Do what I did in the A . BUY the worse properties n the best neighborhoods. Have an achitect create your blue prints and use that as your model. That's my formula. My first flip I learned the in and out of realestate. It cost me 80 percent less than paying for tuition for four years. My return is greater than most college graduates. I turned off the tv, stop watching the news and starting to just look at properties and walk neighborhoods. I went to the city and looked up the urban development plan for the next 20 years and saw the future .

I moved to ATL in the 90s and now live in Johns Creek. ATL has everything a brotha could want. The thing is it’s not for everyone. If you are here to play games, do the strip club circuit, and run thru as many women as possible, then you are ok to visit but shouldn’t move here. ATL was changed by 4 major events. The Olympics in 96, the emergence of ATL Rap music, Katrina, and GW Bush.
When I moved here as a 20 year old Clinton was president, Campbell was mayor of Atlanta, and JD was the biggest rap name. Freaknik was winding down. Buckhead clubs had no cover charge and closed when the sun came up. Strippers were DIMES. They danced for full songs and even kicked it. They were still straight, not these butchies dancing today. There were more jobs than ppl. It was the “Black Mecca.” The biggest mistake ppl make when they move here is thinking that because ppl sound southern that that equates to them being “country.” Lol. You will get got! And you’re gonna be bitter about it for a long time. There’s 6 mil ppl spread out across 10 counties, contrary to popular belief, this is not a "small town."
I would advise ppl to stay away, because out-of-towners have ruined all of the fun. Buckhead closes at 2 now (thx Puffy and Ray Lewis). Selling your mixtape outside of Kroger is a job now. Teenage girls are idolizing these floozies on TV, because they aren’t capable of handling anything that’s mentally challenging. Let them continue to off each other in the hoods and now places like Stn Mtn (which used to be a middle class area for us), so that we can buy it up for the low and rent it to Mexicans. At least you know they’ll pay their rent on time. And don’t do business with any Asians-includes Indians. They don’t respect the way American business is conducted. I agree with some of your points, especially about the news, but keep this in mind if you’re thinking of living here-have a realistic plan and be about your business.

I took a pay cut to get the hell out it's too many transplants who don't have a clue and leave within two years bad mouthing the A when they moved here on a whim with no goals or plans which is why I live in the suburbs. Honestly, every urban city has a ghetto so I don't understand his point. Plus it's too many ppl trying to live that social media life if that's what you want then you are planning on being broke anyways.

If you think you cam shame a man because you do not like how he is dressed then go right ahead, but remember...the very essence of being a man is something that you will never understand, Stop trying to control men and just be women. 1. The rent is not that high here. Especially compared to places like California, New York, and Baltimore (where I lived for 3 years before coming back home to Atlanta).
    2. You mentioned that a lot of people here aren't from here (which is true) and then you say we're not friendly (which is not true). 9 times out of 10 the unfriendly people are the ones that aren't from here.
    3. Zone 6 IS NOWHERE NEAR as ghetto as some of the areas like Bankhead, The Bluff, etc.
    4. You had no car which meant you probably did your traveling on Marta so you were automatically introduced to one of the bad aspects of the city.
    5. There's violence everywhere. And if you think the news was depressing down here, try living in Baltimore.
I was born and raised here and I love my city with every bit of my heart. But the 'migrants' have given this city a bad reputation and it wasn't always that way. The mistake most people make is coming down here on a dream. Do research. Have a plan. Start sending out resumes and putting in applications BEFORE you move so that your plan is already put in motion. Temptation is strong down here. You gotta be strong enough to fight that temptation and focus on what you need to be focused on. While there are many people who talk a lot of shit about my city, there are just as many who speak highly of the ATL because they came down here with a plan and followed through on that plan.

JUST know when you come to Atlanta, be prepared to hustle, and make sure your credit is good, make sure you have backup money in the bank and please do not keep talking to Atlanta natives about Atlanta we know how Atlanta is we live here. Its your responsibility to make life better no matter what location your in. Dont get me wrong many people here are hood and wouldn't change for nothing. Atlanta is becoming more over populated and with that being said if you look and notice new homes have been built, and more warehouse jobs to make room for the high number of population.
And remember that pay looks greener on the other side of the grass but it always meet up to the standard of living, so if you say to yourself its cheap in ATLANTA and don't have a great traveling Job, or web based job, or don't have a great paying job ready before your arrival that's making over 60,000.00 a year and making sure you manage your money well without any dept with great credit, then your good in Atlanta
and you will not get stuck in ATLANTA if your money and mind is right.

  • @sheikdavid1411
    @sheikdavid1411 Před 5 lety +31

Atlanta has the good, the bad and the ugly just like anywhere else. So please don't act like alot of the drama you experienced while you were here doesn't exist in other cities. My question to you is, what did you bring to Atlanta, what were you expecting Atlanta to do, save you???
Alot of people bring their problems and issues to Atlanta thinking that Atlanta is supposed to solve their issues just because they move here. People come here trying to hide who they really are. They come here attempting to run and hide from their past in order to be someone new, in order to feel better about themselves through starting over or to be someone they are not because no one may really know about their past here and tend to act differently here than where they are from.
Many use Atlanta as a place to escape the hell they came from. Atlanta hasn't always been known for having alot of gays like it is known now and not everyone who lives here is gay. Many people have however openly brought alot of their in the closet bullcrap and hidden secrets to Atlanta, especially people who came here from New York.
Not saying everyone who came here from other places have or had bad intentions when they came here but alot of people ran from their insecurities and issues where they were from and brought that crap here all in order to live a better life and most have been provided that here. Atlanta is a great city and Georgia is a great state, your experience can either be a good or a bad one but nine times out of ten it depends on you and the energy and attitude you bring here.

Moved to ATL in the mid 90s, attended college graduated, job hunt and at the time i would say job hopping because I could have quit a job and found another within a day or two as employers were begging for skilled workers. I finally secured a job with a large corporation and live great for some years. Also, at this time manufacturing was up and America as a whole smelled like money and prosperity. Fast forward to 2005, and NAFTA hit the USA jobs was leaving by the millions and the ATL took a hit as well, Bush held office and somehow made matters worst, Katrina occurred and here comes my layoff from the corporate giant. I immediately realized that the days of job hopping was done as the staffing agencies now had lines of people stretching out the door whom was looking for work as well. I gave up looking and ran out of monies and head to the food stamp line. You might be asking what does Katrina have to do with Atlanta back then? Seemed like the cities that was affected by the hurricane moved to Atlanta for refuge and seeking work. Atlanta was not what it use to be ever since. However I must say, I loved Atlanta during that time period when it was the place to be for employment. The culture, things to do, the communities, cheap homes in nice areas. i since moved and only visit periodically.

Alabama not just Atlanta got some hardcore killers...One thing I have to say it was very extremely easy for me to land two jobs like it was nothing. Most likely based on my "accent". I had this lady ask me was I British. Lol. towards the end of my time in Atlanta is when I started to see a lot of things I did not like, now mind you I was pregnant with twins. I met my kids father from Cali and I guess I was craving West Coast that's why we vibe so well. I recall us going out shopping at this big International grocery store. The store had a flag of every country up I used to love that place we spent hours there but every time we would go places on always catch other man staring at him even in church Lord and I heard now they got these gay churches....think one other person said Sodom and Gomorrah, that's the way I think of it now.. some men will f*** anything that got tits and ass and look like a woman so they don't have to say they gay. Look at all these dudes Young Buck that singer got caught in the motel they frontin like they didn't know them dudes was men they knew it's a tranny .going around in the hip hop industry believe it or not they so tired of getting coochie thrown at them they want something different I know what the f*** they doing! Some of them get with other culture women because they think they can get away with it easier they know we can sniff that s*** out. Black women better be on the lookout it's a lot of them out there now especially if your man been to prison. We 'all seen that damn video with that inmate bragging about him and some other guy turned this guy out.

If you're looking for normalcy in ATL you have to go to Stockbridge, Marietta, Jonesboro, McDonough, and other cities surrounding Atlanta. Know that everyday that you're going to see phenomenal women. The key is not to try to screw everything you see. Then limit your circle....don't think just because someone may speak to you that they're your friend. Cherish your true friends in that circle. Also know that the gay thing is real. And if that's not you then you don't have to be rude, just treat people like you want to be treated and keep it pushing. Like someone told you....get you a fine woman inside and out and find a decent job and don't let your issues become hers and vise versa. You'll be fine.

Ive lived near Atlanta since late 92, from Dallas, Tx. Things have changed quite a bit since then. Traffic is 10x worse. Police everywhere now just itching to get you into the system and pay the big bux. Cost of living anywhere within 30 mile radius of the city skyrocketed. Used to be able to rent a decent 1br apt for 500/mth just 10 yrs ago, now the very same apt is 1150. I'm sure rent and cost of living is going up everywhere, but over 2x in less than just 1 decade is too much. I love Atlanta area, it's the city in the forest and a pretty place. Climate is just right, not too muggy and hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter, not as muggy and buggy as spots like FL and gulf coast.. North GA is just a pretty place in general. Really the only thing keeping me here is my elderly parents tho, once they are gone I will probably leave. It's not that I don't like it here, it is just getting too expensive and I have to hustle 2 jobs just to barely get by now, where as before I could easily make it with just 1 - 40hr/wk.

Gee Thang's post below expounds on specifically why ATL isn't the Mecca Ebony Magazine proclaimed it to be in the late 1980s. Black ppl today are not serious. Black people in the 20s-90s were SERIOUS PEOPLE, making moves that mattered. Young Black people often have pipe dreams, won't work together for what they want or need, and are resentful, bitter, & foolish. If our people would do the things that made us successful in the past (get educated, work hard, have real Faith real beliefs and prayer, MARRY & not spread children everywhere) we could excel...whether in Atlanta or anywhere else.

I left Atlanta years ago. It was not because I did not have family and business contacts there....it was because I found Atlanta not to be the city that everyone thinks it is. Yes! You can have a great time partying there...however, to live there and to visit there are two separate situations. I have relatives there that were born and raised there and are well connected, are self-employed, and doing very well. But they are even getting a little "disenchanted" with the so-called "Black Mecca"! Trust me....Atlanta is not all it is made up to be. Now, I have never been too fond of Atlanta from the very beginning when I first stepped off the plane when I moved there. The "new Atlanta" is nothing like the "old Atlanta", which was full of promising jobs and careers....but the new Atlanta is over-populated/saturated, overrated and it is difficult for well-educated people regardless of race to find good paying jobs now. I am highly educated and I have a lot of professional experience and I have made a lot of money in my lifetime, and I am considered handsome....but I do not judge people by how much money they have or how much education they have....it takes all kinds of people to make this world go around! In all actuality, most people that I know....including my relatives, are moving out of metro Atlanta for other parts of the United States. For instance, Seattle, Fort-Worth, Charlotte, and Columbus, Ohio are BOOMING...and is currently among the fastest growing Cities in the United States. Yes...Dallas, Houston, and other Southern Cities are growing. However, I have found that for African-Americans, the four Cities that I listed above are good choices...regardless of race or ethnicity...Columbus, Charlotte, Fort-Worth, and Seattle are the places to be right now. I am a grant writer and I study populations shifts for statistical information to include in my grant proposals....and I find the number of people moving to Atlanta do not stay there very long because it is overrated... Yes!Atlanta is growing, but its rate of growth has slowed and Seattle, Charlotte, Fort-Worth, and Columbus are growing extremely RAPIDLY...At a similar pace that Atlanta was growing during the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. As this brother has said, when people visit Atlanta, they are very impressed and intrigued by the City. However, once they move there they see the City of Atlanta for what it is...OVERRATED!!! There are other Black Meccas that are very prosperous and Atlanta is not the only City in the United States that works for African-Americans and in my opinion, as well as many people that I have conversed with....it is not the "Black Mecca" that everyone wants to give it credit for being. My advice to anyone wanting to relocate there, make sure that you study and do research on Census data that shows you the facts as to which cities in the U.S. are doing well for African-Americans...for anyone regardless of race as far as that goes...because as this brother has shared, you can make it anywhere when you put your mind to it....but Atlanta is more difficult than any other city when it comes to "setting your niche and roots"! The Mid-West is BOOMING AGAIN...especially Columbus, Kansas City, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis! Check out these Cities. Seattle, Denver, Portland, and Pheonix are booming....but the African-American population is not very large...the same with San Francisco and Boston. However, each of these cities is known for having thriving African-American communities....and they are worth investigating as far as relocation! I relocated to Columbus, Ohio, and regardless of what the natives that were born and raised here may say, this city is on the move. Most people that you meat here are from somewhere else, and we love it here! Anyway, I thought Id take the time to share with everyone about my experiences with Atlanta and other cities in the U.S. as far as my perception of "Black Meccas" and prospering cities other than Atlanta!

Law Abiding African American True in some parts it's sad but true, but I believe deep down in our own hearts we have to find our own happiness somewhere,we can't just keep moving around, surely there are other places, but loving who you are and finding out what you like to do is always best, there are a lot of people leaving Atlanta, but people come and go,I believe as a people we shouldn't just throw chance to the wind, the only place abroad that I've lived in was Canada, everywhere else has been Vegas,Ohio, Virginia,Mount Vernon,Portland,New York,North Carolina,Tenn, Orlando Florida,Dallas Texas, and I just get on a bus and leave,I like ATL, because I don't have to be involved with people that don't know me,and it's easier to stay to myself and do my own thing, I'll be 53 in April,so I'm in a good place in my life, ATL, don't fit me,but it's more laid back than other places I've been to,these people that are born here,Mann.. they'll never leave because the majority of them don't take advantage of the education, plus you got a lot of old MF,that ain't never left the state they just stay in the neighborhood trying to run it down with their BS,Broke Poor as dirt, stupid Felonies,Drugs,Lies, deception, and false game that's out of style,so yeah ATL is crappy when it comes to people, but the city and landscape doesn't change,it's the people that need to change,or get the hell out..!!!..I can definitely relate to what your saying, I'm in total agreement...

I'm from Pittsburgh too. Lived in atl for almost 8yrs. Atlanta has $8-$10 an hr temp jobs that ARE NOT 40hrs a week. Traffic is insane. You'll pay $900 a month for a roach infested poorly maintained apartment. Alot of ppl move to atlanta and will work a taco bell & mcdonalds just to say they live in Atlanta. And there'll be 5 ppl staying in a two bedroom apt while they work 20hrs a week for $8 and hour. I got out of there and came to jax fl and haven't regret it.

Yes you can acquire buildings without money or anything else you desire.
Step 1. Create in your imagination how the acquisition of the properties will better your life and your community.
Once clear, write it down 3 times with cursive handwriting with your dominant hand first. Then your not dominant hand.
BE SURE to state your desires in confident statements as if you already have the properties because in your Spiritual Imagination they already exist.
Step 2. Create a simple poem that rhymes that states your desires and record it to music and listen and dance and laugh to it at least once a day.
Also right before you go to sleep.
Step 3. Obtain a real estate dictionary and sleep with it. Carry it with you everywhere you go. Stare at each page about one second a page each day for 30 days.
Step 4. Look at some videos on CZcams on Feng Shui for how to bring positive energy into your home and office. Make sure your home is clutter free. Keep ONLY positive music going in your home at all times. Pay close attention to your frequency. Very important to spend time volunteering with children and the elderly at least once a week.
Step 5. Since you truly treasure your freedom and have a good eye for detail real estate will be excellent for you to acquire. Work on elevating your leadership skills so that you can interface with people easily and effortlessly. NEVER focus on just the money, learn to read the inner energy of every situation you are involved in, and the lesson that is presenting itself.
Step 6. Find at least 3 vacant properties that attract you. Go to each house at least once a week and walk around the house as if it is yours. Pick up garbage or even plant some seeds. Talk to neighbors about the property. Utilize your imagination to feel the energy of the home. Ask the house for permission to live in it or rent it.
Step 7. Go to the county recorder either in person or online if you can. Find out who owns it and if there is a mortgage on it.
Become VERY proficient at doing it.
Step 8. Send a letter to the owner requesting permission to partner with them on the property.
Step 9. The documents you will need to know how to use are the following,
    Mechanic Lien
    Warranty Deed
    Quit claim deed
    Release deed
    Power of attorney
    Partnership agreement
    Incorporation forms
    Land trust forms
    Modification agreement
    Various affidavits
    Loan authorization form
    Mortgage release request form
    Qualified Written Request
Step 10. Investigate if the property taxes are in arrears and by how much.
Yes anyone can do this if they are willing step out of the matrix of feeling that they need money to acquire things. Nothing wrong with using money, its the obsession for it that can blind us to our other powers for getting things done.

Ooooh....Soon as I heard you were from Pittsburgh, I had to comment. I'm a born and bread NY'er that lived in Pittsburgh for a year. I moved there because my fiance, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh, But he lived in NY on and off, wanted me to come down and start our lives together. My mom is from Macon, I thought they were friendlier down there. The way you described the ATL is the way I feel about Pittsburgh. And it wasn't really diverse. There were a lot of Black people who would just stare at me. My NY/Jamaican accent didn't help much. After my fiance was murdered in our house in Brookline.....I went back NY. And I'm a square. I was hated on because I had a administration job at UPMC. Most of the black people I met outside my job had fast food jobs worked at a bar, or cleaned hotel rooms. I didn't see how they were making it. And they thought I was all types of bougie.....

There were a lot of people that wanted to be hood down in Pittsburgh as well. Some of them were my age and older ( I'll be 39 this year) I was like Da f is wrong with you????....It was crazy.....I was also down there when the Wilkinburgh massacre happened, that Wendy Bell was fired.
