It actually prononces the "Mamiya Hii"
*searches ebay for a Leica M6*
Accidently spends $2k
@@jaretf8305 oof
Jaret Foster found one for 1600 🥴🥴🥴🥴
I got mine for 800, ended up returning it though, had some issues
After looking at those prices I’m gonna have to open a water bottling factory and cry into them to make a profit in order to buy a Leica M6 with a lens.
The colors that come out of this film stock is amazing! Another great video Joe!
So many good shots...each picture by itself. They'd be good for a book.
ugh i can never get enough of your photography, joe! & btw the BGM slaps so hard lol so good
I love the colours and atmosphere from the dive motel images.
So incredibly good. Please keep doing film vids, I’m really enjoying them fr fr
The vibe in your videos is simply unmatched!
man these pasteltones are on point, wow ! amazing pics man. keep those clips coming !
Did anybody else find it hilarious that it said “no diving” at the dive bar? Or was that just me? 😂
no
Because you should not dive at a dive bar
That light 😭
Samuel Elkins 😭😭😭
love the simplicity of these videos joe! 👌🏼
Love that you’re getting more into CZcams Joe! Keep up the great work!
Loving these videos Joe! Your definitely one of my favorite photographers and the reason I got into the Leica system. This type of video is really great because it’s fun to get to see and hear your process as you shoot some really beautiful photos. Thank you for continuing to be consistent in posting these I know it’s a lot of work but it’s great content you got a knack for it 👍🏻
He is very talented, I agree.
Such a photogenic place the photos were amazing ☺ great vid 😊
Great video again Joe, Keep up your inspiring work vids!
So glad these are back
Fantastic video bro, feels like a different era. Keep it up!
Those old school motels are the best. I try to stay at those kinds of motels when I'm on the road. So much more interesting than a Quality Inn. Great pictures!
I don't usually comment but i just wanted to say I love your videos, keep it up!
stepping up the edits i see uuuu, very smoove
Wow so many great pics. Some of those from the pool remind me David Hockney paintings
Hi! What lens were you using on that M6? Thanks!
love how you handle the pro400H!!! dope imagesss!!!
yes joe! I love videos like these!
incredible joe! inspiring for my own films and photos going forward!
Pretty amazed at how soft but defined the Mamiya is. Incredible exposures and compositions on those, Joe.
That location is amazing! And I’d rather shoot 6x7 than 35mm, any day of the week.
This location is.. wow I'm speechless.
Compare 35mm and 120, what a great idea.
If you have a good lens, 35mm can really do the job.
Also the form factor is often forgotten. Medium format is... big, too big often for a daily carry.
what film did you use? i might've missed it in the video :))
Love al the photos 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Amazing shots 🤭 really love the color
Do you make any post-production on the colors which look absolutely gorgeous or are they like this from the camera (and film of course)?
When you say overexpose do you mean with your iso? Or are you also overexposing with your aperture settings?
I have a Leica MP and a Mamiya 7II and I think I agree mostly with this conclusion. Both are amazing film cameras and I love them dearly, but I tend to reach for the Leica more often than the Mamiya.
Maybe it's size, but to me the Mamiya also feels more precious, less sturdy (I haven't snapped off the film-changing-curtain lever yet though-like sooo many other people have ... ) The Mamiya also becomes more unwiedly when you use any other lens than the 65mm and the 80mm, due to the 43mm and the 50mm working better when using the external viewfinders (let's not talk about the 210mm which I suspect is some kind of Mamiya engineer department prank ... ) I love the 50mm and the viewfinder is great, but that's one more piece of fragile glass thingy to worry about ...
I've managed to damage the Mamiya once when I used the panoramic adapter (which morphs the 7II into a 35mm XPan alternative ... )-the film advance was damaged somehow. Very scary, until I found a great former professional Mamiya repair person who took the camera apart and fixed it.
But ... jesus ... I'm not complaining ... it's such a luxury to be able to use both of these amazing cameras.
Cool video bro. I have a question. With your night shots how did you Meyer? Incident meter bulb facing away from light to where your camera was on the tripod?
Where did you get your light meter from?
That’s some real 70’s vibe going on, amazing pics! What do you use to scan the photos? Pro Lab or flatbed?
Beautiful images! I'm also tending to prefer Fuji 400h these days. Love the colours it gives!
Cool shots! Really digging those fuji tones.
hey Jo, could you tell us what kind of film do you use ?
thanks
nice! the fuji pro400h really gives some fine, lush colors!
What a great video and images!
Killed it again joe sheesh
Joe first of all, amazing Channel even if you just restarted it. I have a question, you said you overexposed the film for 1 Stop. Does that mean you pulled the film and at the lab you indicated it as 200 instead of 400. Or you just gave it to them and they process it as it was rated (iso400). I am a bit confused about the push and pull thing. I want to recreat that look but don't know how. Would be cool to have a video about that topic. Thanks man keep inspiring us !!!
The pool photos especially and the colours remind me of David Hockney and William Eggleston so much
Very cool 😎 you both looked as if you stepped straight into the seventies! As for the cameras...both amazing. I got the feeling that you shoot the M6 way more than Mamiya generally.
hi, u never use a flash even at night ? how do u do ?
This is a vibe
Are all your leica shots with the 35 cron? Lovely btw, I gotta try that fuji 400!
Hey Joe! I love your style of photography and how much you use film. :) I am starting to buy some photo equipment and was curious as to what kind of tripods you like using. I'm really enjoying the weekly videos-- lots of great info.
What lens do you use for the Leica?
which light meter r u using?
Awesome colors 👏🏻
if you play this at 1.5x the background music becomes a BOP so try that the second time you watch it after you watch it normal speed first.
Man you should have gotten a photo of your wife with the cherry in that video pan. So much red. Unreal stuff man, can't believe how well your colours come out.
How exactly do you over expose medium format? (I use a Mamiya RB67 Pro-S)
Rasheed Ingram overexposing is simply shooting your film as if it were a lower ISO than it actually is. For example when shooting Portra 400, shooting it as if it was ISO 200 would be overexposed by 1 stop, shooting as if it was ISO 100 would be 2 stops overexposed. As you can see by overexposing in the examples from the video, you get a lot more detail in the shadows and none of the shadows actually look dark.
@@carlosgrajeda1986 so basically with my Mamiya Rb67 Pro s I would just meter for iso 100 instead of iso 400 and when I take it for development I just say "hey I pulled two stops"?
Rasheed Ingram you don’t need to tell the lab anything, that’s how it ends up being overexposed, because they will develop it for what the film is rated at. They will develop like normal and your film will be overexposed because you shot it at a lower ISO. Pushing is when you tell your lab, when you shoot at a higher ISO then what the film is rated for, for example shoot Portra 400 at 800 or 1600 iso, that’s when you want to tell the lab to push it a stop or 2 otherwise the photos come out dark because they were not exposed enough. In a situation where you want to overexpose as long as you shot at a lower ISO than what the film is rated, you don’t need to worry about how it is developed, it will be overexposed, the lab will process it normally and you’ll get that overexposed look with more detail in the shadows.
Rasheed Ingram didn’t meant to confuse you by the long explanation. Long story short, for the overexposed look, shoot the film at a lower ISO then what the film actually is and just get developed like normal.
Great 70s images. How did you do light metering? (I'm new to film)
Joao Carlos both of these cameras have internal light meters but he used some kind of Sekonic for the portraits.
@@davidhunt9692 Ok, thanks.
I saw briefly that you also added something on top of the M6 rangefinder window - I do the same to reduce the patch flare with this camera.
needed this, legit torn between the two rn
Nice shoots dude , like to see the stills , they looked very even between cameras ..
What is that device at 0:37?
Asking your opinion on it. Looks like Leica M6 is the only 35mm camera that's close in terms of quality of image than MF? I love MF but want a good 35mm for daily use. Been disappointed by my pentax K1000, Minolta x700 & all point and shoots i tried
What a timely video! I was JUST debating selling my mamiya 7 for a leica m6, as I currently own a rz67 as well.
Sell the RZ you have the two best ever cameras.
leica m6 or contax g2?
Filter link plz
Are you in manual mode to shoot at night with mamiya 7?
Great video as usual! This makes me want to try the Fuji 400H
Asher Huskinson really impressed. i love portra but fuji hitting right
@@ioegreer just hate that price increase tho
so good
Medium Format vs 35mm?
Nice photos! Pro 400H only really needs +1 stop over exposure so it’s a little less grainy. I shoot it the same way I do with Portra 400.
Last time I came this early i didn't have kids...
Sound track name please ???
so sick dude
Nice stuff Joe, although I personally prefer a bit of narrative behind the thought process behind the photos. Appreciate the time to make/upload the video regardless. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Nick Joyce noted ✨🙏🏼
Notification ganggggggg
Joe is hands down one of the most interesting leica photographers out there
that motel is sick
Keep going !!!
Amazing
Im amazed that he got that close to the water with the m6 lol. Anyways, i think that the mamiya is good for certain situations. like i would use it when i have a clear goal of what im shooting because of the 10 shots. This bar/motel reminds me of Stephen Shores work, or William Egglestons work. Plus i love anything with a 60's 70's type vibe.
Dude what’s the name of this track!?
Laxcity- Evening
Did you travel back in time for this location? 😂
Excellent
damn! this is a far more entertaining way to view your photography
Close to my (former and inferior) combo haha. Had a Leica M5 that I loved and my “daily” is a Mamiya 6 that I will probably lee forever. Fuckin love the thing
Not bad ioe...not bad
Video on shooting at night??
just a little tip - try not to cut on the beat, focus on syncopation
geoffrey why?
yes yes yes.
i'm curious...so what's the point with overexpose 2 stops...you literally overexposed 2 stops and compensate in lightroom or just the pushing/pulling procedure?
A lot of people choose to overexpose their film since film negatives retain highlight detail very well, but not so much shadow detail. Film doesn’t do well underexposed, even a stop. But certain film stocks can be overexposed several stops with no consequences. Digital sensors on the other hand retain shadow detail more and highlight detail less.
Subscribed.
great
0:24 my heart broke 3 times.. 😂
Wwwowww😻
The reason you can’t compare the two cameras is because you never side by side shoot the same image with each camera.
Christ those water shots give me anxiety
hello joe
Teach me!
yes early
