    This can be powered by wheels itself, like the early manual lawn mowers. And the handles need extensions so that a standing position can be maintained. Working in standing position is ten times easier than bent one. A light detachable collector will be much handier than lifting and overturning the whole machine.

I was telling another microgreen farmer about this lady as he does his with a knife and gets much dirt into the greens. So do you have a small one they can use AT the market also? I know she had one I saw her use also. Let me know as I told the one farmer about this device but it wasn't this big one. It was one she had with her at the market. Thanks so much!

      It could be made with a regular reel mower, and an attached collection bag. Then simply plant the rows the same width as the wheels on the mower. The reel mower blades could be re-engineered to cut the leaves without damaging them.
      What is sad is the price they want for this; and they would charge 2000 for one with wheels? And you still have to provide the drill!! It's always about MONEY!

    Even easier...how about something closer to a lawn mower. Adjustable wheels (up and down and left and right). Then an extended handle to push along like a lawn mower. This looks a little awkward having the worker in a bent over position...even though it's an improvement over old methods. If you haven't thought of this change....then play with it...before someone else does.

  • @HansJrgenFurfjord
    @HansJrgenFurfjord Před 4 lety

    You need ropes that are not made from nylon or fabrics containing anything else than wool or cotton. Using nylon ropes sprinkles the microgreens with a shower of microplastics and a shower of nanoplastics (one harms cells from the outside, the other harms cells from the inside). Nylon is as much plastics as any other plastic. All plastics consist of carcinogenic chemicals that are released in the body in addition to the mechanical damage the plastic particles cause. The amount of microplastics released this way is extremely small, but that's the thing with microplastics and certain chemicals, they accumulate. Plastic packaging around food is enough to contaminate it considerably, and this device even exposes plastics to friction, which releases a lot more microplastics.

    • @FarmersFriend
      @FarmersFriend  Před 4 lety +1

      The Quick Cut Greens Harvester is actually extremely gentle on the greens. A vacuum would definitely be more rough on the greens. The macrome brush used in the harvester is very soft on the ends, so you shouldn't experience any bruising of the crop. The entire machine is quite light too! Just over 6lbs, or slightly more than a 15" laptop.

      @shadfurman Před 8 lety +7

      respectfully, your name is the junk yard genius. YOU can knock one together, but you don't understand supply/demand economics. Its a little complicated than a weed eater, which is $100 bucks at walmart. BUT how many people need a weed eater vs. how many people need a greens harvester.
      I think you actually don't WANT to hack one together, but you only want to pay $80, which means you don't actually need one. Because it's only worth $80 to YOU does not mean it's only worth $500. You don't sell something for the cost in parts + labor, you sell something for what it is worth to your target audience.

      I agree with genius.
      It's a pretty simple design, but let's bring some economics into this.
      Farmers usually don't have the disposable income to buy such a tool, but they do have a lower opportunity cost and a higher level of mechanical problem solving than the average person. It's pretty natural they would jerry-rig a more *economic* solution.
