Speaking of depression, if you come back in the ruins after the end of the Archon Quest and search the places where the hilichurls were waiting for their final moment... you will find only a little residue of black goo. Meaning that they have been eroded in the end.
Now I wish I hadn't came back to watch the video🙂....
This quest wasn't even that long, but it hit just right in the feels, damn
Yeah, first time I felt emotionally invested in an archon quest that wasnt just pure excitement.
Sometimes shorter quests are more impactfull
This quest came in did what needed to be done and left
"It's not about the size. It never is."
Yup, just Dain dropping the most badass lines of the game. Fun fact, in the “we will be reunited” quest, when Dain said “time to silence you” to the abyss herald, the voice lines were a bit more gruesome in Chinese. He basically said “your tongue has been corrupted for too long, time to cut it off”
Halfdan is probably one of the closest things we have seen to khanreia! And like a little ember, he faded really quickly. Really good storytelling!
48:43 in the chat: "Dainsleif gotta initiate some breeding camp to repopulate khaenri'ah race" Lmaoo
Also Dain's smile is so precious
No way someone in chat said Dain should start a breeding camp to repopulate Khaenria'h 😭😭
No wonder he really wants to get back with Lumine

The Chasm’s surface OST is probably the most beautiful one so far, especially the one with traditional Mongolian string instruments (I forget what it’s called)
It sounds like an old miner’s song, and it just puts me at ease every time I’m in the Chasm.
It actually sounded like the theme that played when fighting Azhdaha but slowed down at some points
gave me dwarven vibes
like god of war and the hobbit
very celtic
the mongolian string instrument is Horse Head Fiddle
morin khuur
It is as Dainsleif said,
"You have to tell yourself, they are no longer humans. If you cling to false hope and allow yourself to become too emotionally invested, the only way is down. You will end up just like them, mired in hypocrisy."
This archon quest really picked up the "pace" that was lost in the Inazuma archon quest. Although it felt too short and it could've allowed us to get more invested in it if it was given a bit more screen time, but it was a good one nontheless. Now lets just wish that we don't have to wait another 6 months for the next one to drop.
Thought you'd do Ayato quest first, but you dove right into pain 😂
I was waiting for you to drop this haha. This has to be one of the best quests we've had in a while, because we now have moral ambiguity in the story - which makes it so much more interesting in my opinion. Love your reaction as always Bran haha. Stay safe and stay amazing!
with another one who lies deep in the Chasm.
btw, there's another 2 quest with depressing ending in the Chasm.
@@HenSt-gz7qj what are they called?

If we think of the Ley Lines as something that has memories of what happened and will happen (as the Sakura Tree shenanigan showed us, memories can surpass time itself) the curse is terrifying:
-They can't die normally, instead they get eroded and mutated. By the time they finally die, their memories, and the memories of Khaenri'ah will disappear with them and can't return to the Ley Lines.
-If nobody remembers them, specially the World itself, it is like they never existed to begin with.
That was a curse to remove a country, their people and legacy from existence with torment.
And it seems that in a way, that machine worked, a full spirit with at least partial memory "seems" to return to the Ley Lines.
And that is fascinating, because it is a loophole, just like the Sakura Tree was.
Also, this quest made me really sad: if you are justifying the means with a goal (as our sibling does here) it will make you blind to anything else.
Because the only way those sacrifices make sense, is if is you reach the goal, you keep trying harder and harder, more desperate.
You must, or it will have been meaningless, and that is something that once you reach that point, is impossible to swallow.
Those are the villains that, depending on their goal of course, make me side with in the end.
Because if they don't reach that goal, all they did (maybe people they sacrificed on the way) would have been for nothing.
At least to give meaning for the tragedies and victims, and not just end as pointless suffering if the villain fails, you know?
Again, depending on the goal.
Edit: This just makes me love Ella Musk, because she is one of three (the others Venti and Kaeya) that bothers to understand Hilichurls language and culture, and she even goes further and treats them with decency.
A bit of a late reply, but I finally got to experience this quest myself the other day and then watch this video.
So I gotta say, that your comment is just simply wonderful. I didn't even think about these things...
The total erasure through hundreds of years of suffering. The fact that our twin had succeeded, in a way. And the fact that they are a villain with noble, sympathetic goals and atrocious means to them... Boggles the mind... Genshin writers sure are amazing when they go all out.
And Halfdan slipping through the cracks to enter the Lay Lines? As well as Ella's shenanigans? That puts a bittersweet smile on my face.
Heartbreakingly beautiful.
@@Greyshi Thanks. I am glad it was interesting to read, even if it was long.
And honestly, Genshin lore and plot is the only reason I play the game at this point.
Why does watching other people play through quests like these always make me more emotional than when I did it myself? Also the way I see dealing with Hillichurls is that the ones that attack me in the wild have already lost their remaining humanity.
That's because it's your 2nd time seeing the story again. You're also seeing the reactor's emotion so that's also one of the reason too. The reason why hilichurls in the wild is aggressive towards you is because there's no "Fountain" that slightly reduces their curse and also hilichurls inside the chasm is probably older too. Poor old souls..
@@Unforgiving_Eye actually... its my 3rd time watching it. I saw it myself first then I watched Albs and then I watched Bran
@@blad3thompson i see
i think it partly also is because it's condensed. the game lets you walk around in between, fight random monsters. maybe you see a chest or a luminstone somewhere and go after it. those cut-together videos put more focus on the story.
You can distract yourself by playing the game. You can't completely loosen up when you want to stay ready for a fight.
Here, you're purely watching and can fully focus on the story beats. The points others have raised also apply, like Bran showing his emotions means we get sad more easily because humans are social beings.
NOT SO FUN FACT: If you go back to the spot where the knights were defending the hilichurls, you'll find them gone with only their masks left.
I'm
There's a Liyue Commission where you investigate a Hilichurl Camp near Wangshu Inn, but they all lie on the ground, seemingly dead. I wonder if they also died due to Erosion.
Yes, Paimon EN VA performance in this quest is probably the best, so much emotion and soother than before. Props to Corina Boettger.
is it called "the uninvited guests" one? if it is, apparently you can find xiao if you go to the other camps
I'm rewatching this in EN since I played in CN. Dainsleif & Paimon's VAs are outstanding in both versions. I love them all!

Halfdan in name, Fulldan in our hearts
Let's gooooooooooooooo
Dainsleif last line makes me a bit nervous, we should be ready for a big fight or something in our next meeting? Since he told us to choose a side.. No matter the ending I just hope we don't end up killing him or our sibling 😢
Edit: also Dain said he ordered the knights to protect the people during the distraction of their nation then he rushed to the palace? Dose that mean the royals were saved by him, but still ofc cursed, as he said all Khaenri'ahn people were cursed. Now imagine the theory of Kaeya being a royal, dain saved him and the father somehow, so probably Kaeya's eye is cursed.
If you look at the GI trailer, Dain orders the traveler to fight him, to “prove to him that he’s more worthy of saving their sibling”. I’m afraid a fight against Dain is likely, sooner or later (probably later as it was in the Kaenriah section of the trailer).

This quest was really good. All the revelations about the hilichurls, the story with the dark knights protecting them, the abyss trying to find a way to reverse the curse through horrible means, its muddles everything even more. its a "does the means justify the end" sort of scenario.
its also likely that the "unexpected reunion" that katheryne said was to occur that day, was dain and halfdan.
The dain quests always hit hard.
I felt bad during the quest but still continued to farm hilichurls afterwards
no reason to feel bad... we all get old and die.. tis reality... not to mention all the disorders and illness we often get to go with looming death of old age...
thats no reason to NOT live ya life while u got it and ruff house with others NOT YET near end of their life..
besides.. all them hilichurls in the over world.. bro they dancing and twerking and chanting.. they clearly arent living sad and miserible...
and they LOVE to throw hands with people.. and harrass people.. they despite the curse are behaving like humans who like to start shit.. xD
besides they attack me first half the time... so ion feel bad.. when i clap them nor when i attack first...
warriors life... the hilichurls are about that life.. they clearly are fans of fighting if they arent twerking and dancing lmao
in fact
not beating they ass cause u pity them is disrespectful.. it means ur LOOKING DOWN ON THEM.. and tbh using their "disablity/curse" to feel bad for them as if they are "lesser"
imma beat they ass not different then anyone elses.. they dont get special treatment from me.. 😂
ill be damned if people look down at me for some misforntuate disablity i have.. ill respect a person who doesnt treatment based on my disablity.. aka beat my ass as u would a "fully healthy person"
thus im immune to pity parties and i wont be compelled by dains nonsense pity speeches...

0:11 the way paimon says "what've u done?"
Well "ad astra abyssosque" in Latin means "to the star and the abyss" so she said the follow up sentence "this time you're truly bound for the abyss" a reference to the meaning of ad astra abyssosque and to the unnatural activities occurring in the chasm due to which it was sealed off...whether she said it out of just a hunch or did she actually know something is a different story tho
Edit: That simping over Dain is definitely not the reason why I rushed to the like button 😆
I feel bad for those Hilichurls... 🥺
*Casually kills them a few hours later*
I'm sorry but I need your materials..
also the leylines~~~
So i kinda had an "Aha !" moment
the abyss sibling is right
they refer to the former people returning the the natural cycle (aka death and rebirth)
our sibling knows they will die
but is trying to save the souls of the people
part of what gave me this thought was the fact that when the amplification device was lit up it look suspiciously like the ascention material the traveler uses for constellations
and then i remembered that the traveler had a purification ability that they used in the davalin quest
now our sibling has traveled the world and regained more power what if thier purification ability is way stronger and is being used not to cure the hillys but to remove the curse from thier soul
the traveler and sibling are beings from beyond and might be divine
like dain said the curse effects the cursed at a higher level of existence
but if the traveler could purify davalin
couldn't our sibling purify the curse
not save them from dying but allow the former people to return as souls to they cycle of death and rebirth
it even worked with halfdan
he took the purification directly into his being
and his soul was freed as a result
im soo sure of this
I just had to write it down here
YES! I see it too, after rewatching this quest with several youtubers. And this sequence at 47:57 with Halfdan disintegrating into the light, followed by a hilichurl sitting in the black-purple goo looking up, jfc.
That's an amazing revelation. Sasuga steins gate fans
'"you don't just get to say "without IT" and then not tell me what IT is."'
I mean Dain technically didn't actually say "without IT", he was thinking it, hence why our traveler doesn't probe further.

The World quest before entering the underground map and unlocking full map was PAIN 💀
True ...without voice there's no fun
It was fun
i loved it. well. maybe not the quest itself (voice acting would really be awesome here) but the exploration part with lighting the map, looking for luminstone and such. enkanomiya set the bar pretty high. but in my opinion they managed to surpass it with the chasm.
@@mulraf well definitely chasm was better than enkanomiya

It's really nice to see your reactions to this (and also to Aether's POV).
10:32 I hope traveller and Paimon don't end up like our twin and Dain. Our twin seems to feel betrayed by Dain.
my guess is... the world is originally ruled under the primordial ancient god, before the "Celestia" came, killed the old God and replaced them. Of course, the original civilization rebelled against them, but they were powerless against Celestia and then sunk beneath the ocean / under the earth.
The survivor then spread throughout the land and build a new civilization.
Most of them decided to obey Celestia, while some protested silently, building up power, to one day rebelled against Celestia once again. The cycle repeated for a few times... until the history is forgotten.
Then came the era of Enkanomiya and Khaenri'ah as we know, repeating the cycle and sunk/buried.
The thing is, at least one of the shades of Primordial One survived and did something against the Heavenly Principles.
It does hit you where it hurts the most, doesn't it? Sheesh! Though it was already heavily implied, Dain admitting that he and Lumine were once traveling partners makes you ask yourself: what *_exactly_* happened between the two to have their own separate views on the matter? Lumine, looking ways to revive the _homeland_ while Dain did not want that? And civilizations much older than Khaenriah (the earliest is the Sal Vindagnyr) that was most likely destroyed by Celestia... what exactly the Heavenly Principles were trying to hide? 🤔🤔 an Archon quest that held some answers but at the same time, incites more questions 😂 (ps. Inteyvat that signifies a traveler/wandered that was far away from home... greatly fits the twins, right?) Anyway! Thanks for dropping this Bran!!
What's Crazy About this quest is that Islands Theory about hilichurls being human in the past is frickin crazyy!😱😱.....
I wouldn't be surprised now that majority of his theory would be real....

It's nice to see you again! 😆
Just came back to say... Keaya is from Kheanria.. doesn't that mean that during the cutscene when everyone was suffering... same happened to him?🙂
In my opinion, the Chasm is the best special place(like Dragonspine or Enkanomiya), the Quests here are not only amazing but interesting in a way that leaves you with so many questions, like if Zhiqiong and Katarina died or not? Who was the girl who helped you find a toy and was playing with rifthounds like they were nothing(world quest after you finish lighting the Chasm), upside down city, nation destroyed by Celestia, and the 3 story quests are amazing(“the Chasm exploration quest”, when we light the chasm and Yelan helps us to defeat a ruin serpent without appearing, “requiem of echoing depths”, Dainsleif 2nd quest, depressing again “Perilous Trail”, another depressing one where XIAO nearly died)
hope youre feeling better!!
3:30 I guess people already forgot abyss controlled the hilihurls to attack mondstad when we were out calming down the dragon... Amber even welcomed us in barricades...
Were they in a tranced state?
The flower conversation was so awkward if you play lumine/hotaru XD "this flower looks familiar" "Paimon: Yea now that you mention it, it does look familiar"..........Me: are you both blind :'D
I mean if Aether is your abyss sibling, he probably be the one to put the flower on Lumine's head while she's sleeping and as a way to remember Khaenriah. In my case I played as Aether so it would make sense Lumine wear it to remember Khaenriah.

Paimon - ''just don't forget to report to the miner.''
Bran, literally 5 seconds later - ''huh?? we don't even need to report back to the miner??''
Okay so, if there's nothing to stop the curse, that means sooner or later everyone from Kaenriah will meet their end? Kaeya? Albedo? Dain? Etc? But at the same time, doesn't the curse not let Dain die? I'm so confused..
Heya! This is my understanding so take it with a grain of salt:
1. The curse's effects don't kill the hillichurls, but it feels like death. Since they no longer age, the hillichurl's souls are exposed to erosion over time, which essentially chips away at their spirit until they remember nothing and no one.. not even themselves. That's what they mean when the hillichurls meet their end: they're very soul is eroding away into nothing
2. Albedo and Dain are exceptions in the curse's case. Albedo isn't Kaehnrian, he's a homunculus created by the kaehnrian named Gold and therefore isn't under the curse's effects. Dain is under the curse, but seems to have something which he simply refers to in this quest as "it" that is allowing him to stave off the erosive effects of his long life. As for Kaeya I'm not sure if he's affected or not. He's definitely Kaehnrian, but he also wasn't alive during the cataclysm either. To my knowledge, Genshin hasn't said that the curse follows down the bloodline so I'm inclined to believe that he's not cursed, but I have nothing to back that up
Hope that helps clear any confusion!
