd rather have the Blue Underground with Atmos.

Nice set, but I'm not a fan of the movie- the kid Giovanni Frezza completely kills it stone dead for me. "Mummy, mummy". I really hope arrow will put out Zombie Flesh Eaters 4k, that would be amazing
