  • A movement to make the food industry more sustainable and socially aware is gaining ground. It's called "B-Corporation" certification, and as Len Ramirez reports, a well-known brand from the Bay Area is leading the way.

Good for them! My family business, a food business, in Portland, OR is a certified B-corporation. It’s a certification that takes a lot of work and determination to get. It wasn’t my work to do and I have always been so proud that they did. It definitely matches the ideals of my parents and partners in how they’ve always seen the business: it was never for profits, it has always been about the family of employees and their place in the extended community.

Glad there is a Bay Area company that hasn't sold out for greed.
Torani's CEO knows exactly what makes a good company without sacrificing for cheap ingredients, not valuing employees at all levels and not caring about customers and valuing the vendors. Torani is the kind of company people will support knowing that they care about customers, employees, vendors. Company values for thousands and thousands of companies large and small only care about greed and executives huge salaries and bonuses. Even if a company is losing money.
More companies in the Bay Area who have that kind of philosophy, maybe not the B certification, should have a spotlight on them. Especially when so many. people are getting laid off or just looking for work after being unemployed for too long.

When they walked in the facility I was amazed to see how clean it was. And the yellow safety barricades. You can even find optional person of protective equipment on the wall

Their pomagranate syrup is the world's best. The company is better than a B corp. It is an AAA business.

I’ve never seen it. What do you use it in?

@@zaria5785 I mix it with carbonated/soda water. It is very tasty and refreshing over the rocks with a good squeeze of lemon. It is also perfect in a cocktail as a substitute for cranberry juice such as I guess as a nouveau cosmopolitan. It is syrupy so a little goes a long way. I find it in most groceries stores in an aisle somewhere. If they don't have this flavor in stock a good store will order it. When other customers see it they buy it. Watermelon is my other favorite flavor. No artificial flavors.

Except that the ingredients in their products are carcinogenic and not allowed in Europe...so good job keeping everyone healthy. Some BS.

I look forward to seeing you look stupid if they have no downfall. This company may succeed without moving to other countries.

I love it when for profit companies turn to nonprofits for marketing. Especially when their product has no nutritional value. God bless high fructose corn syrup and the ethics behind such a great chemical.
