    Compressor was already wicked fast on my Mac Studio Ultra. Gonna be even faster now? Niiiice. About the only thing I could ask for in Compressor would be the ability to combine video files. For example I do a lot of video game capture in ProRes 422 on my Atomos, then compress them into HEVC for storage and use. Sometimes I do it in more than one session because I need to stop for one reason or another, but I only want one file from said game, not 2 or 3 or 4. With Quicktime 7 I could do this easily, but that is no longer available. If I could do it in Compressor, it would save a step by combining my multiple ProRes files into one final HEVC file. And my life would be less sloppy.

      Addendum: If there's any difference in speed on Apple Studio M1 Ultra compared to the previous version, I can't tell. Still super fast.

    Anyone else not showing Compressor as having an update. Even when I go into the more details it does not show an update. Updates Final cut and Motion. But nada for Compressor

    Hi RT - is there a way to send individual clips from timeline to batch export with applied effects to Compressor from FCP? Thanks again for all your awesome training.

      Unfortunately no - it’s 2022 and we should be able to do that by now -

    Some of us have been getting system error -9074 when sending to compressor from FCP. Some say this started with Monterey. Anyone know if it’s been fixed in this release?

    As always, concise and helpful. Thank you! Do you have any comments on how much faster Compressor 4.6.1 is on the Mac Studio - Max and/or Ultra?

    • @rippleguys
      @rippleguys  Před 2 lety +2

      I use an M1 Max laptop and it's fast. Don't have an M1 Studio.

    • @GameSack
      @GameSack Před 2 lety

      It was already crazy fast on my M1 Ultra Mac Studio. Can't really tell the difference on this new version. Doesn't mean there isn't a difference.

  • @JoshGreensVLOG
    @JoshGreensVLOG Před 2 lety

    Amazing! Does this update address the horrendous mp4/mkv export times? ProRes decodes and exports so quickly on my M1 Max, but videos take longer to render as 10-bit HDR than they do to play, and it's weird.

    • @rippleguys
      @rippleguys  Před 2 lety +1

      Yup I can confirm that the HEVC encoding is NOT M1 aware.

    Is there any point in exporting a video recording in c-log 8 bit on a Canon EOS R, to HEVC 10 bit 4-2-2 after color grading or should I keep it at 8 bit with h264? Thank you!

    • @rippleguys
      @rippleguys  Před 2 lety

      If you are shooting in 8 bit there is no benefit to exporting in 10 bit -

      Yeah bugs me too. Used to be able to "see" right to the desktop - I'll reach to my apple peeps
