Wow you guys, thanks so much for the support and for your great advice. I realized while editing that it took me so long to put 2 and 2 together and figure out that the guys were the ghosts (the facepalm was strong). I am definitely watching the show now and will be posting my live reaction to the songs very soon. Subscribe and click the bell icon so you'll be the first to watch my reaction when it comes out!! :) xxxxx
The main singer had to get a instrument so he does play it edit: when he was younger
I thought she was 16
Lol i wrote that in the wrong comment 😂
Also, even tho it's on Netflix, the music and choreography is by Disney favorite Kenny Ortega, who did High School Musical and almost all the similar Disney musical movies of our time, not-to-mention for Michael Jackson performances.
Madison was fourteen when she auditioned and fifteen while recording ❤
Madison is sixteen years old her birthday is right around the corner
@@teateanova4077 I know. I was talking about when they were casting and recording.
You should add that this was Madison's first acting role in a movie or series!!!!
15 then 16 m8
she's turning 18 this year 😭
She's 16 and wasn't even 15 when she was picked for the show. She's now 16, The guys are 20, 22, and 23
I came here to say the same thing
i just realized that the person you plays julie is 16 and the person who plays luke is 22, i wonder if thats the reason they dont have a kissing scene, they said in an interview that they wont in season 2
I think she is turning 17 this year
@@malayjahbailey1570 she is but she didn’t yet so she is still 16. And Reggie which is Jeremy turned 24 on January
@@malayjahbailey1570 yea
LOL she said "If I were 17, I'd be obsessed with them"... Girl IM 25 AND IM OBSESSED WITH THEM AND JUST JULIE AND THE PHANTOM AS A WHOLE...
i feel you there lol. i'm starting to get obsessed as i know more about them
I'll be 31 in March and I'm obsessed 😂 I'm autistic and I have some shows that are my like... comfort shows kindof?? I just get obsessed and immerse myself in them. This is the first new one I've had in a while! Ive literally watched the series 12 times, not including all the CZcams videos lol
@@PunkRockBarbie girl same!! Idk the music just hits differently and they have meanings to them that just touch the heart strings ya know? 😩 and watching the actual show is a must!
She was 15 in this! She is 16 now, shes mad talented
I am 17 lol
They can all sing and play their instruments! That’s part of why they were casted, the auditions were held with the idea of making an actual band! There are these videos called “julie and the phantoms behind the band” where they filmed part of the casting, boot camp and recording for songs/show.
The original plan (pre-COVID) was for the band to go on tour. They chose their cast with the intentions of forming a real band.
If you are actually interested in checking out the show (which I highly recommend) I would suggest not reacting to the songs 'Unsaid Emily' and 'Standing Tall' separately. Those two songs in particular are very ingrained into the story and will either spoil plot points or the impact will be lessened due to lack of context.
This comment definitely needs to be higher up the page.
Nobody listens. They just react to songs anyway.
This ⬆️⬆️⬆️
I will definitely get context for the next reaction! Probably will watch the show and film the reaction to the songs :) thanks a lot for your advice!! ♥️♥️♥️
@@SofiaMaffei please do so. For your sake , not ours. Fantoms (the fandom name) want everyone to have an uplifting emotional experience similar to what we had
Its how this show and it's music is designed.
Hope u love it as much we do
And
#TellYourFriends
(U'll know when you watch the show)
This is Madison's first Audition for anything professional
Auditioned at 14
Recorded & filmed 15
Show released when she turned 16
Self taught - voice & piano - but they were given coaching for the show before recording/filming.
Self taught? I thought she was in a arts school thing, so I guess she got training there too
@@Sophie-ru9ir she was in arts school only for freshman year, and in theatre program(some music taught but no targetted coaching) & didnt like it there.
She was planning to transfer to music(vocal) program in sophomore yr
the reason you have disney channel vibes with jatp has a name: kenny ortega, the king!!!! also loved your reaction, please give us a part 2 🤩
wow that makes so much sense! that man does not cease to amaze me, his creativity!! thanks for the info :)
@@SofiaMaffei RIGHT??!!! the show is actually based on a brazilian tv show (julia e os fantasmas), but he changed a lot of stuff and made it modern(?) idk, still AMAZING!
6:06 actually she was singing the song live when they were filming, they mixed the live version with the studio one so that’s why her face expressions seems realistic ;)
Definitely do a Part 2!
The three boys are ghosts lol. Julie is the only one who can see them, except when they’re performing and they become visible to everyone. And yes they all play their instruments!
oh thank you so mush you mension it cause if she said magic one more time i would totly flipped im sorry sofia maffei but its ture
@@billriley-realityvideos4143 I mean she’s never seen the show so I’m sure it’s confusing lol.
@@RonHeartsMe i know i just cant stand it
I'm thinking Julie is a medium who's focus is music...since they only show up when they sing.
You not realizing they are actually phantoms is so funny to me 😂 Love this reaction, please make a part 2 ❤️
thank you!! i definitely will
@@SofiaMaffei Yes you’re getting a Disney vibe from me because can you think of the person who choreographed the high school musical movies is the executive producer of the show
@@SofiaMaffei Isn’t any pitch correction she’s actually singing it for real the most there is is like a little bit of a speaker to make her voice more loud and maybe something to make it clearer but her voice and Pitch isn’t really changing
@@SofiaMaffei She was singing this song when she was recording it they were performing it live half of the time but sometimes they like and it makes the audio that their own voice made with the other that they recorded in the studio so it is her voice entirely and she is not faking her singing to make it look real
@@SofiaMaffei They are also really playing their instruments they are not faking the instrument playing every instrument that you see is played they actually are playing themselves or at least know how to play them
Also the way they recorded for this show is they had the band play over a track live. Obviously it’s not the same exact audio playing in the show, it’s mixed. But they are performing (singing and playing their instruments) each time.
She recorded while 15, but will be 17 in June!
And it looks sort of real with the first song because when they recorded, she sang live along to the Studio track to make it look more real!
all of them actually play their instruments! Madison was 14 or 15 when filming and now is 16 I believe. all of them are so talented! also all the boys passed away in 1995 and came back when Julie played their song. those are the phantoms but in bright people could see the guys performing with Julie.
All the performances are filmed live. You can tell the differences in the soundtrack album. They don't lip sync. Kenny Ortega filmed all their performances live
Sorry, a bit late to the party, but I had to reply to your comment because "Great" is an amazing example of the fact that they perform live. The guitar riffs Charlie does when Madison is kneeling on the piano are not part of the studio version. And they really add to the building drama in that song. They are all just so talented.
@@4vrJaci And I can't believe Netflix didn't renew the series. How stupid can people be!!!!
@@pennygarrity386 I know right - was so destroyed because there is so much storyline left to tell and the chemistry/talent/friendships of this cast are amazing. I've rewatched the series so many times now and sing the songs all the time that I think my family thinks I've lost it. : )
@@4vrJaci same here
In your part 2, you should watch “Finally Free,” “Flying Solo,” and “Edge of Great!”
please!!
Please
Yeah for sure
Perfect harmony too
AND PERFECT HARMONY!!!IT'S THE BEST SONG EVERRR!! ❤❤❤❤😍😍😍
Ok so, three members of the Band Sunset Curve (Now or Never) died in 1995 . 25 years later, in 2020 this girl Julie, who is dealing with the loss of her mother, sort of, accedently brings the three of them back as ghost. She is the only one that can see them. They help her to get back into music, because she lost her love and passion for music when her mom died. And when they realise (Bright) that everyone can see them when the 4 of them are playing togther, they start a Band. And Julie tells people that the guys are hologramms. Because you know, it's better the keep something like this a secret. 😁 Hope that explains it a little bit😊😄
It was actually a requirement when they auditioned for the show that the actors know how to play their characters instruments! Also all the clips from the show are all live recordings. They had them play the songs live when they recorded and then just mixed in the studio in places where you might not be able to hear the vocals as well, but besides those few it’s all live recorded. It’s really cool!
when they were filming wake up, madi was actually singing and playing over the track and it literally sounded just like the studio version. she’s super talented
When Kenny picked the cast he didn't just want a cast he wanted a band with real music chemistry. So they all play their own instruments.
You'll love the music BUT you really NEED to watch the show to really appreciate it and I can't believe you didn't say anything about her and Charlie's slide up harmony at the end of the song. He hit that note right with her.
HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE BEFORE. THAT MAN IS INSANE
@@k.whatever9046 OMG YES!!!!!!
Fun fact, the drummer(Alex played by Owen Patrick Joyner) wasn’t originally going to sing but during his audition he asked if they wanted to hear him sing, and the rest was history
love me a brave artist showing their talent!
I love how shes soo like confused that the guys are at the back of Julie and shes saying "CaLl ThE PolICe" 😂🤣
13:04 Omg, I love your reactions! Hahahahaha, i need more reactiones of Julie And The Phantoms, I'll be waiting beauty!
5:55 you were saying how her face isn’t “pretty face” and how she made it look real. Yes it was pre recorded but I believe she was still singing as they recorded it so it looked real.
I was screaming “NO better SHES....FIFTEEN!!”
hahaha love this
she's 16
@@aryamteffra1177 but she was 15 when recording
The cast can sing and play their instruments. Kenny Ortega (the guy that made high school musical) wanted a real band so they can go on tour if the show was sucessful but covid.
that tour would've been wonderful
@@SofiaMaffei Thank you Sofia ! I laughed a lot. And at 8:57, you talked about Descendants, I won't spoil it, not too much but there's 3 actors who played in Descendants who play in Julie and the Phantoms. 😁 I won't say who it is but in Julie and the Phantoms, one is singing, I hope one actor will be singing in season 2 🤞🏻🤞🏻and another is rapping. 😊 And Kenny Ortega did Descendants too. He did and do great things.
Sometimes, the guitarist, Charlie Gillespie (Luke) wear an orange beanie in the show.
Madison Reyes (pianist), Owen Patrick Joyner (drummer) and Jeremy Shada (bassist) are Americans and Charlie Gillespie (guitarist) is Canadian from Dieppe, New Brunswick. He speaks French. There's some videos of him speaking French and he played in some French TV series and movies.
Jeremy Shada, the bassist, is from Boise, Idaho. He is married to a ballerina named Carolynn Shada. She's a sweetheart. Her twin is Carson Rowland. They have 2 dogs. He did the voice of Finn in Adventure Time.
He sings a song named Ballerina. It's for his wife. He realeased it on November 3rd wich is Carolynn's birthday. 😍🥰 There's a song named Home is where my horse is and you have to watch Julie and the Phantoms to understand the why of this song. 😁 And he wrote lots of songs.
Owen Patrick Joyner, the bassist, is from Norman, Oklahoma. He seems so sweet and funny. 😁 He is a former Nickelodeon star. He played in the 2014-2016 Nickelodeon's comedy television series 100 Things To Do Before High School, and in the 2018-2019 Nickelodeon series Knight Squad. He and his Knight Squad co-star Daniella Perkins are great friends.
Madison Reyes, the pianist, is from Brooklyn, New York and her parents are from Puerto Rico. She currently lives in Pennsylvania. She is a huge anime fan. She was only 18 months old when "High School Musical" first debuted. She loves High School Musical.
P.S. I love your name. 😁
i love watching people watch this show that has no idea what's going on, they always get so confused. Please do more parts!!
Same! Reactions about that is so much fun to watch!
Yes, definitely do a part 2 on songs like Perfect Harmony and Unsaid Emily!!
If you're considering watching the show, leave Unsaid Emily for that viewing - it's best in context.
@@JennyAnn That's also true. You'll get the feels when you watch it in context.
Yasssss
now that youve mentioned ben and harry from descendants i now cannot unsee lmao
You'll end up obsessed with them anyway lol
Hahah yess I watched the show 14 times that’s how obsessed I am-
@@malia4927 Got ya beat girl lol. I've lost track of how many times I've watched it. Want to kick Netflix's ass for not giving us an answer about season 2. I want to get hold of Kenny and say if Netflix doesn't give us another season than as soon as the pandemic is over take them out on tour with all the songs and all the new songs they've written together.
"three dudes just WALKED into your house and they're just watching you sing" yea.. they totally WALKED in
This video was posted months ago, but while they were filming they were performing live, instruments and vocals was all done live, then obviously some post-production. That's why they have the faces you would have when you sing
"She's 17, SHES 171?!?!"
When she started singing this she was 14
OMG I loved your reaction to this!!!! YOU SHOULD DEFINETLY WATCH THE SHOW. And check more songs of them and definetly would like to see a part twooooo!!❤️
I have watched the show so many times it never gets old I'm obsessed with the show and songs
fun fact: this is madi's 1st acting gig ever. when u watch the show u would never believe this her 1st time doing this cuz it just comes so naturally to her. it's like she's been doing it her whole life.
fun fact : julie actually sung the song while filming because kenny wanted her performances to seem more real !!
A little info about the actors and their characters:
• Madison Reyes - Plays Julie (obviously you can tell which one she is haha), she is 16 as you know.
• Charlie Gillespie - Plays Luke (the lead singer/guitarist) and is 1/3 of the phantoms, he is 22 in real life.
• Owen Patrick Joyner - Plays Alex (the drummer) and is 1/3 of the phantoms, he is 20 in real life.
• Jeremy Shada - Plays Reggie (the bass player), he is 1/3 of the phantoms, he is 23 in real life.
more pleaseeee !
Jeremy turned 24 in January
pls pls pls finish all the songs. i’m literally obsessed with this show and their voices!!
Me at the intro: THOSE AREN'T THREE RANDOM DUDES! Those are Reggie Peters, Alex Mercer, and Luke Patterson, three amazing ghosts.
All the actors actually play the instrument that they use in the show. Like Julie with the piano and the guys with the drums, bass and guitars
the thing about maddison reyes is that she was completely self taught. she was 14 when casted, 15 when recording and is 16 right now. her and the rest of the cast also filmed these songs almost completely live because kenny ortega wanted them to.
I absolutely LOVE watching people react to Wake Up for the first time without knowing the show cuz everyone's reaction is "WHY ARE THERE DUDES STANDING BEHIND HER LIKE THAT??" and it's just so hilarious to see😂
She's 16 years old and when she was recording the series she had just turned 15
Only Julie can see the phantoms and everyone else can when they play music
also when you said that this show seems very intent on showcasing musical talent, you were 100% correct! all then boys are so passionate about music and all of them play several instruments! Madison is great at piano and i think beginning to pick up guitar. all these actors are extremely musically talented!
you should definitely watch julie and the phantoms!!
Yes she should. I think ALL the reviewers should. Film reviewers watch the movie's before reviewing... I think this should be a rule so the content of each song is fully realised.
@@bobettacarter6593 i am definitely watching the show now and filming my reaction to the songs! thanks so much for the advice, you're absolutely right I need the context!! :)
The man character is names Madison Reyes this was her first acting gig! And by now you definitely know the boys are the phantoms Luke (main guitarist) being Charlie, Alex (drummer) Owen, and Reggie (bass) Jeremy. And yes they all played their Instruments
madison does sing when they're filming! you can find bts videos of this scene specifically and can i just say WOW. she doesn't sound a bit different, her voice is completely natural and she was only 15. her talent is extraordinary
I am not the only one who loves Julie and the phantoms
Madison ( Julie ) is 16 now she was 15 when this was made, Charlie( Luke) is 22 he’s the one singing with Julie most of the time, Jeremy( Reggie, the bass player) is 24 and Owen (Alex, the drummer) is 20 and yes they sing and play their instruments.
i’m pretty sure other have already told you but she was actually 15 when the songs were recorded, and 16 during filming!
You should also react to “wow” “all eyes on me” “this band is back” and “stand tall”
The three boys are ghosts. They can only be seen by Julie, except whenever they sing/perform with her, everyone present can also see them.
The guy who done Highschool Musical and The Descendants on disney worked on this too. Thats why I have the songs on my disney playlist. 😂😂😂
I'm sure everyone has already chimed in on the age thing, but there are some moments in the show where the soundtrack differs from the show (Edge of Great being the biggest offender after they decided to add an extra guitar riffs), so there are definitely parts where they just used the live audio.
Also, yeah, you are definitely right about hiring people who were musicians first. Before COVID hit, the plan was to have the actors tour as a real band, so they had to hire people who could sing, play instruments, AND do both well enough to nail it consistently live
7:29 those are boys she meets in the show. they're ghosts so they can poof in and out of places whenever they want. from left to right it's reggie, alex, luke.
CAN’T WAIT FOR PART 2 💗
Loved your reactions so much!! It's true they are amazing
The director of the show make them perform the songs on set while they shot the show... that why she looks like she's singing, because she is
I can't wait to see you react to more. All the songs in this show is amazing...
I love reaction videos, they make you experience all the feels of the first watch all over again *-* Great video!
already waiting for part two!!!
I hope you’re ready you just summoned the most hard core fantoms
hahaha i'm overwhelmed by the response. you guys are definitely the best
Yup
Out of a lot of the reactions, yours was one of the best. I'll definitely be watching your other ones. I'm 37 and absolutely adore this show, and the music. The fact that they all act, sing, and okay their own instruments makes it a million times better!😊
They are actually Phantoms and other people can only see them when they’re playing with Julie and its a soooo beautiful show
I seriously NEED you to keep going, I loved it!!!
We need a part two! I love your reactions!
You have to watch or react to the behind the scenes videos of wake up you can hear her sing over the track and it sounds so unbelievably beautiful
behind the scenes are my fave kind of content! definitely will react to it thanks for the info
@@SofiaMaffei No problem. Loved your reaction!🤍
Hi! I'm not sure if anyone gave you a rundown already but I'll leave one here. The really special thing about this show that so many people love about it is the fact that all of the people shown singing/playing instruments are actually the ones that recorded the songs. The director also made the cast sing live as they filmed the scenes so it would look authentic. The 4 main characters (Julie and the 3 phantoms) were casted mainly on their vocal/musical abilities because the director and writers wanted to form a real band. Before covid they were supposed to tour, but ofc that can no longer happen. Loved your video! I'll be back for part 2 :)
I LOVE this reaction!! Your energy and excitement is so good to see :)
thank you so much!!!
Definitely looking forward to a part 2
When all the actors were casted they actually played their instruments like a real band.
Please do a part 2! I really enjoyed your reaction!!
DO A PART 2 PLEASEEEE
WITH FLYING SOLO, EDGE OF GREAT AND PERFECT HARMONY
When she said since one direction split up 😭
Same directioner:)
heyy, i’m knew. and i would just like to say the the director of the show has the sing the song when they are filming so their lips match up better with the lyrics. this is shown in some of the behind the scenes
in the song Now or Never yes they are playing their instruments and later Luke, Reggie, Alex died from eating bad hot dogs in the back of a guy's trunk
I love seeing peoples' reactions to jatp!! It's just SO good. criminally underrated
Signing up just for the reactions you'll give to the songs! This whole show is SO amazing. I'm rewatching it, and the songs are on replay while I work. Just saying. It's that good!
i really love all the reaction!🤍
I love this show sm 😭
I just subscribed, I would love to see a part 2 ❤
9:16 yes they are actually playing the instruments in the whole show
My favourite show and I loved your reaction 🥺 please do more
Thank you for reacting to this....I really hope you would react to the series...Every single songs have a lot of message in line with the scenes...It makes the experience all the much better if you hear the songs along with the storyline... The show is a masterpiece and the songs are all bops...Netflix seriously need to confirm Season 2 asap...
Her reaction was exactly like the crowds😂😂😂
I just discovered this series, I was quite shocked how much I enjoyed it and the music some of the tracks are so catchy and you reactions are so cute, DONT get me started on the Emily track, the video that goes with the song is so moving love your content keep it up fellow Brit 👍☝️
Yea please part 2
Yesss they all play their instruments!
They can all sing and play their instruments, when preforming in the show they're all singing on top of the track so that it gives a live feeling. Madison reyes was actually 14 when she auditioned and 15 when filming and recording. They guy in the beanie in the last song is called Luke in the show and the actor's name is charlie gillespie and he's 22. The drummer's name is alex in the show and the actor's name is owen joyner and he's turning 21 in july. The guy in the leather jacket's name is reggie in the show and the actor's name is jeremy shada and he's 24 years old. You should definitely make more parts because the entire cast is so talented and the songs are a bop. the show is so good too so maybe you could watch it if you want. Sorry this is so long, but I love this reaction
All of them can actually play their instruments!💗 nice reaction!💗
yes part 2 Flying Solo, Edge Of Great, I've Got The Music
I’d love to see a sequel to this video!!
OMG , I want part 2 sooo bad 😂😂
My reaction to the first episode is up!! czcams.com/video/rfHC3s44Nnc/video.html
I’ll be posting the next one very very soon ♥️
She auditioned for the show at 14, filmed at 15, and is now currently 16
And I love how she playing the piano okay alright
Yeeessss they are all playing the instruments and singing 😊😊😊😊
